Fantastic work , delicious food , what amazes me is how the development of the cooking method has changed , pork belly for instance , either in the oven or blazing hot coal then you get a smokiness taste, nice , great selection of dishes . Happy Sunday everyone .
Good morning, Flo first off, I came across you channel by accident I was looking for a recipe for my griddle to make beef and broccoli and your video popped up, so I watched it. And now I'm hooked You are so easy and enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
This is very interesting video. I don’t celebrate Chinese New Year because I’m not Chinese I’m a citizen of the USA and descended from the Irish but I enjoy learning about the cuisine of other cultures.
I'm a US Citizen via Hawaii. I'm Portuguese Chinese Hawaiian. You don't have to be Chinese to celebrate Chinese New Years (Kung Hee Fa Choy). I give you permission to celebrate.
HCNY! Thank you for bringing classic recipes throughout the year. They bring wonderful memories and opportunities pass some of these undocumented recipes to the next generation.
Flo, I love your videos. I have saved so many. Because I am GF and dairy free, Southeast Asian cooking is my favourite cuisine. So, my question is- in the sticky rice why don't you use garlic and ginger?
I guess traditionally it does not have ginger and garlic in it. Even when making regular fried rice, I hardly, if ever use ginger and garlic. And the sticky rice is already packed full of flavour and doesn’t need ginger and garlic. That’s just my opinion, of course.
Happy upcoming Chinese New Year to you and your family and friends! Thank you so much for your videos!! I was born in the year of the rabbit and I’m a “wood” rabbit 🐇 ☺️😋🎊 🎉🎏🪅
A Flo and Dude Bonanza!! What a great video…my mouth was watering watching you prepare all those great dishes. The pork belly is definitely on my “to do” list! TFS and Happy Sunday! Sharon🤗♥️🍜🐉
Happy Year of the Dragon Flo Dude and Family! The dishes are outstanding. I’m going to make all of them for Chinese New Year. Sticky rice and Wonton l could make ahead. Chicken and pork in the morning 👍 Thanks a million Flo ❤
Thank you so much for sharing with us another beautiful video and happy Chinese New Year’s to you too. Thanks for sharing this beautiful culture and how you celebrate. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy, and Debbie.

These are awesome recipes, questions I have a very large pork belly is it possible to cook all of at once then make different recipes with it later kind a like buying a large Chuck roast braising it and then freezing what you don’t use for different recipes later😊
Hi Flo. I love all your tips and recipes. I love to cook Chinese meals for friends and family. My challenge these days is the need to prepare meals a day or two days ahead of time. That’s why I have avoided preparing Chinese dishes for gatherings. Would you ever consider how to prepare your dishes ahead of time and how to reheat in your videos. I have just realized there are Chinese dishes that can be prepared ahead and reheated. I have now incorporated these dishes and my family loves them. Thank you for your ministry. Have a blessed day. 11:54
That fish bowl, I only have 2 of them. Wondering where I could get the same? What is the other meat besides the lap seung? Would be available in Asian groceries?

I’ve known it to be called Chinese New Year forever. I only started hearing it referred to as Lunar new year recently. Many Asian cultures don’t celebrate it. Mostly it’s just the Chinese. Not to say that other cultures don’t celebrate it, I just don’t know. But it doesn’t surprise me that someone has decided to make it sound more politically correct.
I like that you’re using a regular eating table spoon and “eyeballing” it 😂 (my wife has several teaspoon sets, and cups 🤦🏻♂️). Also, if you cut the cooked pork belly upside down ( the skin against the cutting board, the knife cuts it like butter…ok, not literally) the 1st time my wife made this, it was perfect, 💯 of the skin was crispy/crackling, the next 3 times the skin was only 1/2 or 3/4’s crispy and the other parts were like shoe leather 🤮 I attributed it to either the inconsistency of our 23 year old oven, or perhaps the cut of meats that we got were so inconsistent. But we will try the air fryer next time. Gung hay fat choy And thanks again for sharing your awesome recipes.
I been thinking about some dish ideas I can make for the Lunar New Year and decided to make Shark Fin Soup. An imitation of the dish of course since the real one is illegal and banned.
I would love the pork belly but husband hates it, love going to T & T just for the pork belly (and the Peking duck which husband also hates, how did I marry him?😂)
Chinese New Year is just around the corner! What do you do to celebrate? Happy Sunday! 💕

That was a “heaping tablespoon” of red chili sauce in the wanton sauce. Very different from a tablespoon.

As a teacher, we're told to say/ teach Lunar New Year. Is it regional? Like, different cultures call it by their culture/ ethnicity?
I’ve known it to be called Chinese New Year forever. I only started hearing it referred to as Lunar new year recently. Many Asian cultures don’t celebrate it. Mostly it’s just the Chinese. Not to say that other cultures don’t celebrate it, I just don’t know. But it doesn’t surprise me that someone has decided to make it sound more politically correct.
The West is trying so hard to eliminate the Chinese influence so no surprises that your school/ society doesn't teach the right term CNY. 😂
I like that you’re using a regular eating table spoon and “eyeballing” it 😂 (my wife has several teaspoon sets, and cups 🤦🏻♂️). Kong Hei Fatt Choi Chef ❤
I had to go gluten free to ease some digestion issues - can you recommend a gluten free oyster sauce that is good?
So the rice is just soaked over night, not pre-cooked/steamed? 🤔
For the sticky rice does the sweet rice make it sweet tasting ?
Not sure why they call it sweet rice. It’s not sweet.
@@FloLumthank you 😊
I always get intimidated by rice’ I’m good at Mexican rice made all my life’ I just to be perfect lol
I been thinking about some dish ideas I can make for the Lunar New Year and decided to make Shark Fin Soup. An imitation of the dish of course since the real one is illegal and banned.
I would love the pork belly but husband hates it, love going to T & T just for the pork belly (and the Peking duck which husband also hates, how did I marry him?😂)
Talk about inflation: The $2 billls
Like when I was a kid we only got 25 cents for a tooth. I had one silver tooth and got a dollar for that.
Can this dish be done without cucumbers 🥒
I hate the taste of small scallops. I'll go for the rest though!
✌👍
