Folks, thanks for these videos. Have been laid aside by my traitorous body refusing to act like I am 30 again, instead of my 80 years. Consequently, my husband has been wearing ear plugs against the replays of Virtual Railfan videos for past several years. Scenes change, the trains change in number and volume, but the Darwin Award winners are still trying for the win, fools that they appear. And the bear from young cub to hulking young adolescent bear hood, we have seen him/her frequently. Again thanks for all of the memories on the high iron!
My grandparents house was right next to the water level route (4 tracks) with a great backyard for watching trains. I remember as a young boy playing in the back yard when a very slow moving Penn Central train came through and the whole train was hauling wrecked cars. Man, the train action was non stop back then when Penn Central and Conrail ran.
0:10 A perfect start with N&W 611! 1:22 New York and Atlantic MP15 (seen again at 6:16) 3:40 ALC42s 318 and 319 trailing on the Capitol Limited. 319 has its engine room light on while 318 does not 4:04 bear sprinting across the street! Didn't want to end up like his friend 5:27 another Burlington junction Unit, this one seems to be an SW1200 (seen again at 9:33) 6:50 BNSF H3 gevo, H2 dash 9, and NS slug rebuilt from an ALCO RSD12! 7:27 a P42 with one Metroliner cab car 7:49 executive MAC and H1 dash 9 as DPU 8:16 EMD export units! I'm not sure where they are headed to 8:35 three wrecked NS units being moved by flatbed 9:55 These idiots crossed right in front of a train with a BNSF, UP, and CSX triple-header 10:56 MOW equipment at Paradise at night 12:05 K&O's SP gray unit leading along with a unit still in CN colors (ex-CN 4010 is seen again in the next clip on a different train) 13:25 nice old flatbed truck (which spilled its load) and a new Bronco 14:44 three units pulling large MOW equipment! One unit usually suffices, but the were smart and combined it with a power move 15:53 so you can see the Capitol Limited from the Cumberland camera!

Is this the last of the Revelstoke bear until spring? Did the conductor in Elkhart give the Darwin candidates a one finger salute? (Not that it is in poor taste.) High rate of speed and an unsecured load in Ashland. What could possibly go wrong?

The deer had that look like Hey, Amtrak left without me! The CSX freight @ :48 has 5 gons of ties headed for their creosote treatment and the 4th is vintage Seaboard Coast Line and the cars of ballast behind with reporting marks BB Buckingham Branch
Does anyone know what happened to those 2 badly damaged locomotives? The three on the flatbeds are 8130, 7119, and 9646 respectively. I found photographic evidence of 7119 clearly visible at the front of a derailment, and a photo of two locomotives of a similar (or exact) make and model on their sides but no visible markings. This derailment happened sometime in July 2022, in Columbia, S.C.

At 3:18 there's a BNSF engine one hopper car and one passenger/ baggage car. I've seen this train in other videos and I'm sure this has been asked before, but what is this train and what's its purpose. Thanks
Q: 8:15 Why did they transport those shiny new locomotives on a flatbed car? Why not latch them on and tow them conventionally? The damaged ones at 8:25, it makes total sense, but the new ones?
Good reasons off the top of my head: 1. might be the wrong gauge 2. likely don't use janney couplers (although there are workarounds) 3. may not be built strong enough to safely operate in US freight service

If the second guy in the bicycle falls for a second or trips on the track…. He is toast. Very dangerous! I wonder why the conductor didn’t use the horn long before they attempted the crossing.
Pieces of metal put up to block the glare from lights behind them. If they weren't there, all you would see is lens flare. You can see them in daylight at 6:21.
The Grab Bags would be better served if someone would take the time to point out what was so interesting. We know that adults waving at the cameras is supposed to be exciting. We know the Canadian bear is “cute”. Blah, blah, blah! Give us something to enjoy!

Industrial switcher ran away and derailed fouling the main, intermodal train struck it and derailed.

Sad for us N-scale modeler to see NS-8130 damaged. It is one of the road numbers of Kato’s line of GE locomotives. 😢
