Write the date you open a new bottle of cleaner, detergent, garbage bags, regular food items and write it in something permanent. That is an easy way to help you calculate how long it takes you to go through each item. I would love it if you could collaborate with Our Tribe of Many, Sarah could teach you her magic.
If you save veggie scraps (tops of onions, carrots, peppers, etc.) in the freezer until you have enough, you can make veggie stock with them. I have a designated gallon freezer bag for this purpose. It’s super easy and uses stuff you’d otherwise throw away. If you add meat bones or a chicken carcass, you can make bone broth. You can easily freeze the broth for future use. That might be an easy way to stock up (no pun intended) without worrying about limits at a grocery store. It also allows you to extract more value from what you already buy, especially meat as prices rise.
Soak the beans in water for 24 hours. Rinse and put in the insta pot for about 35 min on the bean setting with garlic, onion, salt, and if interested cumin. It’s sooo good!
Sarah at Our Tribe of Many probably has one of the best meal planning ideas, she has 10 kids, and plans ALL meals, breakfast, lunch dinner and even snacks, and does one big grocery shop each month, with a filler shop 1/2 way through month.
Angela, I don't know where else to write this, but today I got your book delivered to me - finally. After delayed deliveries to Europe and getting stuck at the customs office for no reason, your book has finally come to my hands, and I am forever grateful. I have read it in one sitting in just 4 hours, I couldn't put it down. I had your voice in my head the whole time and my heart ached for you, but you give me hope and inspire me with your strength and your testimony of God's love for us.
Just done with your book few min back..and just want to convey a big thank you for writing it. I can't just put in words how your channel and now this book has enriched me and answered many of my questions about lord and life. You are a blessing Angela..and I am so grateful to God for connecting me to you
When you do find a farmer, you will find it so comforting to know that you have things on hand. Even if it is when something small happens and you can't make it to the grocery store. We buy our beef & milk from local farmers. And we are able to raise our own poultry, so we have eggs, chicken & turkey. Having those things in the freezer are so nice to have. You'll find it life changing (not trying to be dramatic...but it just is) You are headed in the right direction, my friend!
So nice to see a mom buying lots of healthy veggies and fruit etc. for her kids. Sometimes I watch these vids and people are like "well today we ate at Chick Fil A for the third time this week." Your kids seem to love their veggies which is good on you and your hubby.
Beans are so easy if you have a croc pot. My mom would leave them in for an hour or 2 until they were soft [they do need more water once in a while] , no pre soak, just salt and a 1/4 of onion for flavor. Stove top is good too.
Hey if you have an instant pot, use it to make the dry beans. So easy and you don’t have to babysit them. Also since you have an extra freezer you can make the all the beans at once and then portion out and freeze. To be honest most of these beans cans are lined with bpa so making your own is worth it. You can also can your beans but that is a process.
The beans are so easy to cook... I just put them in my crock pot in the morning cover them with water add seasoning to taste and let them go on low just keep an eye on the water level so they don't burn. I don't even pre soak them
We sometimes have got a quarter or half cow from a local farm and it’s such a huge help having a few months of beef and not having to worry about getting it at the grocery store. It tastes so good too! Love to watch all your videos! Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us! ❤️
Hi Angela I live in England and have finally received your book from Amazon uk yesterday 16th may and have already read the first chapter and can't wait to read the rest thank you for your videos here and on the nest xxxx
If you make beans in the crockpot it is so easy! I clean them, add salt, and then let them cook on low for 8ish hours. From there you can freeze them in bags for later use! I do this once a month!
If you have a ip or pressure cooker beans are super easy in them. If you soak them they only take 15 minutes. If you dont soak them for 12 to 24 hours it takes about 45 minutes. My ratio is 1 cup beans to 2 cups water. Also I personally dont season my beans till after they're done. I find it comes out better that way.
Angie, the beans are super easy to cook in the slow cooker. For Mexican style bean just use a 1/2 of onion, 1 garlic, salt 1 cup of beans to 2 cups water and cook on low for 4 hours or 2 on high. And to make the refried beans cook in lard on low high and smashed. Highly recommend.
If you have blueberry farms near you, seeing if they have you pick would be a great way to get them very cheap. And the older kids might enjoy it. My mom took us blueberry picking every summer growing up and we’d get about 10 gallons at a time and freeze a ton of it for snacks.
My mom works at our local butcher shop which sells to anyone and supplies restaurants. She says anyone can go in and order the restaurant quantities for a better price. We are only a family of 6 but go through eggs like crazy, if I had an extra fridge I would for sure be buying the 15 dozen eggs from there! It would totally fit in our fridge if we didn't have so much milk! Little things like that could save you a ton. The butcher shop is only about a block from a chain grocery store and deli meats, bacon (with better cuts), and pretty much all the other meats are significantly cheaper at the butcher shop which makes that extra 5 min stop totally worth it. Anyone can call ahead and place an order and pay ahead and load up once you're there's as well. I think the best part is knowing that they are supporting local and closer to home farmers first where a chain store may be purchasing from anywhere! Some times looking at the little hole in the wall businesses that have been there forever really really pays off! ❤
I agree, Sarah from Our Tribe of Many can help with the once a month shopping. She does most her shopping at Costco or Sams, Aldi and Wal-Mart. I'm an NC girl...LOVE Harris Teeter. One of my favorite grocery stores.
If you buy the cheap corn that’s all in the husk and not prepped a trick to get rid of all the silk of the corn off is to Microwave each ear of corn for three minutes and then cut off root end and push corn out like squeezing it out. The corn will be cooked and silk free.
Dried beans are your best friend if you have an Instant Pot or some kind of electric pressure cooker!! I use mine everyday for chicken or whatever and we cook dried beans in it for meals multiple times a week. It's a large family, busy mama, must have, I'm telling ya! 💜
Corn here in west Texas has regularly been 4 for $1 for the last month or so....pork has gone up a little bit... but NOT $10. Probably up from $4 to about $6. Bags of honey crisp apples are around $4 here, too. A thing we did to cut our grocery budget to ALLOW for the more “expensive” actual FOOD items, is we cut out k cups. They’re convenient but it’s not that much harder to use a reusable filter in the keurig and spoon in bulk coffee.
I know how hard it is to buy enough stuff for 10 people, I have a family of 10 too but the only one of us that is still a child is about to turn 8. But what works the best for us is to write on the package of cleaning products when it was opened and until when it is supposed last, that way you can see if you are using too much of something. We eat close to nothing of meat, like once every 2 weeks so we didn't feel the change in price of pork yet. It's really cool to see the differences and similarities between your family grocery haul and mine
Hey u take them beans and chop up and onion and some bacon and fry it up in a deep sauce pan add the beans and cover with water & bring to a boil and turn down and simmer till tender... Add about 2 to 3 inches of water above the beans b4 u start...
I can’t believe things have gone up in price that much. In the UK, nothing has increased in price really, the only thing I’ve found has changed is a lot of places don’t have many multi-buy offers, so people are not encouraged to buy more than they need. And for a while there were restrictions on the number of each product you could buy.
Here in Norway the prices have started to rise a little bit, but they are expected to rise much more . We havent had any shortage in supplies in our stores yet. Except flour , yeast and toilet paper the first week of the lock down. The prices of produce is supposed to increase during summer and spring. Since the farmers won’t get to hire the work stock from EU they usually rely on. Meat prices will also rise as the butchering proscess will be more expensive with the new rules to prevent speeding of the virus and new rules to packaging. Imported groceries and other supplies will be harder to get hold of since some countries have closed their borders for export and some production lines are slowed down or closed because of the virus. I think rises prices will be a trend all over the world because of this. This is so so sad as many people are out of work or have had a decrease in income because of the corona situation too. It will be harder to get what we want and more expensive to get it in the future, sadly.
The lack of offers is killing me. Just put in our Tesco order and having to pay £7 for a box of ecover dishwasher tablets is just mean (I usually get the Wilco eco ones for about £3.50).
Rachel, glad your prices haven’t gone up much! Many Americans have been panic-buying, which has affected our supply chains. We’ve also had some issues with some of our producers (one of our biggest pork suppliers shut down to deal with internal Covid-19 cases) and we’ve had a lot of bad weather systems, several tornadoes that wiped out some of our chicken suppliers... also, a lot of our farmers and dairy farmers weren’t able to sell their products because of supply chain issues and grocers placing too strict of limits on quantities. I hope we can level out soon.
We get our meat delivered straight from the farm. It only costs us $250 and it lasts my family of 1A and 3K and my parents combined 6 weeks. I do a main shop once a month then top up on milk, fruit and veg when needed. We also have 3 chickens, veggies garden and fruit trees so I know if anything did happen we alway have some form of food
We do just a Stock Up grocery trip...we buy things we will eat anyway. Rice-Pasta-Beans-canned items-sugar-flour-tuna-salmon & then buy a 1/2 cow & pig
Do your stores not have fruits and veggies loose and not in plastic wrap? I find they are less expensive loose -especially corn on the cob. Love your TH-cam!
I started to stock up & our fridge/freezer went out. Sears & Kmart are gone & a lot of places were closed so the only local place we could buy one was home depot & the earliest we could get it, was a full week. Everything was wasted. I do love my new fridge but it's no where near full. I had to re-buy every condiment etc but I wasn't mad. I love that everything is new. lol
Grilled zucchini, onions, and red peppers (eggplant is good too) + a little chopped basil on bread with provolone or mozzarella melted on top- perfection!
You can use rice, pasta, and even vegetables to stretch the meat. For example you can have an Asian theme night for dinner and everyone gets a big bowl of rice and all the meat and vegetables are cut up into bite size pieces and pretend you are eating at a Japanese restaurant. You could even see if you could pickup an Asian dish set with bowls for the rice and chopsticks to eat with. You can even do the same thing with pasta and have an Italian themed night for dinner. Either way you make the main part of dinner the rice or pasta with vegetables added in and the meat is kinda like a condiment for the rice or pasta and vegetables.
We have 8 kids too. I cook beans in my instant pot all the time. You can freeze the beans once they are cooked too. It is so cheap and pretty easy to do it that way.
Great hauls! If you can find it, your sausage and bacon will be much more economical at Sam’s or a Costco. You can also order a lot of pantry staples from Sam’s or Costco online and ship it. Also, while starting to stock up on supplies, don’t forget to stock up on hygiene products and water for emergencies! Thanks for sharing. The oranges look like tangelos?
Hey Angie I’m so glad your so opened to share your family with the world. Have you ever considered couponing? It can help you save money on groceries and household cleaning items. It can be overwhelming with planning and buying things but it’s so worth it, if you can find the time for it.
To help get a handle on how often you need to buy certain things I started writing the date I started using it on the package. It helped me figure out how much to stock up when there's a good sale.
Angela, I just wanted to let you know (in case you don't) about Hello Bello diapers. If you get the bundle they deliver it to your house and it's cheaper than honest co. I also like them way better - softer and more absorbent.
Hi Angie, you should see if you area has a restaurant supply store where you can buy groceries. Our town has one called "cash and carry" and they sell really huge quantities of food including fresh produce and meats. It is super affordable and my husband and I buy most of our dry goods and produce there because it is so much cheaper!
If you can find a place for a deep freezer you can buy upwards to 1/2 a cow or a whole pig and that will last you about a year. It's a worth while investment and will save you time at the grocery store in the long run. You could also try to rig something in the RV so you can take some of that meat with you while you guys camp.
We use to shop 1x a week. But after the Covid we have been trying to go every 3 to 4 weeks. Luckily we have lots of beef in our deep freeze because we raise our own beef. And I found a gem of an online shopping I have been using for a month to buy all my non toxic, plant based products that don't break the bank. And everything there is MADE USA!
I love your content. i'm brazilian and here we eat bergamots (it is like a tangerine. it seems to be the fruit you bought) and beans almost every day. soak the beans in water overnight. then, fry half an onion, add with the beans and cook. Salt and pepper. adding some kind of sausage is good too
We are doing the same thing with storage, certainly keep the stock up. Love the freezer in the background. We are the same and loving the fact we have food in xx
I love these, keep sharing your meal ideas! We buy this much food for three of us (one of which is 12 months old) 😂 my husband has a very physical job so needs to consume tons of calories. Watching large family meal preps has been a major help in making healthy but filling and huge meals! We also ended up investing in an additional couple of freezers for the garage so that we could buy portions of cows, pig, and chicken from local farms. It’s a large investment up front but it supports local farmers and ends up being more economical for us in the long run. If you have the space and the finances, I highly recommend it! It’s encouraged me to freeze a lot of other things too instead of throwing them away, which has prevented so much food waste in our house.
We get dried beans in 50lb bags. Easiest way I like to cook them is dump some in the bottom of a crock pot and fill with water (add onion/spices if you want) and let them cook in there for 6hrs or so.
If you are considering buying meat by the animal, be sure to make the decision early as it can be a longer process. My husband and his family raise beef, and my parents want 1/4 beef for their freezer, but we can't get an animal into the local packing plant until September because they are booked out that far. So, if you are thinking that direction, I encourage you to start now. It is such a relief right now to have a freezer full of meat - beef from our family, and we have some pork from a friend's 4-H project. We are low on chicken, but at least I know that we have food on hand. Also, dried beans aren't really that much work. I will sometimes cook a large roaster full and then package the cooked beans in freezer bags - just as easy as canned beans the day you need them!
Just purchased 1/2 beef from a local farmer and will be finished processing by the end of the month. Planted a fairly large garden this year. Hoping the weather cooperates for a good yield!
Go back the next day and get more meat and whatever else you need! I live in Ontario Canada. We are limited usually on eggs. Though our beef places have had some outbreaks so I’m guessing we’ll see a rise in price and some shortages... our bacon is close to this prices regularly... have to buy it on sale. -Lindsay
Dried beans are actually pretty easy. I usually forget about them until the day I want to eat them for dinner, and just follow the quick cook method on the package.
Thanks for sharing your video. I just love watching what all people buy and eat. Beans are great and a lot cheaper than can. As a vegetarian, that is our go to food.
Stores (in Germany) have been and still are out if certain things (mostely toiletpaper :-D) but nothing major! I don't know about meat prices...we are vegetarians. We eat a ton of beans and peas...have switched to the dried ones to and it is so much fun soaking them over night and cooking them the next morning while we eat breakfast...then thry are allready prepared for dinner later which is perfect.
We are a family if 5 but we do big grocery hauls twice a month. We like to have a small stock but we also get paid twice a month and for me personally it's easier to meal plan and budget for two weeks at a time! I've been watching you every since you were pregnant with the twins and still love watching all of your videos ❤
A family this big is my dream! I plan on naturally having kids with my future husband (God willing) and adopting as well. God bless your beautiful family.
We only have a family of 3 most of the time and a family of 4 the rest but I love seeing these hauls. We just got Costco in our state, Perth WA (Australia) so seeing what's available at Costco there is great.
At my Costco in Canada the ground beef was 9.99 per unit. ( pound or kilo I’m not sure) as I approached I thought all those little packages are all $10. Nope. They was a tiny amount of meat in them and they ranged from $15 - 18. They were limiting meat to three packages here too. Luckily I’m vegetarian and the hamburger was for the dog who I informed he might be going veggie. Love your channel and seeing your grocery haul.
I shop weekly. For 5...2 teenage boys and a 10 yr old boy. If I shopped bi-weekly or once a month....a lot gets wasted. Bread, milk, cheese, all goes bad before we get to it... but I rather not have to go to the store every week...but we save so much that way. 7 meal plan, I know nothing will go bad.
For y'all it your trying to do a stock up now this is for the long haul too take it from me I am the youngest of 10 with 9 older brothers we lived in the middle of no where where in the winter it could take up to six weeks just to plow the main road. Y'all would need 3 freezers not including your indoor one AGAIN this is for the long haul something you build up to. And y'all would need 2 cows to feed for the full 3 months for yalls family size one freezer would be for Frozen fruits and vegetables and things like that the others meats cheeses. And it might take 6 months to a year to get you dry goods in order as well. Also look into the 5-year food storage buckets airtight watertight with vacuum sealed lids that might also help. And with dry goods first in first out just like at the grocery store oldest in front newest and back that way you guys can actually continue to build a stockpile and yet eat off of it on a daily basis at the same time.
Hey! Love watching grocery hauls! We currently shop once a month (family of 4) with one veggie and fruit run in the middle, although recently I’ve been making it 3ish weeks by using more frozen veggies and fruit. At our Costco only the fresh meat is limited, did you check the frozen? I love frozen Kirkland chicken and burgers. No limit here and it’s cheaper! The other TH-cam channels I follow for inspiration on organizing, shopping less frequently and budgeting groceries are our tribe of many (I see many people watch!), Amy Maryon (she also has a blog and has free homeschool material) and She’s in her apron. They are all amazing!
I love salmon patties also & use that same canned salmon to make them, adding in chopped Vidalia onion. Let us know if the kids like them! Smart idea to buy a freezer and stock up just in case we have to quarantine again in the fall or winter. Praying that doesn’t happen though! 🙏🏻
Little trick for the corn! Usually they’re much cheaper in the freezer section and taste just as good! They also have mini corn cobs which are just the cob cut smaller for little ones
If you find corn that is not shucked/pre-cut you can get them for less than 50¢ a piece! Some grocery’s stores will have a giant bin of corn to choose from
I would like to highly suggest buying a pig and having it processed locally at a small processor. Places to get one would be yes a farmer but don’t overlook local 4-H/FFA kids. My boys raise pigs for 4H and after show we put them in the freezer. Sometimes kids really need to sell extra pigs to pay for the next years projects.
I just posted about this yesterday. I spent $250 on what would have cost me maybe $150 a few months ago & I didn’t even buy meat. So one thing you maybe interested in is Southern Foods at Home. You buy 6 months of food (meat & frozen veggies)at a time & they deliver it right to your home. Organically & sustainably raised from local/small farmers. They do a sit down with you & work it to your family (how many people, how many meals eaten at home, the types of meat you like to eat). You can order as much or as little as you want (but you can only order 2x per year- No I don’t work for them, just a happy customer, but I can get you contact information if you want to look into it further- & if you name drop we get a referral credit 😉). Anyway, may be worth looking into.

Good idea! 😍
I was going to write the same thing Sarah is amazing when it comes to planing and once a month grocery shopping 😊
I only grocery shop for two people but I still enjoy watching these large grocery hauls! 💜
same!
I shop for 3 and these are my favorite to watch!
Kaylee Abbott I shop for 3 but also enjoy watching these . X

Yes! I love Our Tribe of Many!
I love Sarah and solo!!! their amazing parents as well
This Montana Life try also NOT ENOUGH NELSONS
It's very easy to cook the beans, just let they soak in the water over night, will be much easier! If you have a pressure cooker it's very quickly too
Why do I find watching your grocery hauls so satisfying and relaxing when grocery shopping is the bane of my life?! 😂

Try putting the grapes in the freezer. Oh my goodness! So good.
Yess!!!🙌
Tip for cooking beans. Let it soak overnight, it cooks in an hour in the morning. What remains froz.
I share smaller hauls for my family of 4 but I love watching these bigger ones too! They give me so many ideas! 😃
What you said with putting blueberries in the freezer, I used to do that with grapes! Great summer snack.
Beans are so easy to cook!! I do them in the Crock-Pot and then freezer them in individual bags with the amount we eat at a time so I don't waste!
America is out to make money
Rachel Tesco has gotten expensive something I bought went up by 50p in a week
If you have a pressure cooker it makes cooking dried beans super easy.
Hey Angie
I’m so glad your so opened to share your family with the world.
Sara from tribe of many recommended your channel. Such great energy. I have enjoyed your videos. Especially meals.
Angie you look stunning! Love that hairstyle on you.
Wow! You did a amazing job shopping! Thank you for showing ! That give me some kind of idea the next time I do my grocery shopping !what to look for!
-Lindsay
I’ve noticed recently how slim you’re looking, you’re glowing you look beautiful x
I love these videos for some weird reason! I think it feeds my hunger to have a large family.
You are just such a ray of sunshine in my subscription box!
I love these videos. We have one child but we want a big family so these are so fun to watch and learn from.
Found your channel yesterday and I already watched all your videos!! I love it.
That hair wrap! Need more information on that please.
Your back yard is fabulous!!!!!!
Pampered Chef has a really cute waffle stick baking pan, it's adorable.
Hi Angie, I put total tomatoes in my taco meat. It gives it an awesome flavor. We love it.
If your kids like hummus, dip the pretzels on the hummus my 4 yr old loves it
Really like the idea of local produce. Thanks for suggestion!
Gurl..you popped up just when I needed a little Angela refresh! Love watching you
Love foodie videos. And “like a bridge troll” had me rolling 🤣
the last fruit you showed up, is tangerine! i'm from brasil and here it's very commun and delicious fruit!!!
Easy bean cooking if you use the crock pot (or instant pot if you have one)
The orange fruit you didn't know the name looks like tangerine! I love it, I hope the kids enjoy it too
We only have a family of 3 most of the time and a family of 4 the rest but I love seeing these hauls.
How long will these groceries last?
How many dinners will it make? Does this also have all your lunch and breakfast ingredients?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful content. A big job meal planning.
Don’t forget to Soak those beans overnight before trying to cook them!!! I love homemade beans.
I was able to get your book on Amazon audible for free! I'm excited to start it. 😊
Your teeth looks SO good, Angela! So straight and white. :)
You can soak the beans in water over night. I rarely buy the dried beans, because I'm kind of lazy, but I know that they are probably healthier.
