Great review. Checked this out last month and am happy to see a review of it on TH-cam, FINALLY. Confirms all I felt about the book. Great review! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I feel like the hacker story was added later only for a small, probably unnecessary point with Evrim near the end of the book. I think that because his story just ends randomly and is never brought up again. Besides that I loved this book, and thought the reveal was pleasantly chilling.
This was so helpful. I had a hold on it at my library and they must've got rid of it because it said no longer available. I was just questioning if it would be worth it to request it again and you helped me decide to go for it. I love Arrival the movie and want to read it too.
Hmm over fishing and pushing our earths limit. Sounds familiar… 👀. This sounds so cool though! And I love the narratives coming together. When you first explained it reminded me a lot of Resident Evil. Just with biohazards, multiple narratives, and mutations and all. 😅
Hey I just finished this book. I agree with the same vibes of Arrival (the movie) or Story of You (short story). I really enjoyed the hardness of this novel in terms of the biology/neuroanatomy. I think its easily one of the best books i've read this year. I am not sure if 4 stars is a good rating for you, but hope you enjoyed it like I did.
Thanks for watching! Overall I really enjoyed this book, especially the philosophical elements of the story and the scenes on the island with the octopuses - there just some parts of the story which didn't interest me so much, which held me back from giving it 4.5 or 5.
