Please do not teach wrong fundamentals. Heat is not path function, it is point function. Refer to good books...

Heat and work are path functions because they depend on the actual path traversed to move from initial to final state of the system.
For example, work done is different if a change in state of system is achieved via an isothermal process or an adiabatic process or an isochoric process or an isobaric process; even though the initial and final state of the system after individual processes are identical. The path involved in each process to move from initial state to final state is different. Hence the work and heat involved in the individual processes are different.
