I had a 954. Still the best Blade. 154hp. No tc. No rider modes. No nonsense. Just perfection. One of the best looking sports bikes ever made too. Up there with the 916 for me. Mine was the superior white/blue.
Still got mine, bought it new 1993, red/white/blue, paid £7800, only has 23k on it , was great at Isle of Man back in the days , stage 1 dynojet, filter, micron end can( looks tatty now) got a new Beowulf end can in box to go on when needed , still have original end can also stainless headers , still got original down pipes , pin holed at collectors , but still reparable , complete bike starts/ runs/ works as it should , waiting for it going up in price and will probably sell on , but may regret that like I did selling my yam rd 250 air cooled and 2x 350 early lc’s , one in standard red/ white trim the other with black/red/ white speed bock paint and micron spanny’s on it , and a yam fz750
Getting my 94 back up after someone came into my lane took me and my friend on another bike out anyways it's really hard to find parts for this thing but still worth it
Lamb Chop Rides . Having new rear fitted next week so if you want to wait until that’s scrubbed in and then come and have a look before you decide if you want to ride it you’re more than welcome.

@@blipco5 no I collect bike's only Kawasaki's. My current bike ZX-14 turbocharged fully done, but I got the bug getting new one. Love 954 going wash this weekend first time it will see light since 2008. Will put in new fuel, battery fire it up,go down memory lane. If my memory serves me right I can even put 6 pack of beer under seat, lol. Cheers from Canada.
Just sold 1993 Blade after 25 years, miss it like hell, too old to give it justice best engine, handling, sound (GP stainless open race can & induction roar K&N filter) U R the the first to give it the best vid ever thank U.
Driving home through Matlock Bath in the early nineties a fireblade was parked up on the side of the road and I said to my girlfriend “one day I will have one of those.” Sure enough in 98 I bought the original 92 blade. Having only ridden a Kmx125 on the road it was a massive learning curve for me. I never fell off my blade but I did get a £400 fine and a three month ban for speeding. I sold it shortly afterwards. Good days. Great bike.
My favorite affordable modification to a freshly built, hot-rodded 1998 SuperHawk 996 (FireStorm) is the modification of one tooth down on the front sprocket and _three_ teeth up on the rear sprocket (44 teeth), with a teflon-coated light-weight Vortex aluminum rear sprocket kit. You can order the one tooth down (stainless), three teeth up (coated aluminum) kit from Vortex, with an OEM (530) chain profile. I'm not racing anyone, so I don't mind losing a little off of the top-end in order to gain the economy and the acceleration on the bottom-end. A nice mod.
Greetings from IOM. i rode my 98 blade last week and love how smooth it is, 6th gear down to 30mph no problem, then it will pull all way through to well over 100mph with no dips or glitches.Silky smooth and torquey.
I used to own the 1992 Balde called CBR900RRN with the original overhead camshaft !! The faster you go, the less pain on the wrists...lol !! The Tank is made to keep you on the bike when abruptly come down from speeds of 270 Km/h to 90 Km/h in a couple of meters.
sweet ride I picked up a 93 with 6636 miles on it. Cleaned the carbs, changed the fluids, new battery and she started right up....MY young Navy son loves it...
I really do love the old blades , when I was a lad my dad had the fox eye blade in yellow purple and black . Fantastic looking bike . I'm looking to invest in an old blade .
My 2002 954 was a fabulous all-round sport bike. Track days, commuting and even some road trips - it did it all. Now waiting for my LCR hoodie to arrive; the least I can do to support this channel.
My all time favorite bike. Picked up a brand new one in August '92, think it was £7250. Wanted the red, white and blue but none available so plumbed for black. Micron end can and dynojet kit later it pumped out 118 bhp. Loved the bike and wished I'd never p'exd it for Triumph Tiger 900
The 2003 pewter-and-black FireBlade CBR954RR, to date, is my personal favorite of all in-line four sport bikes. It is such an elegantly designed, comfortable motorcycle to ride, with a healthy performance edge, to boot. In 2004, I rode one briefly as a loaner from a mechanic, while my SuperHawk 996 (FireStorm) was being rebuilt and upgraded. After the 954RR, Honda altered the FireBlade to have a much more aggressive rider position. That does not work for me, since I experienced a serious back injury in 2004, and I must ride a motorcycle with a sport-touring (3/4) rider position. Whoever recommended that you ride the CBR954RR was not kidding: It is an excellent choice for those with a hankering for a stylish sport bike. I almost bought one instead of again tricking-out last year my 1998 SuperHawk (FireStorm). Both bikes rock!
I remember test riding one back in its day. Within minutes I had back ache & wrist ache but what a machine. After getting back from the test ride I said to the dealer if you put its engine in my then VFR 750 I'd buy one tomorrow. I am still waiting Honda.
Not sure how it took me a year to find this vid… such a sweet bike. I’ve had three, a 93, 94, and a 96. Commuted 124 miles round trip, 5 days of week. Only vehicle, and loved every mile. Great job takin her out and rippin around. Still has a distinct sound to me, but may just be my connection since it was my first three road bikes, lol. Well done sir, and thanks to your buddy for letting you take her out.
Bought mine new in ‘92, 3rd Honda after a 500 Interceptor and ‘87 600 Hurricane. Rode it across the USA and and back and then it was stolen mid oil change. I hope the thieves started it without checking. Replaced it with an identical bike a couple years later and I still have it. Rejetted with a full TBR, otherwise stock. I’ll keep it until my wrists give out.
Proud owner of a 1993 SC28 in the purple/orange livery. Got it now for about 17 years and it's going nowhere... Great video and greetings from the Netherlands.
This was a model that I saw in the flesh , my older brothers mate rode one and you could hear it from a mile away across town. The 916 was the pin up bike , but the sound & smell adds to the experience. 👍🏼
In 1993 I was 8 years old. I remember seeing these bikes in the shop when my dad took me with him. To me they looked like some beautiful machine from the future!
Love my old ‘99 Blade.. I have slowly restored it back to factory. Regardless of the other bikes I add to my collection, I’ll be keeping the Blade. Would love a 92/93 white/red/blue version...
My second bike was a CBR600 ('91 F-M) that had a twin headlight conversion so it looked like the 'blade. It was blade colours too - the black with red/purple paint. Was a great bike. Had it 2 years and sold it for more than I paid for it :) If you're doing a 'blade generation series then you could borrow the FireWeem if you like :) (2010 RR-A)
The First 900RR was the first bike I ever truly lusted over. Ever new model was my new favorite up until the 954RR which is what I ride today. They are all special imho
I had the Urban Tiger Fox-eye version - swapped to it from a VFR750 and couldn't believe the difference. I later switched to the first R1 which was better but not that much. Happy days.
Stunning bike, Even in 2020 the 93 blade is still an animal! The first blade I rode was the urban camo.. the first blade I owned was a 99 rrx with the 16” front wheel
A 954 'blade was one of my first experiences on the back of a fast bike as a younger chap, back of my Dad, up the bypass, lots and lots of fun, prior to that the fastest thing I'd experienced was an old GPZ900R, that was also a brilliant experience, I would love a '92 'blade now, in exactly the colours on the little picture you showed.
The first one I came up against was at snet in the 1300 production race,it was so new the guy had drilled his own holes in the rep fairing and ran it in in warm up lol,my FZR100RU could have it on the straight but the blade was way better on corner entry and got out quick, early 90s was a great era for club racing :)
The 94 urban tiger derestricted was the most awesome bike to ride ever. Always has n will b my favourite. Nothing could catch me n bak then I ad balls of steel....
That looks really sweet for a 30yr old bike. Sounds pretty nice when you open her up. Always heard good things about the 954, will look forward to that.
She looks amazing. Always love the rounded headlights more than the foxeye but either way cant complain about the Fireblade's. Seeing your review makes me think about selling my 97 RRV
@5:30am 1st Jan 2000 I rode one of these flat out along the A120 through Stansted airport, on my way to work there. As no aircraft were allowed to fly (due to the millenium bug) until mid day. I would like to claim this mileniums land speed record, for the first six hours.
Tadao Baba was a great enginer. Smoking, riding and crashing the bikes he desinged. I had 954rr (the last of his baybes) great road bike, weak point transmition. Good point comfortable riding postion for a sport bike, power enough for any mortal, solid brakes,...stearing damper a must have. Great video
@@user-jt6nw6wm5q It wouldnt stay in 3rd gear on heavy accelariton. 3rd gear cog was worn so i sold the bike. I would have to rebuild the gearbox in order to do that you have to take the whole engine out,....it had 50000km when the problem started. If you buy one look for one with low miles/km if possible and that the previus owner didnt ride it like an idot in my case that was me. If You have one be gentle with the gear changes it is not a racer. Let it warm up before you ride it and hope the previus owner took care of it. Over all for me great bike. Good luck 😁
Right on all fronts, gr8 vid. I've owned 3 Battleax s21's on mine. I like the carbs and the fueling, it sings at 10k thats where u ride it when u want to feel it as it's best.
back in 1995 my step dad had one of these in purple. im sure at 6 years old this got me into bikes shortly after i had a pw50. brilliant vid awesome how a bike brings back memories u gotta new subscriber
Bought a mint 954 back in 2013 with the idea of it being future classic. Unfortunately binned it on the way home 😳 Bought a 2nd gen RSV once my injuries and pride healed as the 1st gen I'd owned years before was a stonking bike. Now onto Tuono 1100
Maybe ur right the 929rr might be the least desired one.. HOWEVER! As an owner of one. You don’t see many on the road especially the Erion edition. So she turns all heads. Great video! Thanks.
The 16inch front wheel wasn’t due to weight necessarily chops however is an added bonus, it’s due to there turn In and ‘flick ability’ capability over a 17. But In return makes the front end twitchier and less precise, with modern tech on chassis and suspension it’s not required anymore, keeping a more stable 17 front end.
Loved waken up to this today chops had these back in the day 92,93,95,97, absolutely loved then always said it would be the only bike I would buy again an 92 took about 10 years to happen bought one on Tuesday there buzzing check out earl classics sold bikes still can’t believe it
They’re just so pure, and so involving to ride. No electronic nanny nonsense going on. Nothing to save you, but your own riding skill. There’s something to be said about that.
I'm not sure I could sell my RRV.. certainly more challenging to ride than a modern bike but infinitely more rewarding.. A set of Bridgstone S21s and you're winning
Enjoyed that Chopsie - I love an older bike me, having ridden a few in the past year (including our mate Lyndon's CBR900RR) I entirely concur with your observations - ignore all the electronic gubbins and bikes really haven't come that far in 30 years, if you get the basics right then a bike like this can be equally as enjoyable as a modern day sport-bike. If only I had more room in the garage!!! Right I'm off to peruse Autotrader.....
@@LambChopRides It sure is....so many options too 'Blade, SP1/SP2, R1, GSXR, etc etc all at highly doable prices - if I had the room I'd have one of each!
Have a 93 900rr 2007 1000rr, and a Kawasaki z750 which is a sewing machine compared to the other two, but the 900 is the one that really does it for me
Brings back memories, I was learning to drive when this came out and knew someone who owned one. I remember being blown away how nice it was. Good video - keep up the good work.
Prices have been on the up for a while now with some people really taking the mick. Had a purple and yellow one but now have a single sided Blade.....cracking, real world bikes.
Sone rubber bungs towards the rear of the tank, on both sides will ease vibrations, in addition to the two near the front. Place them between the frame and base of the tank. A bit of rubber goes a far way towards reducing the vibes. Proud owner of a 97/ 918cc fox eye model. and still going strong!
Loving what you’re doing with LCR 007. Something old, something new and a few blue words during the rebuild. I get tired of watching new bike reviews. Your mix is great entertainment and enlightenment for the average rider. Love it! 🤓🇦🇺🏍❤️
I have 2003 954 RR mint with 3800 kilometers with volocity stacks and full Akrapovic system and PC3, 142 rwhp. It's the best of the blade was know to be 600 on steroids. Only update to do was put forks from 2004 model radial calipers direct bolt on, dirt cheap eBay. She's stored well, one day it will be collector
Good review, love 'blades... the linear power comment was interesting though; my 893 used to take off like a bastard from around 8,000RPM! Maybe the gearing change masked it? My later RR-S engine (918cc?) was more linear and more powerful, but didn't feel anywhere near as exciting...
Probably the best motovlog out there. Really great to see you testing out older models. Cheers! I ride a Cbr600rr 2005. Its a Nice little lady that is not to much trouble to make scream :-) Cheers!
If I could have a second bike to ride now and again on the nice days and have a garage to keep it nice and dry, I'd definitely consider one. A mate of mine has a '93 GSXR (600 I think), still a nice bike too, but not quite as special as this, or as good condition lol.
Loved this vid Chops! So many memories of my old blades,, I had a 95, followed by and 98 and then a 02 loved them all especially the 02 wish I still had that one
Great video of a modern classic. Had a 929 blade which was good then got a 954 with full micron system and power commander set up on a dyno awesome bike, but it shook its head a lot even with a Ohlims steering damper fitted, dam good fun though. Nice to see the 360 still works and survived its off.
Hi John Sir spot on review, i got mine new in 1995 foxeye urban tiger, 25 years young, she still gives me a buzz, i have a johnson carbon fibre race can on the old girl & she sounds a peach ?? it's only covered 15,000 miles, cant see me parting with it any time soon, ATB Wayne.
Had a 2003 954rr. I wish I could go back in time and do it over again. I wouldn't have gotten rid of it. It was in great shape. This was probably around 2010ish.
I’m 22 6’1 210 and I just got my moms 1994 I wanna say it’s red, black and white? Would you recommend it be a good starter bike? Would love all opinions I’m just now starting and can’t wait! It’s in great condition all original parts beside the muffler
those "1000cc" old school superbikes are pretty capable, sure the top end is around the modern days supersport 600 but they are still more grunty. My 2005 636 which was milled down was a pure shoulder pulling machine, but it still had not the same umph as an old school srad 750 with the efi. Not even my d675 was as good as old srad750 even though it was a serious weapon for old school 1000cc 2cyl machines. I sure do love some old school inline 4 machines, there is little reason to get a new machines if you have an old one. Well that is if you are seriously talented and have no preservation instincts then an 200bhp missile would be something for you but even that kind of machine is wasted on most tracks in northern Europe(including UK). My first bike was an 1000cc but the older I get the smaller capacity bike I buy, 600cc class are spot on for me but the nc35 I had was pretty fast as well, if it had same pull as an 600 at least to say 150 I would be plenty happy.

Unfortunately binned it on the way home 😳
Bought a 2nd gen RSV once my injuries and pride healed as the 1st gen I'd owned years before was a stonking bike.
Now onto Tuono 1100
Maybe ur right the 929rr might be the least desired one.. HOWEVER! As an owner of one.
You don’t see many on the road especially the Erion edition. So she turns all heads. Great video! Thanks.
Ours is being fixed by me today and it’s been running fine since 94
The 16inch front wheel wasn’t due to weight necessarily chops however is an added bonus, it’s due to there turn In and ‘flick ability’ capability over a 17. But In return makes the front end twitchier and less precise, with modern tech on chassis and suspension it’s not required anymore, keeping a more stable 17 front end.
...and limits tyre choices!
TheMissendenFlyer you better not be lying...DO IT!!!!!😂
Really appealing isnt it getting something like this... wish I had more room!
How did i miss this Chops? My god, my brother had one, against my parents wishes of course.
Great to see a nice example really is a classic bike , pretty rare here in New Zealand
Loving what you’re doing with LCR 007. Something old, something new and a few blue words during the rebuild. I get tired of watching new bike reviews. Your mix is great entertainment and enlightenment for the average rider. Love it! 🤓🇦🇺🏍❤️
Thanks Bruce 👍👍
Had a 99RRX , best bike i ever had. Miss it so much😢. Great review👍
Gorgeous bike, Sounds amazing thats what i love about the old bikes, Thats why i love my 96 ZX7R
Great video and bike. Get on a RC30 Chops, would be good to see what you think, plus they are already a classic 👍
Choke, fuel tap, carbs (& carb icing, my GPZ900) sofa surfing here on a wave of nostalgia 😃
Good review, love 'blades... the linear power comment was interesting though; my 893 used to take off like a bastard from around 8,000RPM! Maybe the gearing change masked it? My later RR-S engine (918cc?) was more linear and more powerful, but didn't feel anywhere near as exciting...
I miss my 95 Urban Tiger Blade. Still one of the best paint schemes!
Got 2 954's myself...I really do love them! Only problem you'd have to come up to Lincolnshire to test it 😅 The last blade designed by Tadao Baba.
Thank you for letting me know who designed them. Wow. Never knew or thought of that till now. Thanks.
Ah nostalgia 😍😅. Thanks so much for this Chops! Enjoy all your content but would love to see more along this theme please 😃
Remember the Urban Tiger Blades back in the day, had only just passed my test & was out of reach. Classic 👍
Top ride/review
Great vid.. loved it.. you should do more old stuff reviews, R1s, Zx7rs and so on....
A very nice example of a classic. Well looked after, polished swing arm too? My ZX6R was 20 year old and I think had same negatives but loved it.
Probably the best motovlog out there. Really great to see you testing out older models. Cheers!
I ride a Cbr600rr 2005. Its a Nice little lady that is not to much trouble to make scream :-)
Cheers!
Incredible machine. Thanks for the great video.
Ahhh, so this is were the engine for my 919/Hornet comes from. That is a hell of a lineage.
I really loved my 919. I miss it. 🏁
The 954 what a machine got one stored away with 3800 kilometers 🇨🇦
I wish I hadn't sold mine,☹
Sounds better than anything I've heard recently, maybe apart from the v4r and the s1k
Great video of a modern classic. Had a 929 blade which was good then got a 954 with full micron system and power commander set up on a dyno awesome bike, but it shook its head a lot even with a Ohlims steering damper fitted, dam good fun though. Nice to see the 360 still works and survived its off.
Gsxr750 was the first race bike for the road. You should try a srad version to compare with the blade.
Great review, I really enjoyed that. Good work buddy 👍
Nice one Mr Chops. Could we have some more please? I’d let you ride my 92 ZZR11 but sadly non-runner for last 6 years! Work in (slow) progress ...
totally agree with you on the blade, i have a 95 urban tiger and it's going nowhere
Really enjoyed this LC 👌 this is a beautiful example of the CBR 900RR hopefully you’ll be doing more videos like this in the future 👍🏻
Another great video Chopsy! The 360 does not look too bad!
I had the CBR600 at the time (bought it in 1989) and lusted after one. Unfortunately, I had to curb my desire...
Chops putting in the work , what a beauty!👍
Absolutely stunning.
I preferred the foxeye version, but it's still a beauty 😎
those "1000cc" old school superbikes are pretty capable, sure the top end is around the modern days supersport 600 but they are still more grunty.
