- LeLe began her first day on the job as a BOLT taxi driver in Pattaya - Thailand yesterday!
She was anxious about going alone and asked if I would come along for the day while she got used to the Bolt App, the customers and the high paced street navigation around Jomtien Beach, Pattaya Beach, Soi Buakhao and Beach Rd. She did really well and we even made friends with a customer and she and Lele went out for a drink afterwards!

Install a 3 lense dash cam. Front rear and inside cabin . With wifi feature too and constantly upload to cloud so that in the event if something happens and the SD card gets taken away there's cloud as backup. Put notices in the car that the ride is being recorded so passengers can avoid kissing each other inside the vehicle too. Standby emergency eye spray or whatever they call it and maybe get an unwanted golf stick 😁
Hi Sam, Get her cameras for inside recording and also outside. Makes allot of difference to how ppl behave in the car. Also good to have if something happens on the road. Also make sure she sign in as lady driver. ( better pay) / Bob

I calculated that in the 19 months I have been here(Pattaya) I have used Bolt at least 700 times. Not kidding. They are great and I have no need to rent a motor scooter. Too dangerous anyway.

Great LeLe has her own little business. But also don't forget to factor in rego, car wear and tear, fuel, insurance, etc. She needs to get airport trips. That's where the money is.

If I am at Central Festival, I'll get on the Bolt App and before I get up the escalator and out the door, a driver will already have arrived and be waiting for me. One must have hawk eyes to catch the license plate number and make of car. High season, a little longer but now it isn't too busy.
Mate get her to install a camera on the inside of the car, the amount of taxi drivers I've seen being assaulted by foreigners this year is becoming a joke

Hi Sam & Lele, I wish to wish LeLe all the best with her new job stick at it any new job always difficult the first time around she get the hang of it soon enough. You should use your contacts in the bars to get some Farang customer pick up & drop of airport / day trips etc you could get regular customer.
If your interested I have job for pick Soi Buckhao Monday June 3rd from my hotel to drop me off in Bang Saray to pick up my motor bike which is in my friends home sometime in the afternoon cash paying job let’s know if available I should have more driving jobs coming up only to glad to help out.

Start printing name cards and give out to customers who may need direct transport to airport in BKK. And also farang retirees who don't drive will need a regular transporter. Groceries etc or after drinks pick up to home etc. I would suggest to avoid those night jobs except airport transfer 😁

Hi guys I meant to tell you my friend in Australia Brisbane drive for Uber absolutely loves it majorly of customer very good, your always going to get some shit ones. Just looking at you in the car if I was you I get her to put a hard plastic screen behind the front seats with a small gap to put cash or tip through. You see them here in taxi all the time since COVID now they just leave them up for security also you can get camera which are 3 way recording like for accidents record front & rear and inside the car all at the same time. Very good if you have accident not your fault you can should Insurance who’s at fault also people tend to behave better when the know there been filmed put sign up in the car for security reasons. I try not to use Bolt and prefer grab - but maybe she paid the cash price rather than by the phone app like prompt pay which gives a discount?

I hadn't even heard of Bolt. Use Grab, it's reasonable......232 baht from Central Airport Plaza to my joint 16.5 km's away.......but from some of your comments it seems Bolt is even cheaper.....might save two sips of beer (happy hour) or one sip of beer (after happy hour).

Interesting, what’s the Tax rate back in Thailand ? Being bolt it’s all legit so tax would be part of it right ? Which brings me to a second question if she has a crash and a passenger is injured does the 3 party insurance cover that passenger ?

Yeah it’s a great idea. We’ve actually done a handful of them, mainly for subscribers but after diesel and tolls etc it’s not greatly worth it. Special occasions now

My buddy, back in Vancouver, who is well off and has a well paying career in the Fire Department at a busy Fire Station and is a very respectful man for some reason decided to do UBER on his days off with the idea of meeting some girls and making a little cash. After multiple drunken vomit episodes and arguments over paying along with cleaning up his Grand Cherokee the next day he pulled the chute on it and bailed. Not worth it.

I am a BOLT user when ever i am in Pattaya and use it every day for all, i not wanna rent a car or Motor bike i not like that Dangerous driving there and too much going on, better Bolt then ........

The passenger gave you less. You are supposed to take the full fare. There's a prepaid feature in the app where Lily needs to top up and bolt will deduct their share from there for cash customer. If there's no balance then jobs will stop coming in. I drive grab in Malaysia. It's the same. If online or cards payment then bolt will deduct their share and transfer the daily earnings amount to Lily's bank account. Kindly take note of your vehicle gas consumption per litre then you can plan your earnings. Thb500 don't think enough to cover cost of gas, time and vehicle wear and tear, brakes, tyres etc
Don't go rounding and burn gas. I use the word gas cos your vehicle might be diesel or petrol. You could park in a hot area and wait for jobs in that surrounding area to come in. Turn off air con when parked. Bcos your main cost is gas. And air con burn gas too. Good luck .
