I remember catching this train from Bham New St to Coventry, it could have been this very night. I was expecting a Voyager or Pendolino when I went down to the platform but was so happy when I saw the Class 90 and Mk3s there waiting for me. I hadn't been on a loco hauled train in years so of course I was window hanging right next to the 90, its got be done!
Great video of the Virgin pretendolino mate it's very sad to see it leave. I was on it from rugby to Birmingham new street on the last day 24.10.14. Virgin pretendolino 2009-2014.
I rode this set on the snowdonia tour a few years back, hauled by 50044. I did like the ic70 seats, reminded me of hst's back in the 80s. Felt much more roomy in the coach with those, compared with the high backs of today.
+The Original Lundun Geeza Ahhh!! they're newly built locomotives!!! I didn't realise they still built them hahaha. Their top speed is only 160 km/h though.
Hi! How are You? Another great video from You. Sad to see this beautiful passenger train finish its career and life as a passenger train still look brand new. Maybe it is time for other technologies to take over. Thanks for this superb sharing. Take good care and be safe and have a nice day.
The reason this was put into service, when that 390 crashed at grayling. Manager:WHAT DO WE DO,WE ARE A SET DOWN?! Engineer:Just get a mark 3 set with a 90.
How are you allowed into the driver cabs and kitchens off all these trains you go on? I've been fascinated by trains for the past few months it's become a hobby of mine id die to go in a drivers can
+rachaelmatt I caught this train from New Street to Coventry, maybe on this very evening! I was on the last carriage at the rear next to the loco (a dark blue class 90 if I remember correctly) that was pushing the train.
Expanding on what Ciaran 100 said, the reason they needed another train in there fleet is due to the Grayrigg derailment, they have another Pendolino however now.
+DieselPowerFinland If you are talking about the escalating sound. That is how electric moters sound like. Even the London Underground motors sound the same. Also its not A Push pull its a Powerhouse and a DVT.

Great Vid Matt :) I rode on it to & from Birmingham International I filmed it both ways in parts very sad to see it go.

Wearing your heart on your sleeve!! Some amazing sounds too.
I love locomotives!! it's a shame they're slowly getting replaced by EMUs
+The Original Lundun Geeza That is music to my ears!!! Thank you :)
+The Original Lundun Geeza Ohh didn't know that. I'll check that class out.

+The Original Lundun Geeza Great! nice to know. thanks.
+The Original Lundun Geeza cool. Thanks for the info!
So sad. These awesome trains were much better and cooler than shitty pendolinos!
The Pendolino's are better then this bad comment atleast.
I understand boy
A wonderful tribute video of the Pretendolino dude :)
It certainly was a full rake again when I saw it last week, had loco 90 015 on it :)

What speed was the train doing between rugby and london euston
Would've been about 110 mph I'm guessing
well it's done well if that particular train has been used for 35 years
The sound of the Mk3 coaches is almost like they're weeping... :( (2:20)
I have watched five minutes' worth to arrival in Coventry. THAT'S YOUR STATION!
Another great video
I think I remember seeing it one time. Such a shame.
2:47 Holy crap that's my local station.
PinkThornRacing I now know where you live (evil laugh)
Why does it sound like the coaches have powered axles? It sounds very similar to the various EMUs.
Why do the MK3s and DVT sound like a 313?
Might be not last ever used... Maybe still use it or temporary express service for a business or country airport passenger as usual, isn't???
What causes that noise as it departs Birmingham international, sounds like an emu
its sad to see it go but i like the. way that is speed
So no more operations for the pretendolino with virgin trains? Well at least greater anglia still has train sets like that.
RailMaster104 look out in 2019, Abellio are replacing _every_ train they have with Stadlers & Aventras
Honourably Spotting Trains And Northern replacing Those buses and the EMU
Umm greater Anglia got this and I saw it once at liv street. Then Transpennine got some carriges and I saw them at crewe Arriva depot
I really hope that Porterbrook lease this out to Virgin again but it looks really unlikely :(
Awesome video
Love it!
Is it being scrapped? if not then where is it's new home going to be?
Bah, another boring Greater Anglia I assume? :(
Indeed.
The Return of the Pretendolino had happened! on the ECML`
Are these a class 91
Class 90

Kitchens? That was just a brief pan around of the buffet because the door was open. I never go in the cab, just my camera does ;)

Just ask the driver... it's not a plane.
Josh Rowlands The driver has let me in the cab before of a class 390
@@staticz3172 I remember sitting in a cab of a MML hst at Sheffield and the driver tuned his horn for me and class 91 at kings x
How dare virgin retire th Mark 3 set.
they got it because they couldn't afford a new pendo after the crash in 2007
Abellio greater Angila are now using this train.
Ben Hudson Untill 2019 :(
@@HST_Productions they are going to scotrail i believe
@@jfw0382 Nah I wouldn't think Class 90s + DVTs are going to Scotrail, they're getting HSTs instead and the 385s
I'm going to heathrow today!! Are you, would be great to meet you there!!
I've seen pendolino's but not pretendolino's
its just a pair of 220`s joined up to make 10 cars quiet common with Virgin Trains
what?!
Don't you mean 221s . 220s only have 4 coaches so it must of been a 8 coach train not a 10
why is it the last ever service?
They only used it due to a shortage of a real pendolinos so now they have got one they no longer need that pretendilino
Expanding on what Ciaran 100 said, the reason they needed another train in there fleet is due to the Grayrigg derailment, they have another Pendolino however now.
Why is it called Pretendolino?
Basically, a Virgin Pendolino (class 390?) Derailed a few years back. They needed a replacement and this was temporary. It was nicknamed Pretendolino.
WTF is that sound after 10:32? It sounds like an old EMU train, but it is push and pull train.
+DieselPowerFinland If you are talking about the escalating sound. That is how electric moters sound like. Even the London Underground motors sound the same. Also its not A Push pull its a Powerhouse and a DVT.
class 90:)
@@Abracadanie1 but the sound is being emitted from the MK3 coaches.
RIP
Seeing hsts go is worst
