Plot Twist it happens
Bigger plot twice fuigma (Shotos sister) ends up being a villain and she’s the secret UA traitor and she heals dabi any time he goes too far with his flames.....
Rei became so mad with the abuse, she hurt her own son and was hospitalized. Shouto rejected his fire quirk despite it debilitating him. Natsuo is still not willing to forgive his father for all the trauma. Fuyumi was forced to mature in place of the eldest sibling and parents and now puts her own feelings last. Touya obviously went off the far end, hell bent on the destruction and demise of his abuser.
I want Endeavour to change but he shouldn't be seen as sympathetic or admirable. The abuse he did, he did consciously for years at the expense of his wife and children. Despite their obvious misery, he was too focused on himself. He has to face the consequences of his actions, everything he did wrong doesn't just become water under the bridge.
I have a friend named Rei! He can summon demons!
Could we not excuse Rei please? She's a full grown adult. She could've left Endeavor and take the kids at any point but she, instead, assaulted her own child. It doesn't matter she was triggered or beaten by Endeavor, she's just as responsible for the kids abuse as he is and doesn't deserve sympathy.
@@NoirRaven I wasn't exactly excusing her, just saying her actions were a result of abuse. It's a reason, not a defense. Although, I disagree with the "why not just leave" argument that tend to be used against victims of abuse. Although abuse becomes more than just you when your own children are mixed in, it's more complicated than we can understand when we're not in those shoes.
To get a little personal, I had a grudge against my mom because I blamed her for putting me through the abuse of my step dad. Although I believe she struggled to understand my feelings, I also know there was more to it than that.
You want some popcorn? Because, as someone who knows a person who has been abused, I am watching karma FINALLY come Endeavor's way and I'm more than willing to share some of mine.

I know she was talking with her mother about leaving Endeavor when Shoto approached her and she grabbed the kettle but would Endeavor REALLY have allowed Rei to take the kids and leave, especially Shoto? I'm pretty sure divorce is frowned upon in Japan and I don't think she had a means of supporting herself anyway, let alone with three children to take care of. Basically society as a whole was against her so unless there is proof to the contrary I'm gonna say that she didn't have a choice but to endeavor... well, Endeavor until she finally broke under the pressure.
You shouldn't judge someone's actions unless you yourself are put into the compressor.
What hurts is that Shouto has been struggling for the entire story to be free of his father's shadow, stand on his own as a hero, and have a good relationship with his family. All of that goes down the drain after Dabi's broadcast. At best, people will pity him for being a victim and at worst, they'll worry he's going to turn out just like Endeavor or Dabi. Both of those viewpoints completely invalidate the efforts Shouto's made as an aspiring hero. And he also has to live with the fact that his long-lost brother has hated him virtually all his life and wants to kill him.
I agree, when i read this chapter I instantly thought that Shoto is one of the most affected- he clearly doesn't want to turn out like Touya or Endeavor. Nonetheless, as much as he despises his dad, he's so far the only one in action + ready to protect his dad, which proves to me and the audience that he's probably the best hero that there ever is [sorry deku]

Then he’s gonna try to kill shoto todoroki kill in a quick attempt, but endeavor is gonna pull a piccolo and sacrifice himself while dying to protect shoto. In that span of time he gonna finally act like a dad for once and apology to shoto , say tell your mom I’m sorry for everything, then pass away. Then shoto may have a rage burst and beat him or escape and get stronger next time in a time skip

A lot of people show sympathy to shoto, rei,and touya and forget about natsu and fuyumi who had to helplessly watch the people they love get hurt.

After Toya's death Both Endeavor and Rei were passing through mental breakdown.Which were the cause of actions of both Rei and Endeavor.Rei was Caring mother and it hurts more if someone you trust did something bizarre.

Fuyumi actually became a teacher to compensate for the fact that she couldn't protect her younger brother shoto. That's just sad... but also very sweet

*The Todoroki family story is pretty much essential to the story of MHA* - even though it is uncomfortable for many (since many people can easily project unto the situation), it's inclusion is part of what makes MHA, well MHA. lol We need to see the society of MHA for the good (heroes inspiring hope like All Might) and the bad (through Endeavor's family situation) as the characters search for what it means to be a hero and how the newer generation of heroes can surpass the mistakes of the older generation.
The todoroki family plotline is peak mha
Literally the best family drama of the entire cast. And it is all fueled by mystery. The blessing and the curse of it all. We want a loaf of bread, but Horikoshi gives us the crumbs. At least give us a slice of bread, sensei!
It's because it feels like real family drama (with a multitude of perspectives) so it can spark the most discussion whether good or bad. lol So glad Hori-sensei kept it up despite the back lash of Endeavor's character during in the Pro Hero Arc.
Idk abt y’all but it feels like an exact replica of the fire nation royal family in atla . We have shoto who of course resembles Zuko , with the whole burned eye thing , and having Daddy issues . We Touya/dabi who is represents azula who has blue fire and is antagonist that fight zuko (shoto) . Then we have ursa ( their mom ) who was also very close to zuko , but isn’t in the picture because she was banished which is something similar that happened to Rei . And then Ozai is the ruler of the fire nation , so he’s like a powerful person ( just like enji ) and he also somewhat abuse his kids . There’s no doubt in my mind that horikoshi was heavily inspired by them .
@@saint6304 I doubt it lol. Avatar was made in America & bnha was created in Japan as a Shonen lol. There are uncanny resemblances but unless Horikoshi was watching American children's cartoons as an adult it's unlikely lol.

Not really. Endeavour is a top notch villain himself. He fooled society into thinking he is a great hero, while abusing his whole family as a side job. His firstborn "got killed in a fire while training", his lastborn has a big scar on his face, which he got from his mother. And thus spends her days in hospital. And noone ever questioned the Todoroki household? And then they even made him #1 hero?? I don't approve of the league of villains actions, but they do have a point: the hero society is flawed.
If you're branded as a villain you're on your own. If you're are hero, you can do whatever the fuck you want, cause society only wants to see the good parts, but completely ignores the bad parts, simply because it's easier.
And the funniest part was the reaction of viewers after that episode with Endeavour & Hawks vs that Nomu. Many people suddenly loved Endeavour as a hero. And I was just like "Seriously? One nicely animated episode was all it took to erase all those years of family abuse?? Are they for real?"
For me Endeavour is still a villain. He just won a popularity vote. I can't see him as a hero just yet.
My Hero Academia is build on the idea, that everyone can be a hero, but that just means that everyone can be a villain too.

@@Katastrophina yeah dabi got jealous so he pushed himself so hard trying to copy endeavor's prominence burn even with endeavor trying to stop him from killing himself mentioning that he wished that touya would find joy in other aspects of life like friends
Still, he was the one who instilled in his son that if he couldn’t become a hero, his life was meaningless. Touya kept training and burning himself because he wanted so badly to make his father proud, so that his existence wasn’t meaningless and he was more than a failed try at the child Endeavor wanted. When Shouto came around, he basically abandoned Touya as a lost cause and focused on him instead, which eventually pushed him over the edge trying to get his dad to notice him.
Horikoshi made me care too much about the Todoroki family drama. I feel like their stories alone fill my feels meter and infatuate my catlike curiosity. I need to know more, dang it!
A hell of a lot better than the rest of the plots in the manga.
I can see why Dabi wants to take down the whole fake hero system. Because this is what one man's obsession's over that bullshit ranking did to his family. I personally think these "Number" rankings should be done away with in MHA, and only the authorities should have a ranking system for heroes for missions and stuff.

To be honest, when MHA came out, I wasn’t really interested until someone told me about the Todoroki family situation. I was drawn in by it because it showed the underside of the hero society; how someone so driven to be number one could bring others down with them.
My feelings on Endeavor are mixed, but I like what’s going on with his character development. He shouldn’t just easily be forgiven, but the fact that he’s trying to change is something that just fascinates me. We don’t really ever see an abusive parent trying to atone for their mistakes in media like this and it’s a tricky thing to navigate. On one hand, we want to hate him for what he did, and we have every right to because what he did was awful. On the other hand, we see that he’s genuinely trying to change and he even acknowledges that he doesn’t deserve forgiving. That’s why it’s such a compelling story. I really can’t wait to see how everything plays out with this family down the line.
Yeah, it's a great sub plot and glad the author continued with it very carefully despite the backlash he got during the pro hero arc from the western fans giving him threats about it. smh
@@raec5426 I think the author is handling it really well. He’s not forcing us to like Endeavor now; he’s just showing the road Endeavor is taking to try and atone for what he did. He’s not forcing his wife and kids to forgive him either and is letting them decide how to feel about Endeavor. It’s uncharted territory, if that makes sense, and it’s complicated, just like real life.

I actually like Endeavor and the whole Todoroki Household because of how good they were written and evaluated the whole BNHA Universe. I did hate him for what he did but I also liked him because of how his personality and basically all he does was made. It made me think- "Damn, all he did had led their whole universe to think "Where's the hope? Where are the true "Heroes"?" They were a big part for the View in their world's society. Much love for BNHA❤️🔥
A lot of MHA shows the influence and downfall of families here. In many ways, Himiko Toga is the inverse of Shoto Todoroki, where her family did its best to suppress her quirk. A mirror held up to show that extremes are negative no matter which one it is.

wasn't Rei Todoroki forced into marriage by her family who was paid of by Endeavour, and that is why she poured hot water on Shoto Toddoroki because she was disgusted by his fireside (I think only stayed in the family because she had children and did not want to leave them behind)
Yup she was forced to marry him but she is the one who suggested to enji to have many children as possible, so they can support one another

Well It is surprising that Endeavor did something like this to his own family but these things happen in Real Life Families too we're not just used to It.
It's why it's so relatable and why we are so invested in it.
As much as I dont like any villans, Dabi is an understandable character cause of his childhood. Like I really dont like him after he clearly expressed his desire to kill todoroki the "perfect" child. But then again, Todoroki, even though that wasnt his intention, stole what Dabi lost, his dad's approval, it isnt hard to imagine how much hate can build up being replaced like that
As fans know, Endeavor will never beat All Might because All Might was a true hero. "I'm afraid being famous isn't the same as being a true hero"
True, but remember that that isn't how it works in the Hero Society. The only way you can become a hero in this society is by being paid by the government to do it, otherwise you're just a vigilante.

I think when the place where endeavor trained dabi used an ice quirk, that he awakened, to survive. He had to hide it because it wouldve been too obvious.
I mean his hair turned white so his mothers genes would kick in.
I don't think, and hope, that Touya has an ice quirk. Also, why would he hide his ice quirk? Isn't that what Endeavor wanted, so why hide it? And even if he had an ice quirk, wouldn't he use it more often to counter the effects of his fire quirk?
The hair thing is just to explain the mess with Touyas hair.
@@ourlordtachanka My theory is that he doesn't know that he has an ice quirk. He might've used it unconsciously to save himself from the fire. Like how could you escape from burning in a raging fire with a temperature of 2000°C alive. And the hair is kind of an indicator of the todorokis quirks. It'll be more heartbreaking for Endeavor if that happens because the perfect child was there all along...
@@randomperson3119 I don't know, I personally think that giving him another quirk is very cheap and boring. And again, even if he wasn't aware of said ice quirk when he was younger, wouldn't he use it to counter the burning of his skin?
I guess he could've hidden it to keep his identity secret or something like that, but still there were times where he would've used it to (LITERALLY) save his skin

Nice parallelism but it falls apart when you realize Horikoshi actually wasn’t aware of Avatar’s existence when he conceptualized Shoto and his family.

we should call this week the todoroweek.
My understanding of it is endeavor was for the most part stable until shoto got his quirk.
Realizing he finally got what he wanted he began to neglect all the other kids which affected touya the most as he used to be the vocal point of his fathers attention.
Shoto and rei were also physically abused which combined with psychological abuse pushed rei off the edge and the boiling water incident happened causing her to be put into a hospital.
Having no restrictions endeavor only got worse and began psychologically abusing and neglecting fuyumi, natsuo, and most of all touya.
In either an effort to prove himself or just in a training accident touya died doing prominence burn which stripped endeavor of his backup plan if shoto failed.
So endeavor put all his cards on shoto and just neglected fuyumi and natsuo not paying them any attention.
I also think touyas death made endeavors abuse crack a bit because he built a shrine in touyas room showing he did at least care about him.
I think this stayed the same with shoto being physically and psychologically abused and fuyumi and natsuo being neglected until endeavor became number 1

Actually, the damage was done when she tried to cool his face with her ice. You don't do that with a burn, it damages the tissue further and leaves lasting effects.
In her panic, she was the one that left his face damaged.

It's crazy how shoto is the youngest and he is the biggest victim of endeavor abuse, by what natsu said he even restricted him to eat some food, I feel the pain soo much because my dad is the same
You really gotta respect shoto after all this. Despite never doing anything wrong to his older brother and is abused and isolated from the rest of his siblings for his entire life he never broke down and took the first step to see his mother and brought the family back together. Deku saving him definitely played a part in all this but in the end it was shoto who decided to talk to his mom and wants to save his brother Touya too even though he wants to kill him out of spite.

I think that Endeavor actually loved his family, even if the purpose of his marriage was Shoto, and Touya was his shining star. As life continued, he was just feeling like more and more of a failure, causing him to become enraged and abusive. Not justifying his actions, just saying that he does care, but his obsession overrode that in his lust to surpass All Might's power.
Would it be cool if dabis fire was actually cold fire and the burns are caused by frost bite. That would be so cool
Okay but this family wouldnt be like this if Endeavor wasnt abusive and Touya would probably be a hero, Rei wouldnt have scarred Todoroki, Fuyumi wouldnt have to put her feelimgs last, *over all they would be powerful and happy as a family*
Yeah, I honestly don't see myself looking at Endeavor any differently than I do now. Like, he had so many years to get his act together and it all just feels too little too late. It'll probably take a lifetime's worth of atonement, which on account of his actions during the villain hunt, I don't know if he's completely willing to do that. I guess only time will tell.

Later in the story, Shigaraki will give Dabi a new ice quirk (maybe his mother's, Geten's, or from another person). He won't have the risk of being "nomufied" because his body is made to have an ice quirk, so he will adapt to it very quick.
(Or he and Geten will just become closer and team up against Shoto).
I mean, if Dabi will be Shoto's "final boss" it makes sense, because in the future Dabi will be weaker than he is now and will use his quirk for less time, so he *needs* an ice quirk if he's going to be Shoto's main villain (basically I believe he needs an ice quirk because he will only get weaker in time unlike Shoto).

gotta say, i understand the idea that enji should marry someone with an ice quirk so that they could regulate their temperature, but wouldn't the logical thinking be that the kid would be at a disadvantage? Like how Touya can't stand hot temperatures even though he can use very hot flames. I feel like that possibility would be your inital thought and then enji would be like ''oh ok i shouldn't marry someone with an ice quirk"
i just feel like that slim possibility of being able to regulate their temperature is just seems very impractical
Todoroki has some striking similarities to zuko lol. They both have a scar which their father gave them (todoroki more indirectly). Both had a mother who suffered through mental illness. Both despise their father (for obvious reasons). Both of their mothers left during their childhood. And lastly both have an evil sibling with blue flames.

A repetitive cycle, perpetual and everlasting. The parent being disappointed with their children for not being what they want, the children vowing to never be like their parents, the children becoming parents who are disappointed in their children for not being what they want, ect, ect.
There was only one real way for Touya to save his soul... he should've walked away from all of it, just washed his hands of his father, mother, and his siblings. But I guess his heart was just to soft and kind to do something so cruel.

Dabi is pretty interesting as a villain but the fact that he wanted to kill Shoto, who literally went through abuse like he did and possibly had it worse, made me just hate him as a older sibling.
I get that he wanted to cripple Endeavor but wanting to go so far as to kill the one person who took the blunt of the abuse once Touya disappeared and was even injured by his own mother? The woman who snapped cause of her husband's abuse and attacked the youngest child?
Seriously, out of everyone, I was assuming that he only wanted to harm his abusive father but Dabi crossed a line for me when he revealed that he was going to kill his baby brother once Shouto became the #1 hero.
Like, this dude saw that Shouto was forced to be seperated from the rest of the family. He had to have saw or at least heard Shouto's cries of pain whenever Endeavor punished him or when his mother was comforting him?
As a older sibling, how could he ignore all of that and had it set in his mind that killing the one person who could relate with him the most, would be the best option?
In this coming battle, if he seriously tries/manages to kill his own brother, I hope his mother and siblings all express their sadness or hate towards him for doing so. Cause I know that as a kid who literally was abused and saw my own siblings get harmed as well, I would never even think of doing something like that.
I guess in his mind Shoto had buckled under the pressure of Endeavor and taken up their father's mantle, especially after watching Shoto start using his fire. Maybe Dabi felt that Shoto betrayed their mother's suffering and become the thing that he had sworn never to be and now feels justified in killing him. I don't know, you can never predict the minds of the broken and crazed.
@@white0thunderwhite0thunder71 He sees Shoto as a nuisance because due to him being born the "Perfect" ideal Endeavor child his father completely discarded him. His whole reason for being born and life purpose stripped away and given to a "better option." Also if you reread the last chapter you see him and his father had a relatively good relationship and he genuinely enjoyed training with his father and wanted to become a Hero. After Shoto's quirk manifested and he was effectively tossed aside, he went into a deep depression (which is why he went to Natsu everyday in tears lamenting why he even existed). Who knows how he died, many theorize he may have been trying harder to get his father's attention, but I think it may have been attempted suicide. Which ever the case he blames Shoto for the reason their lives turned upside down and he went insane (understandably so). I still believe and want him to be redeemed though, but we will see.
@@s.boundless3163 I think his rage over being replaced LITERALLY erupted and the flames that burned down the place where they thought he died came from him. And in this blazing inferno of hate and anger he was pushed beyond his limits and he manifested his ice powers surviving his "temper tantrum" and vowed vengeance against the father who discarded him and the brother who replaced him. At least that's what I think happened.
@@white0thunderwhite0thunder71 The way I see it Toya is jealous of Shoto. From the latest chapter it appears that Endeavor at one point at least was actually a decent dad. Toya had all his attention and his love until Shoto came along and made Toya's self-desctructive quirk inferior. It's even possible that Endeavor stoppped training Toya BECAUSE his quirk was hurting him... Whether events are recounted by Toya or Endeavor, certainly paints what was going on in different lights. In any case, I think that Toya went to that hill to prove himself to his father, but ended up burning himself to a crisp instead and either out of shame, or thanks to the involvement of a third party, Toya disappeared. He was then free to watch his 'perfect' little brother from afar, nurturing his jealousy towards his brother and his hatred for his father.
Moreover, Toya does not seem to hold much consideration for his mother. After all he is broadcasting that lovely little tale of his to her as well, giving zero fucks that it might very well make her relapse.
My take from what we have seen in recent chapter is that the only thing that matters to Toya is Endeavor. Specifically Endeavor's complete and utter destruction as a person/heroic figure and also his undivided attention. To me: "Come dance with your son in hell," sounds a lot like he wants to burn himself to death alongside his father.

the change in youyas hair might be a clue to whats to come tbh, my theory would be that he can change his hair to white or red and he'd be capable of changing his quirk type. red for fire white for ice.

I can't wait to see Shouto vs Dabi in the battlefield now. I can imagine Shouto trying to win his brother over- he wants a stable family and I imagine wants his brother to be a part of it.
Obviously Dabi wants to kill Shouto, but it doesn't change the fact that Shouto has now learnt his dead brother is actually still alive. It would make sense he would want to reach out. His own mother is mentally unstable and he has forgiven her so I imagine he can do the same for his brother.
I think I speak for everyone when I say I want redemption for Touya and a chance for him to get help

endeavor is like an inverted iroh where iroh was a kind family man but was also a key general in the firenations imperialistic war to take over the world but endeavor was a hero who was #1 in terms of crime fighitng stats buta an awful father.
