  • Can we trust what we see and hear anymore? Filmmaker/author Kyle Vorbach was living his dream life- or at least he made it look that way on social media with the use generative AI. Join Kyle as he talks about the living on the edge of reality, and through the use of magic, demonstrates why we need to question everything. Kyle’s career began after a battle with cancer showed him life’s too short to NOT do what he loves. He’s since worked tirelessly, making high-impact, high-concept films, using music, comedy, and technology to bend genres and push boundaries. His most recent short film, Somewhere In Between, premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Festival and his most recent documentary, a provocative social stunt about the advent of AI called How I Faked My Life With AI, opened the Cinema & AI symposium at the 2023 CogX Festival in London. This led Kyle to author his first book, Pandora’s Code: Decrypting the History, Benefits, and Dangers of AI, and launch his brand-new podcast exploring this cutting-edge field. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

This talk gives one a lot to think about. It’s especially scary to think how much AI will affect the news once it gets good enough. It’s already basically there, and misinformation is already inescapable.

there are easy solutions to this issue but apparently no one is interested in implementing them yet (but I'm sure they will eventually, I predict in 2025)

The scary thing is that this is actually a good thing. We’ve been fed fake news since ages and now because we know so undeniably that we can’t trust them, we will stop doing it and finally take our lives in our hands again.

This make me think that authentication on digital will have to improve, otherwise people will have to get back to the days of presential things.

Fantastic riveting talk, it's so difficult to imagine what kind of world our future is going to be if we don't get generative AI under control. We are not yet on a point of no return but we are getting there fast.

Oh man! Such a needed talk. It really has managed to emulate a post-truth landscape.

a year ago before anyone was doing ai stuff all the time and you weren't primed to expect it, it seemed real and also when your friend tells you they're doing something you tend to believe them and not zoom in on every image lol

LOL I would not have said look at Kyle living his best life I would have said why is Kyle using a bunch of AI.
I get to the majority of the people can't understand or discern the difference between real and fake but it was pretty obvious here for those of us who can

Ted talks when will you all do something about the out of control OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING for k-12 teachers in this country. I'm the author of EIGHT DAYS IN AN INNER CITY SCHOOL

It may happen when this country positions teachers and the education system to a higher esteem.
It is not what you teach, but how you teach it.
The path to becoming a skilled teacher is grueling and tedious. Occupational teachers are not there for the money; they are the product of a broken system.
