    Can u store it for days jux like the regular banku and for how long pls?

    • @AmazinKitchen
      @AmazinKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is best eaten the same day. The longest I have stored this is 1 day.

    Can this be fermented? this would make it even healthier.

    • @AmazinKitchen
      @AmazinKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is best eaten fresh. I haven't tried fermenting it yet. If you do try it, please let me know how it goes.

    Great tutorial. But let’s not write off our local foods like that. The banku is also healthy. It contains probiotics found in yoghurt thanks to the fermentation the corn goes through. The quantities we eat and the ratio of the food nutrients we consume, that’s the unhealthy bit.

    • @AmazinKitchen
      @AmazinKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you so much for your feedback.🤗 Though I get the point you are trying to make, I want to emphasize that this video does not write off banku nor say banku is unhealthy. This video only provides a healthier alternative to banku. So yes, you are right, banku is healthy but oatmeal banku is healthier, based on the nutritional value of oatmeal compared to cornmeal.

    Is hot food in plastic rap a healthy way to store food?

    • @AmazinKitchen
      @AmazinKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the plastic wrap you use. What I am using is a food safe plastic wrap.

    I don’t stir my oatmeal fufu on stove, I put boiled water in bowl and stirred, very smooth and nice. I’ve been eating oatmeal fufu for over seven years now, very healthy and good for weight loss.

    Should the cooking time be reduced as oats does not need more time to be cooked?

    • @AmazinKitchen
      @AmazinKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, please. It cooks way faster than the cornmeal banku.

      This swallow is best eaten the same day, so I don't recommend keeping it in the fridge.

    Can we add a bit of salt inside while cooking it? I tried the pounded yam and I did like it because of no taste.

      I totally get you!😞 I had the same reaction the first time I had it, because I wanted it to taste exactly like banku. This is a healthier substitute for banku, so it won't taste the same. It is great for keeping your weight in check though and overall healthy.

      Deborah can I suggest you add a bit of cornmeal or corn dough to it. More than 20 years now my mum decided she preferred oatmeal to cassava dough in her banku. So she uses both corn dough and oatmeal to prepare her banku. The first time I had it more than 20 years ago, I couldn't tell the difference until she told me. So I personally have been using both corn dough and oatmeal in my banku. So in the video we watched, you could subtitute I cup of oatmeal for one cup of corn dough or your preferred amount. This would give you the taste of the banku you have come to know. But a much much healthier version. Try it. Then as you get used to the taste, you start reducing the amount of corn dough. Meaning your taste bud slowly adjusts to the Oatmeal banku. A win-win situation.
      Thanks for sharing your recipe Amazin Kitchen.👌🏼👍 Like you rightly said it is an acquired taste. Deborah I hope my suggestion helps as it works. 😍

      Don't be scared, Rhoda. You will never know if you don't try it. My husband loved it the first day he tried, but I had to try it a couple of times before liking it.

    The plastic is a no no. Hot banku in plastic, all the chemicals in the plastic.

      Not if you are using a food safe plastic wrap.
