Prototype ROVRLAB 3rd Brake Light Install

- How did I get to product test the prototype third brake light from ROVRLAB? I initially got in contact with him about his dome light conversion kits. After talking about making content on that product he sent me a picture of the third brake light and I IMMEDIATELY knew I had to get my hands on one.

Make a cnc billet part and anodize it. On the back side cnc a grove/ channel to allow a gasket to lay in.
I want to look into an option like that down the road once we know this one works well
Anodizing will fade 100% of the time unfortunately. Powder coat or something like would be much better.
Rovr doing the lords work. I’ve emailed other companies and they seem to put that thought for the 2nd gen in the back.

@@desertdime yo, just thought about this. What is the possibility of having a rear camera in that spot. Been wanting a camera in that spot for a while and no one has produced one for the Tacoma.
@@nchacon1984could be a sick option. Thats something you’d have to talk to ROVRLAB about and see if he can accommodate

definitely needs to be billet though
Aluminum would work just fine and it won’t rust billet would just be too expensive even to manufacture
Would love to see that interior light adapter done up in grey to match headliner; wonder if that color can be 3d printed?

What about angling maybe the center one down a little for use as a cargo light?
The outer lights which are wired to the switch do a surprisingly great job at illuminating the bed. The only spot it doesn’t hit is about 1/4 of the bed closest to the truck. But as far as the center one goes, that’s wired up as the brake light which illuminates when the pedal is pushed. I personally would also want that one angled straight back so people can clearly see it when I’m braking

Anti-theft? Seems like anyone could hop up there and crank those screws
I haven’t ran an evilmfg third brake light but I’d assume that would be the same case with their light right? I will say the strong adhesive on the weather seal and the fact that all 3 lights are wired up act as an “anti-theft” of sorts. Not saying they couldn’t take it still but it deters to a certain degree
