Y’all are amazing. Keep showing the world how “it would be nice to work on a boat,” is nonsense. You and your crew work harder than 97% of the rest of the planet. Thank you from a landlubber Mainer. Also, thanks for feeding the non-keepers!!

Love the long form. Also love the shorts too. The claw spa is hilarious, I actually watch a lot of animal channels. I never knew how much I'd enjoy learning about different industries. Tom Pemberton, Pemberton Farms. Dairy cows, farming. Also the hoofgp. Who knew how fascinating watching cows get their hoofs trimmed would be. So much love goes into the animals well being. How every effort goes into the animal's health is taken care of. You've got something special here Jacob. I look forward to watching.

I also watch the HoofGP and Morgan Gold of Gold Shaw Farms in Vermont. Morgan is a really personable former city boy who started with fruit/nut trees, ducks and geese. He got chickens once he realized he couldn't eat waterfowl eggs and got a livestock guardian dogs and barn cats once he realized he needed them. He's expanded to add bees, Highland cows and tried raising a few pigs this year. He's thinking about trying sheep next year "Never goats", but not sure about continuing pigs. He likes how they cleared some land for him, but doesn't want to breed them like he does his other animals. He likes being a small-ish farmer with variety and the cycle of how different animals revive the land. He's also limited on how he can sell his livestock products due to Vermont/Federal food processing laws.

Farmers / ranchers are awesome people!! Jacob and his family farm / ranch the sea for lobsters. We farmed / ranched the prairie of So Dak. When I was a kid we sold eggs to buy groceries. The egg boxes ( 30 doz ) went in the in door and by the time you had. Shopped the eggs were candled and checked and the tab was waiting at the checkout. If you had enough eggs and not too many groceries the eggs would cover the bill!! Same with cream. Federal regulations put a stop to that long ago 😢
Farming/ ranching is the only business I know of where you invest your $$ never knowing what you will be able to get for your product at harvest. Jacob invests in equipment and diesel whether he gets a large number of lobsters or just 1 or 2. Thank You Jacob for conserving the resources of the Atlantic. ❤

No way I'm watching Cow videos. They taste way too good to risk the chance I'll stop eating them. I'll wait until my diet is mostly pudding, when the downside risk is lower, to start watching cows.

Sponsors are for the most part how a TH-camr can make money. It just depends on if Jacob will consider offers from companies. Not all are legit A lot of work goes into vetting a contract. However I'd like to see some good come his way. Any kind of gear or tools. No one complains about NASCAR drivers or football players doing endorsements.

Thank you for sharing more details about the sustainable aspect of the Maine lobster fishing industry. I think that gets lost on a lot of people who associate lobster with decadence and luxury. It may seem expensive, but that is because the industry can last indefinitely and you are paying the true cost of the product. The same goes for shellfish farming industry which is just as sustainable and as an important food source as lobsters. I hope I speak for others when I say that we would love to hear more about that side of things in the industry from someone who lives and works it. Keep up the amazing content, one of the best channels on youtube!

From another Maine sternman, Personal opinion, Keith has the correct order of operations. No point in checking the tail, sex or eggs if they’re not a keeper. Measure first. Tail second, eggs and sex third as they’re both under the tail.

Wow! I learned so much about this lobster fishing industry. 3 parts stood out.
    - The washing, cleansing and maintenance of the traps.
    - The regulations involved in sustainability for the Maine lobsters and the retail process.
    - The tracking program and its essential purpose.
Overall, what an incredibly hard job this can be in one day especially when the weather can be difficult and/or hazardous to fishing and trap maintenance.
I really respect your efforts on choosing this hard job. I also appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and teaching us about the marine life in the North Atlantic and the lobster fishing industry. Thanks for this very informative video log Jacob. Peace and Blessings to you and to all your family and friends! ☮️💟👍🥰

Storm sure was something! Shame about the Eden Star, lot of other boats. Glad to see yours is alright though.

That's awesome with AG1! It's very popular and glad to see you promoting it because I'd love to use it, as I know the supplements I take with vitamins are a game changer!
Out racing a storm is a trip! Three minutes slow will have it on you. People do not realize how dangerous the North Atlantic is and that Maine is the least populated State because the North North East weather is wicked. Alaska can't hold a candle to the North East! There are no Sea Lanes in the North Atlantic. Only the fantastic Fishermen from Maine and the North East. We thank you men SO MUCH for hauling our Seafoods and taking care of all the species of Fish you come upon. It's no joke. I swore I would NEVER touch a Fish again, with a Fish mongering background and I haven't! The sound of the cats crunching the bones are indelibly etched in my brain. For a time I worked st The Fulton Street Fish Market and never touched one. I tried and got physically ill and couldn't eat a STEAK after that!!! 😭🤣
Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing this life with us ❤ 😅

A couple questions Jacob, if I may:
1- can you even smell fish anymore?
2- are those a special type of fishing glove or just regular workman or gardner gloves that you wear?
I LOVE how informative your videos are and that’s why I love to watch. You identify the type of fish(es) you catch and usually have a snippet or two of education about the fish. You taught us today about sand worms. I love to learn about things I’ve never got to experience in life, so I thank you for that bit.
Last question. Do you catch the fish that you give as a treat or do you buy it on shore before you start? And what type of fish are those that you serve as treats?
I very much appreciate and thank you for the humanitarian way that you do treat what you catch. Yeah, you toss your catch around quickly and a lot. With 400 traps, I’m sure you have to move quickly. But I appreciate that you remove barnacles before you send them back or offer them a treat and so forth. That’s what keeps me watching also. So I appreciate your appreciation and care for all life in the ocean.

I'm sorry Mr. Knowles...a bad day setting/cooking traps is still better than any day trapped in an office!!! I'm sure you're busy getting the cabins rental ready and running that side business as well, all on top of having a very young family...but I'm really grateful for your content bc even though I was born on the prairies, my heart will always belong to the sea. God bless...

Hey Jacob you should make a few videos showing people the basics of reading the bottom machine for setting trawls in good spots and how it works setting/hauling depending on which way the tides running, maybe some nasty snarls people would be mind boggled to see the snarls we deal with sometimes
