Thank you so much for this info. I feel like it has been FOREVER since I've seen someone address boxcar scarring and these types of texture issues. And, like WHY? There are so many new techniques and products on the market with no real guidance how they work with textured skin like ours. After watching your first couple of videos I immediately went through my brushes and kit and made changes based on your advice. Ok so I have a BUNCH of questions. Sorry. First of all, after reading the comments on your page and watching a few of your videos I started playing around with using a Brightener, like for dark circles on my scars (you mentioned trying to make them look less dark,) I am using a thick version, the one from Tacha. I guess I'll see how that works. Thoughts? Do you find using the new products that claim to 'plump' skin help make scarring less visible? Thoughts on Dermablend makeup for scarring? Do you ever use a sponge in your routine at all? ( I live in a hot climate and use it with setting spray just to hold my face in place.) Sorry for the book. Thanks again!
@@MSchill Hey! Ive tried plumpers it sounds like they would help but I haven't noticed a difference yet! at least with the ones ive tried 😩 let me know if you notice a difference please! I think a brightener could help im testing some new techniques to see if I notice a difference with color corrector. Its a very fine line because if you go too light with something it could end up bringing more attention to it so it has to be subtle. Its funny I was just considering buying derflage and making a video on it soon. From info Ive gathered it does help the appearance but makeup doesn't sit well on top of it. So thats what I want to find out for myself! Haha hope I answered your questions!
Co2 laser will remove acne scars. Here in Florida it's $1,000 for an area. Both cheeks are considered 1 area. You will need to be off from work for about 8 days.
I have a similar routine for my scars and one no-no for me is setting sprays! If I spray my face my scars become really evident, probably because of the dewy effect most sprays have on the skin.
@@emma-my8bn I have similar scars to her and C02 did not work for me. 😞 The place I got it done is very reputable. I have acne scars too and let me tell you what I've starting doing I do a combination of a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C drops and collagen drops I put a couple drops of each of my palm mix them together apply that to your skin after that I let it sit for about 5 minutes take Neutrogena zinc sunblock 50 (has to be the white sunblock) dab on skin and blend over whole face with a brush let it dry for about 2-3 minutes. Then I use Elf primer and do the same procedure. Next use a light powder that matches your skin apply over the whole face, add blush and a little concealer under eyes and beside the nose/cheeks. After about 30 minutes it all combines and your skin will change and almost look scar-less! I have kinda deep scaring and this really works. Wish all people knew about this! The skin LOVES the zinc from the Neutrogena 50 zinc sunblock!
I bought 25% TCA online and started doing a very light TCA peel once a month. I do it super light so it just flakes off, instead of a heavy peel that I’d have to miss work for. My skin is totally changed in about 6 months. It was like $50 and I still have my original bottle. I use it like a toner about once a month. Acne scars totally faded and my skin is so even! Try it! Thank you so, so much! I have dealt with acne scars all of my life and never knew how to make them look better. You don't know how much I appreciate this.
The reason that "skin blurring" primers don't work for very textured or pitted skin is bcuz it doesn't just nestle into the little valleys. It also coats the raised bumps and makes a layer over them, enhancing them. As a makeup artist, i think this makeup technique she's teaching is great!
I have just come across your channel. I have been struggling with acne scars for years. (I'm 66) Thank you so much for showing us these techniques. I will definitely try them.

So lovely! I can only imagine how lovely this lady will look with eye and lip makeup as well. I got some great ideas from this - thank you. And the products are affordable.
Great video thanks I will try the powder foundation trick. I have brown skin and pitted scars like yours on my cheeks. I never contour because any bronzer on my cheeks highlights the scars even more and use blusher sparingly. Ive gone through dozens of foundation and found only one which is 'okay' is the Nars sheer glow. I use my fingers to apply and gently press it into the area with scars instead of brushing/stippling as that is the only method I've found which makes them least obvious. Primer on my cheeks also makes the scars obvious so only use it on my nose and forehead. You're totally right about avoiding any highlighter or shimmer on the scarry areas.
Beautiful video. You know, now that I am older, I appreciate all the more videos or tutorials like yours and I appreciate them from a deeper level --- not superficial but because they make you feel good. In this day and age, there is so much insecurity, mental health struggle especially because of the internet so yes, you do you, girl. You do what makes you happy and mentally healthy, and wow, you ARE gorgeous!!!
If your makeup isn't looking good after using a silicone-based primer, you're most likely using a water-based foundation. Oil and water don't mix. Use a silicone-based primer with a silicone based foundation, and a water-based primer with a water-based foundation. This solves the world's problem of cakey, and separated looking makeup.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. Not really sure if it was directed towards me or you were just giving some advice! Absolutely oil and water dont mix. I avoid primer because its mostly a gimmick. Doesnt really help foundation stay any longer. All you need is good skin prep. If someone is extremely oily then I may need to go in with something and spot treat! But just like you said about primer and foundation you need to make sure the ingredients you are prepping with are fine to use with your foundation type as well. ❤
My husband uses the Banisher 2.0 CONSISTENTLY for 5 yrs to help with his scars. Now his skin is way better than mine, not acne prone or high maintenance anymore. Love this makeup routine. 🥹🫶

I stumbled upon your channel and found this helpful. It’s comforting to know a beautiful woman like yourself also struggles with having acne scarring. How do you go about feeling confident even with the scarring? I always feel as if my hubby or others are looking at my scarring rather than me. Makes me feel super uneasy…
I appreciate your kind words. to be honest its hard to feel confident, knowing my skin never looks "flawless" is hard to deal with sometimes. I totally know what you mean about feeling like people only see the scars. Im still searching and trying to find anything that can possibly help but also trying to accept it as Ive had them for a long time and nothing has helped fix them. Im sure your husband doesn't see that when he looks at you, as use to think that too! God knows how many times Ive cried to my husband about my skin. It was really hard for me to make a youtube video showing my scarring but I knew there had to be other people dealing with the same thing. 💗
I too have acne scars and I wish there were just products for people with acne..I have the same problem with or without makeup I feel people are staring at me.
@@chelseagiachello4367 yes, i hope cosmetics developer would feature more on the real skin who has pitted acne scars, pigmentation, textures and show REAL MODELS who have this condition. Then, prove that their product works. Let's see how their response would be !!!
Glitter and shimmer is ok :) I would say contour is on my no list, if the scars are around the cheeks but bronzer that is just a shade or two up looks nice. IMO the lighter the layers are the better.
Yes definitely less is more on any type of texture. But I still like a full face of makeup :) bronzer or contour could definitely be difficult to achieve on the scarring if you don't properly set the scarring areas first. Too much product and shimmer bring out any texure on the skin. But im gad you are finding what is working for you! Thanks for the comment ❤
Omg finally a video for someone who has the same scars. I've searched many many times for one. Thank you! I have a question, for it to work the same way as it does for you would I need to use the same products you use? I only use foundation and concelear but my face never looks like yours. Just wondering if I need to get the products you're using. Thank you again!
Hey Janet! No you do not need to use the exact same products as me. Im always changing products and trying new things :) some products work better for me than others and I do have preferences. What are you currently using? The lighting im using while filming does soften the scarring a little bit. Looking foward to hearing back ❤
@@chelseagiachello4367 yay thank you so much for responding. I use NYX born to glow liquid foundation, Maybelline instant age rewind concelear, hoola bronzer, and sometimes urban decay pressed powder. It's very minimal but I felt the less the worse my scars will look lol and I blend it with a regular flat brush.
@@janetglass3396 If you like those products I would keep using them. Ive never used that nyx foundation, but I see that it has some glow to it. If its minimal that is fine but if it has too much shimmer it could bring more attention to those areas. Most of the time less is more when it comes to any type of texture on the skin. But I personally like a full face of makeup most of the time :) Are your scars primarily on your cheeks? I like to put a little powder with coverage on my cheeks before I do bronzer. I made a video on it if you havent seen it. Please let me know if you have any other questions ❤
Love your tips! Your channel is the only channel I've found that properly addresses this issue! Definitely gonna try them out. Just had a small question, 1. Was the concealer you applied on your face a shade or two lighter than your foundation, would it be the same shade we use to highlight the under eyes? I would also appreciate it if you could add more product reviews if possible! Would love to hear your take on them Thanks!
Hi, thank you so much! Yes the concealer I used is a little lighter than my foundation. And it is the same one I used for my highlight 👍 absolutely I will do some product reviews in the near future ❤
I’d love some recommendations on base products because A LOT of foundation formulas emphasize my pores and scars. I just can’t find the right foundation 😞
it hurts a lil bit when you're so beautiful by face symmetry and geometry of eyes and nose and forehead and all but you've acne scars (although it can be reduced to good extent but that costs pretty good) :) you're beautiful mam ☺
Thank you so much 💓 wish I saw myself thar way! Ha! Yeah that will cost a pretty penny to do treatments and its still wouldn't be a garentee they would be healed 🥺 thanks again 🥰
Hi there! I am really enjoying your videos- I completed stopped wearing foundation all together after wearing it for years! I had no idea that I probably was putting on too much- bc without anything- the scarring looks less noticeable (I’ve also had several series of photo facials, dermaplaning, chemical peels over many years- including my foundation years). I still have scarring, similar to yours, combo skin, and my t-zone will become oily. I don’t think I ever established a good prep routine- thanks to you, I didn’t know it was so huge! ☺️ of a step that is. 😁 Anyway, recommendations for skin prep and foundation AND finding the right color- holy moley- that is ALWAYS my biggest issue- to give you and idea of my color- the last foundation I wore was IT cosmetics full coverage foundation in LIGHT; I never used concealer (probably bc I didn’t understand how to use it), I’d use one pump and it was plenty, then I’d dust my face with their “air brush” powder I believe. I like that idea of pressing pressed foundation powder into the “texture” areas (also- love you call it that 🤗) I didn’t know that was a thing either- totally hear ya on “anything that works”. Lastly, and I’ll stop my novel haha I recently signed up to try that IL Makiage and am pending to receive it- all the tutorials all say the opposite of what you suggested- it’s crazy how other people are not honest like you are here. Anyway, thank you for being honest, brave and you’re beautiful! It’s so nice to see how beautiful makeup can look on textured skin like ours and read about other women who’ve struggled like I have. Appreciate your responses 😌
Hey! You are so sweet! Thank you so much ❤ I agree that the scarring looks less noticeable without makeup, less is definitely more and I suggest doing thin layers only adding it in areas that need coverage. For skin prep on my clients I would use the Sonia Roselli brand. The creator is an Esthetician and Makeup artist. Its a little pricey but worth it for skin prep. Do you use any skin care currently? Did you like the It cosmetics foundation? did the color match? I see that the light shade is in their warm undertone range. Is there any other foundations you've tried and liked or disliked? Just trying to get some more info about your skin 🙂 hope to hear back!
Omg- with IT cosmetics I was in “Medium”, not light - apologies for confusion. The Light was with bare minerals. I honestly don’t remember the color with Clinique. Thanks 😊
Your makeup techniques are so helpful. I know most people have acne scars on their cheeks, but do you have an techniques for covering a pitted acne scar on your chin? Thanks
Hi, Thank you! I would follow the same techniques, no shimmers or highlights that would draw attention. stipple the product in and maybe add a concealer a little bit lighter but not too light in that area to make it appear more forward!
So helpful!!! Sorry to see you aren't posting anymore, but thank you for this! PS i see you are still a pretty new mom, mine didnt sleep thru the night til 18 months. Take all the time you need, i sub'd in case it works out for you to come back :)
I have really ugly skin with scars on top of being ugly in general. I know I'll always be ugly but even a little help is nice, thank you for the video.
Surene! This makes my heart hurt. I have terrible skin as well, along with horrible scarring from acne but that’s okay! Some days I struggle with this as well but don’t put your worth in your skin. I’m sure you are beautiful internally and externally. Focus on your self concept and you will see that you start to glow from the inside out 😊 chin up, you’re loved!
Hi Surene, Im sorry you feel this way. I have definitely felt this way before. The way we see ourselves is not how other people see us. More importantly its not how God see's us. I hope some of these tips help you and feel encouraged. You are beautiful 💜 let me know if you have any questions for me anytime!
Hi Madi, I know a lot of people that shave there face and say that their makeup does go on better. I tried it a long time ago but for some reason it would make my whole face feel numb for a couple of days 🤷♀️ so that kind of made me worried but I havent heard of anyone else having that happen to them.
I'm not sure but I personally think subtle shimmers/subtle dewy/subtle glitter actually kinda camouflage the pits? I had good experience of the combination ------ 100 Percent Pure Luminous Primer, 100 Percent Pure 2nd Skin Foundation in shade 4 (older shade name: Peach Bisque), Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I have pitted scars and large pores as well and my skin is kinda combination type with slightly oilier at T-zone and slightly drier at cheeks and also slightly sensitive skin (I can't use those acne-prone formulation facial cleansers, they broke my face even worse! I always use facial cleansers for sensitive and dry skin and they actually kinda calm my skin plus I'm mild eczema prone person...) I tried the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear liquid foundation which is being highly raved and I believe it's semi-matte and I personally don't think it actually work on my skin. It actually acting opposite ----- I looked slightly chalky plus it accentuate my pores and pitted scars and my flip-flop dead skin... And the foundation oxidize on me quite a few shades into orangey head LOL
Hey! Being that you are eczema prone and sensitive for sure you should be using skin care care for sensitive skin. Those products targeted for acne are too harsh and drying for you. Skin prep is always going to be our best friend to ensure our foundation looks its best. Shimmers ecentuate any texture that that you may have. As far as the L'oreal foundation I have not tried it and it doesn't suprise me that it oxidized being a drugstore foundation. If a semi matte foundation looked flaky in your scar areas im always going to go back to skin prep and changing that up. You should try a gentle exfoliator in your prep as well. Best of luck to you! ❤
Hi, less is more when it comes to any type of texture. So if you want to wear less for summer, maybe a sheer foundation or sheer out your current foundation and set with a little bit of translucent or No Color powder. Is your scarring primarily on your cheeks? Do you still want bronzer or blush? If not, you can just conceal the areas that need it also and leave the areas that have the pitted scarring alone. Let men know where your scarring is and what you want your end result to be for summer makeup! Cream blush is great for a natural look in summer but could be difficult to achieve depending where your scars are. ❤
Where do you buy the colour pop no filter foundation? I'm having a hard time finding it, I have only seen it in a foundation stick Thank you for making this video, I have very similar scars as you do and I never see any women with skin like mine doing makeup videos and it's nice seeing someone I can relate too. I have been using dewy foundation thinking that it wouldn't sink into my scars but my makeup has been looking horrible so I'm going to try using matte instead now like you suggested. If I can't find the colour pop no filter is there any other foundations you like that you could suggest?
Hi Samantha! Tnank you im so glad I can help.I was just looking on ColorPop's website and I don't see it either. What is your skin type? I found that colorpop foundation to be a bit drying and I have combo skin. I use to love the Este Lauder double wear. If you could let me know if your are dry, Combo or oily I can better help with some suggestions ❤
@@chelseagiachello4367 your welcome ! I just noticed you replied to my comment , thank you for replying ! I have combination skin , it’s more oily in the summer and in the winter and colder months it’s more of a combination!
Hi Janell, it shouldnt bring them out more but what is your skin type? If you are dry it might be too matte and drying for your skin, depending on the formula you use. If you are oily or combo it will be fine 👍its more the shimmers and illuminators that make the acne scars more noticeable.
It is very dry. I am trying to switch to a natural formula lemongrass spa mineral foundation is what I am considering but I don't want to buy something that looks awful.
@@janelllucas686 I looked into the brand, it seems like a more natural version of the original bare minerals makeup that you would swirl first? I use to use that back in the day and I remember feeling a bit dry and didnt give me the coverage I wanted but maybe you can try it first or get a sample of a similar brand at Sephora? I also didnt skin prep correctly back then so that could have been the reason. Skin prep is so important.
Yeah, yeah... I do everything more or less the same way as in the video. The result? I look awesome in the morning when leaving my house but 1 hour later my makeup starts melting no matter what foundation/powder/primer or whatever product I had used. And when the makeup starts to melt, my pores and acne scars just stand out "beautifully". It looks horrible. Just horrible! And it seems like there is no way to solve this problem.
Hey Zuzana! Thanks for taking the time to comment. If its looking bad an hour later then the products you are using aren't working together. Its trial and error. What is your skin type? What skin care are you using? primer? foundation?? I know its frustrating, it took me a long time to figure out what works best for my particular skin. But as I try to make it a point in all my video to say is, you cant hide texture/acne scars, but you can make them look worse with certain techniques. Don't give up! Again I know how frustrating it is! Let me know what products you are using ❤
Hey! Thanks for taking the time to comment. If everyone says Stippling brush works for them is it possible you are using it incorrectly? What skin prep are you using and how are you using the brush? That makes a difference. There are so many factors as to why your pores look more "cakey" if it looks cakey you are definitely using too much product. I know its frustrating. Hope you find out what works best for you ❤

Hello... I have a question... I have acne scars in my face.... So when I use matte foundation my face looks cakey.... And when I use dewy foundation my scar's became more visible.... What can i do??? Can I use polyglutamic serum before using matte foundation?? Please can you reply?
Hey Shakila, what is your skin type and what skincare products are you currently using? I dont see anything wrong with using the polyglutamic serum, just make sure its fully absorbed before going in with your foundation. If your foundation is caking you may not be hydrating your skin enough beforehand or its too matte for your skin type. I would suggest doing a semi matte or even a natural skin finish foundation. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. I have a video coming out today about tips to avoid makeup seperating/caking ❤️
Hi Amrin, Im not sure if you are asking me if I used setting spray or if I recommend one. I did not use a setting spray in this video. I usually only use one for brides/special events when someone is wearing makeup all day and may be crying or for clients in humid climates. My top 3 are 1. Ben Nye Final seal 2. Blue Marbel Selr 3. Kryolan fixier spray

Hey! Thanks for the conment. Im glad your found something that is working for you! 😍
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback❤

Did he have deep pitted scars? Has he gotten rid of them with banish?
@@afroditisiani9955 more like semi-deep (def not shallow) boxcar scars. It faded 80% of his scars but not 100% complete. Def not that obvious anymore but when you look closely and use a magnifying glass, you'll see small scars
@@chelseagiachello4367 thank you so much! Looking forward to your videos 🤍
I too have acne scars and I wish there were just products for people with acne..I have the same problem with or without makeup I feel people are staring at me.
@@victoriaagius8389 yes there aren't many options for us 😪 I hope some more products will come out that will help!
@@chelseagiachello4367 yes, i hope cosmetics developer would feature more on the real skin who has pitted acne scars, pigmentation, textures and show REAL MODELS who have this condition. Then, prove that their product works. Let's see how their response would be !!!
THIS IS SO HELPFUL!! THANK YOU!!!
You're a saint for this!
Thanks for sharing this. It's always nice to know what product others are using.
That's awesome, my mom has acne scars and I am trying to help her and let her more confident about it! Thanks for the tips!

Wow.... the after is amazing!! 💪
You’re super pretty. Those eyebrows 🙌🏼
Thank you very much ❤️
Omg finally a video for someone who has the same scars.
Thank you for making this video. It looks amazing definitely going to try all these
Love your tips! Your channel is the only channel I've found that properly addresses this issue! Definitely gonna try them out. Just had a small question,
1. Was the concealer you applied on your face a shade or two lighter than your foundation, would it be the same shade we use to highlight the under eyes?
I would also appreciate it if you could add more product reviews if possible! Would love to hear your take on them
Thanks!
Hi, thank you so much! Yes the concealer I used is a little lighter than my foundation. And it is the same one I used for my highlight 👍 absolutely I will do some product reviews in the near future ❤
@@chelseagiachello4367 can't wait for them!!
Anyway, recommendations for skin prep and foundation AND finding the right color- holy moley- that is ALWAYS my biggest issue- to give you and idea of my color- the last foundation I wore was IT cosmetics full coverage foundation in LIGHT; I never used concealer (probably bc I didn’t understand how to use it), I’d use one pump and it was plenty, then I’d dust my face with their “air brush” powder I believe.
This is very informal... Thank you so much. 😊😊
Love it! Thank you!

How do you feel about shaving your face ? Would the foundation look better ? Thank you 🙏 🌻🌻
Hi Madi, I know a lot of people that shave there face and say that their makeup does go on better. I tried it a long time ago but for some reason it would make my whole face feel numb for a couple of days 🤷♀️ so that kind of made me worried but I havent heard of anyone else having that happen to them.
Hi, in your step 1, what’s the Bioderma produce? Toner or cleanser? Can you be specific?
Would love to know where to buy in Australia or online
What primer do you use
Where can I get a list of brushes and products you used in this video? You make me have hope!
Hi Stephanie! I listed the brushes in the description box, click on the drop down arrow and you will see it :)
Very nice technique, have you tried Ilmakiage foundation?
Thank you! No I haven't tried it yet! Been thinking about it though!
I always use facial cleansers for sensitive and dry skin and they actually kinda calm my skin plus I'm mild eczema prone person...)
I tried the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear liquid foundation which is being highly raved and I believe it's semi-matte and I personally don't think it actually work on my skin.
How long does your makeup stay even on the skin? My face looks terrible after a couple of hours of exposure to outdoor environment.
Any advice for summer make up for pitted acne scars? This is normally my routine in fall/winter, but it feels like too much come summer time!
Ty ❤️
Where do you buy the colour pop no filter foundation? I'm having a hard time finding it, I have only seen it in a foundation stick
Thank you for making this video, I have very similar scars as you do and I never see any women with skin like mine doing makeup videos and it's nice seeing someone I can relate too.
Is this transfer resistant?

Thanks!
Hey, I am wondering if a powder matt foundation would bring out the scars because it is not liquid. What are your thoughts?
You are so kind! Thank you❤ and God bless.
I wana see it in direct sunlight
Can you please list the products used before you put on makeup? Thank you so much!
Let me know what products you are using ❤
Everyone says use a stippling brush but it makes the scars and large pores look cakey af. Ahhh
