Beautiful coordination of trim and fabric. And using an old duvet (yes, I had to google it as a blanket here in the UK is a different beast!) is a brilliant idea for those of us that have a less than efficient internal heating system.
I've been skipping that part because it's so straight forward 😅 I thought it'd be boring. But will definitely look through my footage I'm sure I have it somewhere so that I can make a short out of it
Came here from your retrospective on 2023. I am a huge fan of wearing red accents in the snow. This reminded me of singing a choral adaptation by Randall Thompson of the Elinor Wylie poem called "Velvet Shoes," not sure if you know that. The choral version I learned is from the 20th century but is still very pretty. I once had a part time job writing up vintage clothes for sale online. Most of it was pretty recent, but then one day there was a beautiful blue velvet mantelette visite fom probably the 1880's. It seemed to be cut in a way that allowed space for a highish bustle. It was trimmed with little tassels, probably silk, and I forget the closure, but I think the inspiration was Asian. I think it had a small Mandarin collar. It was in dire need of repair and I told the sellers this and they offered me the item, but I turned it down because I was not in a position to store, much less care for it properly. I regret this now. It was one of those "the one that got away" moments. At any rate, I posted your retrospective in a fashion history group on Facebook to get you more much-deserved views. :)
Im so excited to see this video on the dolman! I've just recently ordered that very book, and plan to make myself one. Since I am also 5'4" and short waisted the pattern should work well for me. Your dolman turned out wonderfully and you look gorgeous!!
Thank you for making this!! Its beautiful!! Ive had this bookmarked for a very long while and its amazing to see it actually made up. Perhaps, could you do video of how you draft up patterns that scaled like this one is. I have a good idea of how its done but seeing a closer look at exactly how your doing it would be great!! I dont think anyone has really shown that in any kind of detail. Thank you !!
@@sewthroughtime That would be awesome. Of all the ones ive watched I cant recall any closeups. Ive been looking for one that explains/shows it a little better. Ive thought it out in my head but probably making it more complicated than it actually is lol
You so beautiful. How are you feeling in winter? Hope its comfortable and warmth in your new design. I respect yours and abundance of historical and beauty my friend.

Haha yeah it's like jumpers we'll be thinking of completely different things 🤣
Oh wow, that’s gorgeous. Thank you for posting.
That is so pretty. I love the color.
Thanks! I actually bought the wrong color silk by accident for a different project so this became a reality 😅😂
Gorgeous garment! Beautifully sewn!! I too would love a video showing how you draft a pattern like this. Your channel never disappoints. Many thanks.

Please do a tutorial on late 1930s hairstyle or 1940s!
That's been on the list all fall but time has just gotten away from me 😅 so it's coming in the new year at some point
Wow the video title text is covering most of the bottom area
It could have been smaller or none

It's nice and warm for sure, I mean I'm wearing a literal blanket! But definitely still needs winter appropriate under layers
