Fantastic car! Ford Focus will always be one of my favorite cars of all time. I got one 1.0l St Line 125hp from 2020, but nothing compares to a ST 💪🏻 Thanks for this video! Cheers from 🇵🇹
I drive a 2014 Focus ST wagon, best family car i've ever had. great acceleration, perfect in corners on the farming roads around my house. 9l/100km isn't bad at all for an 2.0 with 250hp
I had a fully bolted stage 3 mk3 and as previous said, the stock intercooler is a joke, even for stock. Brakes also, pads overheat very easily. Swapping them for EBC was night and day difference.
@@pokest225 Yes the torque vectoring. Well the car isnt perfect, lots of torque steering when u go stage 3, even stage 2, but it does more or less everything very good as a daily. Not the best, just very good allround. Obviously i swapped mine for an Audi S5 and I wouldn't back. I can hear the rattle and squeaking in the video and stuff like that drives me insane.
the reason why i didn't tune my car, tuned my previous 2 cars and all with problems.. and a perron tune and the other was a custom made wich took 4 hours to make at a dyno, and after 1000km already engine light, combustion chambre error codes.. leave my '14 Focus ST wagon stock this time, great as it is
Is that clutch slip or massive wheelspin? It shouldn't overpower a set of A-brand tyres at 280hp.. EDIT: nvm its wheelhop, probably a "send it" tune that applies full boost early on. Good way to damage the drivetrain.
The turbo is extremely small and almost maxed out at stock 250hp. That's why it is hard to achieve big power gains with just a tune, unfortunately. This car should have a bigger turbo (like garret powermax) out-of-the-box.
Thats a tuning problem. When the tuner first applied the baseprofile on my car, it made way too much torque at 1800-2000rpm. He clipped the boost a little to make it more driveable. But that did mean the max torque was 340, not 351. I got a slightly lower number, but a much better driving vehicle that I can just plant in the corner and it will not torquesteer its way to the curb.
There is no point of tuning 2.0 EB. This engine has no extra room for power like in for an example TFSI engines. It`s made for 250 HP and it`s safe power for this unit. My stock ST Turnier/Wagon went 259 km/h GPS on stock 250 HP just with 100 octane racing shell
My neighbour had one of these and always acted like "The Man" in the neighborhood. I own a Golf 7.5 GTI with a stage 1 (made about 300HP) tune and whenever he sees me, he wants to race. I always turned him down with a disgust type look on my face. Eventually, months later I got him on the highway and smoked him... Dude moved. Can't tell for sure but think he got his ego bruised. Occasionally I would see him at car meets but we just try to ignore each other.
Yup, bad aerodynamics in combination with shitty engines doesn't make a car fit for the German Autobahn. Multiply the claimed power by Ford by 0.8 and you have the real power output.
As usual with the Focus mk3.5/4, performance is absolutely horrible. EcoBoost engines are among the worst in their class and the Focus mk3.5/4 has horrible aerodynamics. A stock GTI 7.5/8 or any other EA888 equipped VAG vehicle will eat this thing alive. Even a Hyundai i30N performs better at higher speeds. It's sad that Ford never figured out how to build competitive hot hatches, despite trying for almost 40 years.
@@Bc_2158 I live in Germany. People here are obsessed with Autobahn performance and top speed. That's the reason why everyone here hates American and Japanese cars. They all perform bad on the Autobahn or top speed is limited at ridicilously low speeds (like with the Yaris and Corolla GR). There are a few exceptions of course, like the Supra mk4 or mk5. But the latter is basically a BMW. Surprise, surprise.....

I think this is such a cool affordable sport car ! Perfect for daily and trackday
My first car that my father so kindly got me, but then he took it for a spin three years later and totalled it🤣🤣🤣liftoff oversteer is wild
This would make for a fun daily

Blimey Max, you're mad.......😂😂👍👍
The first autobahn pull looked faster than the others you timed.
yes that‘s because the stock intercooler is way to weak even with stock power
@@robinnicht3491 I thought the same. Typical heat soak.

@@mattsson265 brakes are a problem also because the ecu uses the brakes as a fake lsd. So the brakes overheat as hell.

What is the limiting factor with the Focus ST? The power gain with softare and exhaust is just about 30hp and 40nm...
Most likely intake/exhaust (not catback, but manifold), better intercooler, etc like most turbos. And quality of the fuel, a very overlooked aspect!
software gain for these ar 70-80-90Nm depending on wich tune you take for stage 1
The turbo is extremely small and almost maxed out at stock 250hp. That's why it is hard to achieve big power gains with just a tune, unfortunately. This car should have a bigger turbo (like garret powermax) out-of-the-box.

Yeah, a 210HP Fiesta ST is just as fast. Lighter, for sure, but those quoted 70HP more should make better
