So yeah, prime Wilt could dominate in any era of basketball. Not to mention avg. 30 pts 28 rebs life-time against Russell. 72 records that are "shown" this doesn't even include the fact the NBA never kept track of or aknowledged blocks and steals as a stat but in his last 2-3 or 4 yearss a highly respected NBA statistician kept track of his blocks he averaged 8.8 blocks per game and half of that was after a massive knee surgery. he was seen blocking 26 shots against the pistons once, a televised game that is recorded and people saw on christmas one year he blocked 23. wilt would easily have every single blocking record known toman with maybe the remeaining few going to russell. . now add in the records for double doubles, triple doubles, quadruople doulbe s and quinitiple doubles to that

Wilt was so strong that Arnold had to ask him to stop coming to his gym because everyone would stop working out to watch. He used to bench 650 before games because that’s all the weights they had in the facility. Russell famously said, that Wilt had to hold back for fear of hurting his opponents. There has never been a player that compared to him. High jumper, hurdler, and in his late 40’s he was acknowledged as the greatest volleyball player in the world. Lebron is a physical phenomenon, but there are no words for Wilt except super human.

I approached him with a torn piece of paper, he said " this all you got " but signed it ! and was cool to me ! If I knew I'd meet him I would have brought a picture of him to autograph. Those who get to that level have shorter arms and thick barrel chests so they only have to move the bar a foot or less.Wilts long arms would have him holding the 650lbs. for close to 2 feet on the way down and back up. there was a time when Wilt would look like the Greek Freak, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan. He was far too skilled to play back then. Once he started getting older and slower... and Kareem could hook shot over him and block his shots, it was too late. Kareem started looking like a younger Wilt.
But his early 20's the way he could get up and down the court... always get the ball no matter the situation and out run everyone... scoring at will. It left the world in AWE. We couldn't compute what the heck was going on. There wasn't enough court for him to even look normal out there.

Wilt was legendary but I always take into account that he played at 7’1/280+ in an era where the average center was 6’9/230 and the average power forward was 6’7/216. In Shaqs era the average center was 6’11/250
And the average power forward was 6’9/230 so basically all the power forwards in Shaq’s era would be centers in Wilts. Wilt was ahead of his time and that’s not his fault but that detail still matters.

Shaq isn't even 7 foot tall barefoot. Those 60's heights are barefoot. Hakeem and Ewing are basically the same height as Russell. Hakeem is no where near 7 foot. Watch "Wilt meets Shaq and Ewing". Wilt towers over Ewing and Ewing is a half inch taller than Hakeem. They started inflating players heights in the mid-70's.

since they started measuring nba players barefoot again, average starting center height is a half inch higher than it was in the 60s. Don't follow this common misleading centers weren't big in 60s and Wilts competition was low.

@@spaltersar it’s not hype I looked it up myself. The average center was 6’9 230 in wilts era, and 6’11 250 in Shaq’s.. even without shoes they’re still much bigger. It’s really the power forwards from the 2000s would be centers in the 60s if shaq was the only guy in the nba over 6’11/250 and only faced power forwards. He’d average 40-50 pts too

Wilt Chamberlain was the most dominant player in the sport Shaq couldn't hold a torch to this man no one has ever averaged 50 points a game and 25 rebounds in the season only Wilt Chamberlain he had games of 100 75 73 all in the same season.

Media gets a hard on over Kareem's skyhook and yet you can see both Wilt and Nate blocking it.
Now trying blocking Wilt's fadeaway jump shot. To me that's the most unstoppable shot in basketball.

THANK YOU for doing a video on WIlt Chamberlain. I agree that the 80-90s are the best era, but two of the top 10 players are from the 60s and should be recognized. Learning more about Wilt over the past few years, he is in my top 2. Here is why:
    1. He is easily one of the five best offensive players in NBA history, probably one of the two best.
    2. He is easily one of the five best defensive players in NBA history.
    3. The only player who I think joins him on both lists is Jordan.
    4. He is easily one of the three most dominant players in NBA history, probably one of the two best.
    5. The closest comparison post-merger is clearly Shaq. Wilt was so athletic that he blocked Kareem's sky hook at age 33. Shaq at 33 was in Miami, still dominant, but not as athletic as he was in Orlando.
    6. His overall athletic ability, added to his height and wingspan, is unmatched. The Olympic motto is “Citius, Altius, Fortius”, "Faster, Higher, Stronger". With a fair way to score players in all three categories, his composite score would be dramatically separate from the next closest.
    7. He is first in rebounds with Russell 10% behind him and Kareem 25% behind for the third spot.
The things holding him back in the rankings:
    1. He only played 13 full seasons (excluding his 12 games in 1969-70). And those were *full* seasons, averaging 79.5 games each, missing only 33 games combined in those 13 seasons. So he did not play as long as some other Top-10 players like Kareem, LeBron, or Kobe, but he is still 7th in points. So while he lacks the longevity of some, he definitely had the durability.
    2. Blocks were not counted until after his last season playing. He would have needed to average less than 4 blocks/game to top that list, and watching the game footage which is available suggests he would shatter that.
    3. Rings. He "only" had 2. The rest of my Top 10 are Michael, LeBron, Kareem, Russell, Magic, Bird, Duncan, Kobe, Shaq. If the Mt Rushmore of coaches is Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Gregg Popovich, every single other Top-10 player had one of these as his coach or exec. So rather than talking about Wilt's teams and Bill's teams, instead keep Wilt's teams the same and give him Phil Jackson as his coach for 7-8 years. In the 1960s, Bill one 9 rings and Wilt won the other one. I think with Phil Jackson as his coach, Wilt might have easily won 3-5 of the 10. With 4-6 total rings, added to everything else, I think it is pretty easy to say he is Top-2 or Top-1.
    4. Attitude. See #3, having a Mt Rushmore head coach. Michael was all about the numbers, until he wasn't because of Jackson. Kobe was selfish, until he was manageably selfish. LeBron couldn't get over the hump until he signed with Pat Riley. Kareem only had one title, despite being the best (or one of two best with ABA-Dr J) in the 70s until he had Pat Riley as his asst / head coach. Sure, Wilt won with Riley too, but Riley the role player
