Love this guy, his knowledge is endless. His knowledge of edible plants alone is a reason to watch him.
Crazy how he spends most of his life learning about plants.
Absolutely
You know how many lives this guy has saved just fir watching and listening to his knowledge? Lol definitely has saved mine if I ever get stranded or something lol
He knows about plants but not deer 😂
The guy is a sheet rocker that went on Alone survival challenge and did not make it, He tapped out after getting completely soak and wet after 50 days
Nobody should be criticizing you for anything Greg. Your awesome, informative, innovative, humble, and very tactical. Thank you for these. I enjoy watching and listening to you and how you process things. (very practical and easy going)
thanks so much
Drama queen. I can't see any negative comments. Lol
@@OvensRockyMountainBushcraftbig love from Bristol UK mate, you’re a true man and role model in this modern day lost way of today
Ethical hunter gatherer. Thanks for setting such a good example for the kids out there. Chapeau.
couldnt have said it better myself.
Karma is a Bitch
I’m 17 and this guy makes me go out in the woods start a fire and make a grill with some food and build a shelter what an inspiration you are thank you
The way His daughter smile while he was talking is just legit
I don't know why it struck me so much but I immediately scrolled down to look for this comment. Such a simple thing but gave me such wholesome and down to earth vibes!
I also did the SAME thing
yep
When I'm having an anxious day, Greg Ovens is my medicine,
I usually have a cup of coffee and a joint while I watch some Greg ovens 😃
Yeah
amen dude
I definitely wish he posted more often. Know whatcha mean!!
Pure medicine watching a guy do what he loves to do. I mostly drink a redwine watching him. Greets from germany
Your film editor has the greatest sense of humor
Smart too, never even tried touching on the "Worcestershire sauce" pronunciation LOL
Long shot but if that editor happens to read this, for future ref it's pronounced wuss-ter-sha but the -sha is usually missed off. For the past 50 years, and back to my great grandmother for at least 70 years before that, just called it "Worcester (wuss-ter) sauce". It's less tongue-trippy, once you know how to correctly pronounce "Worcester" of course ;)
Isn't Fowler still editing these?
@@OldSchoolPrepper probably Fowler's editor to be exact.

I noticed you from alone, now I got a really good TH-cam entertainer and a better education about the land than any school could teach
Greg I've worked in the herbal industry in Canada for 30 years-your knowledge of plants is incredible-thanks for taking time to teach us. Great channel
Im sitting here in Scotland eating "pot Noodles". Ever feel that life is passing you by?
that makes two of us
Definitely
Im in Scotland too, no idea how we'd even go about deer hunting
I grew up in Bellshill and as a teen in the 70's, the burger/Pot noodle van guy, on a Friday night after we came out the pub, used to keep me and my mates the extra pot noodle sauces nobody wanted - heaven!!!
I like him
Utility knife for skinning. This is peak Ovens and I love it.
AND Greg explained why! Bet it works on fish as well.
It actually works really good. I take my utility knife with a strait and a hooked blade, as well as my big bush knife

I listen to Steve rinellas podcast. And he has a saying, "you should never be surprised when you hit your animal".

My Grandpa(R.I.P.) lived through The great depression in America. Oldest of 11 brothers and sisters. His Dad left to find work and died. He was given 1 bullet a day to put meat in the pot. No pressure. He taught me to take my time, camouflage, scent discipline, sound discipline and windage. The best hunter I have ever known.
I finally went to Canada in 2018-19, A total of 3 times; Fort Frances twice and Kenora twice. I am Native American, I know in Canada we are called First Nations. My daddy is Fort Peck Sioux from Montana. I love Canada. Your video made me miss my friends I made there. I'd love to try your back strap with the marinate. Loved the video! God bless!
Я немного понимаю английский язык. Мужик, у тебя реально классные выпуски. Да и вообще, выглядишь нереально брутально и круто. Супер!

Hi Greg, just wanted to let you know I tried your marinade tonight. My girlfriend and I are very, very impressed and will be saving that recipe for future cook ups. We used about a third of what you recommended on 2 medium sized porterhouse steaks. Delicious!!!!! Love from Australia
I just came across this channel. Greg, you seem so humble and down to Earth. I love your hunting ethics and overall personality. Keep up the excellent content. Subscribed!
Man This Brings Back Great Memories, Only thing missing is a , 2 or 3 pound rainbow trout. piece of tin foil, lemon, butter few slices of onion, tomato, Garlic fresh, all on inside of trout ,some nice coals , 10 minutes. on each side. and a nice homemade rootbeer soda , My Mouth is actually watering lol , God Bless All
My dad had a Ford Explorer Sports Trac and we took it to Wyoming from Pennsylvania. Great gas mileage and we brought back 4 coolers of deer meat home. Beautiful buck, Greg. Trophy meat and antlers. Just grabbed a couple of pkgs of backstraps out of the freezer for tomorrow. Gotta try that marinade!! Thanks, Greg!!
What I really LOVE about Greg, is, he's right out there in the wilds "Doin' It!" I'm very appreciative of his willingness to share and teach his skills to anyone who will listen! Thank you Greg1 It's really appreciated!
Raining here so what to do??? Then a Greg Ovens video drops!!! Oh hell yeah!
Great job Greg. We also process our own deer. When it comes to the back strap we cut them into "butterfly" steaks. Take that thick cut you made and go down the middle till there is just a little meat left to hold the two sides together. They make it a bigger steak and still so good! I'm going to try that marinade you made as well!
If you ever read this comment Greg, I love your videos and can’t get enough of watching your videos. Amazing, wish you all the best man.
I desperately need this channel right now. I'm one of your downstairs neighbors over in the States, and it's been a hellish week. Thank you for this content, Greg and PLEASE always stay safe out there
How can anyone dislike these?this guy inspires me..
I love the fact that Greg, out of any doubt, proves that you don't need any fancy gear to get things done in the bush. Keep on Greg!
A smile on my face when greg uploads. AND ITS A HUNTING VIDEO TOO
what you do when no one is watching, that speaks to who you are and who you want to be
Can I just say that I truly appreciate you, Ovens. Thank you.
Totally agree with you when it comes to ethical shooting an animal

You make me want to leave the life I have here in Maryland and move to the Rockies and live mostly off the land. Love your videos!
I live in the same state and was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago... lol
I feel that man, I want to live a life like his
I think that all the time too. But the I think about how much experience Greg has and that I've only watched videos from my nice bed in the AC
Gregs B-Roll is really getting good, some good footage with the shallow focus etc. Thumbs up! Also enjoyed the crop edit of Greg's daughter smirking! Can I suggest a video idea? Take all of his videos with Weed, seeds and anything as such and make a Gregs Guide to Seed's, Weeds and Other Needs. Edit all his tricks, finds and things he uses for cooking in the wild. Missed opportunity to use the sweet garlic seeds in his meal at the end, would have fit well!
Keep it up Greg and Zack and Co.
Is Gregs daughter keen to speak about her dad in a video? Showing her recall his adventures or stories of her dad would be a nice touch. If not a dedicated video, as an edit in with them riding along in a truck or having her join him for an overnight camp.
You keep it real Greg, love your channel. Also I love how your daughter looks at you, she knows she has a good dad.
I respect this guy when it comes to hunting a true hunter will only take a shot that will give the animal with one shot keep up the good work mate
I appreciate how you take into consideration the animals well being also. You don't wish to do harm, you want it to be quick and painless. I have seen some horrible ways people treat their animals let alone the food they are going to consume. No cruelty ❤
I'm a city boy but my heart wants the wilderness
Most of humanity has been herded like cattle into cities. We need to get back to nature.
Greg, it's easy to see that you're a great dad, just by the way your daughter looked in your direction. She's quite proud. 🤗

It was nice seeing you with your daughter. Thanks for all the info you help us learn
Thanks for watching!
The editing in these videos is so great. It's nothing groundbreaking but its very much appreciated and honestly that's all I'm looking for.
Greg i really like your attention to nourishing survival through deep plant research. There is no-ways a person can remain healthy on just meat. There are vitamins and especially trace elements only found in plants. Your channel has to be one of the TOP balanced survivalist channels out there. Many kudos to you bro. Maybe it just my age and similar upbringing that meshes with you. But Viewers, don't take ANYTHING Greg advocates lightly. Covid permitting, this man will survive the most extreme survival conditions. Believe me. I'm his age. I do what he does and I have had, and survived covid. This lifestyle will SAVE YOUR LIFE IN THESE LAST DAYS
Wow usually I’m very against hunting but the way this man does it just make me feel okay about the whole thing ? It’s feels natural. He actually utilizes the meat and cares about a clean shot. I have nothing but respect! Great video :)
THAT is what hunters are ‘supposed’ to be taught. Respect for the animal, NEVER take a bad shot, and use and harvest ALL the animal. Every Canadian hunter I know abides by these rules. Can’t speak on the rest, but, it appears many are not in it for the food, but merely conquest, which (I believe) to be morally bankrupt. Greg Ovens stands for what is good about harvesting all plant and animal, and for that he deserves the respect you’ve stated.
My new favorite outdoors show. Greetings from Prince George.
he's so proud of his marinate. I like it LOL
from what people are saying its pre good

greg when you hunt the buffalo you should make yourself a mountain man parka. would love to see a video like that.
I just wanna say with Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, they're both fermented and acidic enough to break down connective tissue, so the vinegar is superfluous if it doesn't add flavor, which I can't imagine it doing in such a small quantity in comparison.

Congrats on the buck. I hunted for years and never managed to sack a 10 point and where I come from if u can hang a ring on it then that counts as a a point. So that was probably a 12 point.

10:33 I was like dang must have found some gold in those hills.
I was actually looking at the very first scene with the mountain runoff. I'm sure there's gold in that pile. I tried panning a tiny runoff in a creek last summer and found a bunch (20 specs) of fine gold. I just hope the mound will be there next summer... The recent heavy rain and flooding might have cleaned out the creek...
20 minutes feels like 1 minute when I'm watching your videos
I wonder how many times elk hunters call back and forth to each other thinking they are talking to an elk?

Hey Greg you have great videos. I am not sure if you know this or not. but when you put your coffee grounds in water with no filter that's OK. Because all you have to do to keep the coffee grounds from floating on top of the hot water is put snow or cold water on top and the coffee grounds will sink straight to the bottom of your cup.
