I’m a recent victim of domestic violence. My brother passed away last year. The first time I heard this song, it was shortly after the first time my ex attacked me. I truly believe this song was a sign from my brother. He was a musician so it makes sense he would try to reach out through music. I absolutely love this song.
Probably my all time favorite song ever...been listening to this for years non stop and still fresh.

I am recently out of a DV relationship that I thought I did a decent job of hiding how bad it was. But then my brother sent me this song and it hit hard. It was the first time I was really able to understand what it feels like to watch a loved one go through DV. I feel selfish for staying for as long as I did. I honestly thought this man would leave me unalive one day but at the same time it felt safer to stay with him. I listen to this song a lot now and I can say for sure that I will never go back nor will I ever again tolerate that behavior, not only for my sake but for my friends and family as well. I didn't realize what I was putting them through.

@@leonardobraynen1524 What i think of the meaning is this: He sings about a "sister" (could be a friend too, why not?), and this sister is getting closer to a dangerous relationship, a dangerous path (because of her friends or her boyfriend). She was unpredictable and has now ended up in a place that was completely unprecedented. So he's like "So, tell me what happens
when the waves break and you’re surrounded. He tries to kill you and you allow it" It seems like she is out of control in an abusive or dangerous relationship. She
got into a bad relationship and now it shows its consequences. At the end Andrew sings "
Over and over he says. I surround you. I never leave my beloved. I’ve found you" could be in a religion interpretarion that God found her and protected her or that the person who tried to kill her found her and don´t leave her alone.

guys I'm not an English native speaker but my English is very good. I tried to understand the lyrics but couldn't understand the message behind it. Is it about a love story? Or about a sister that tries to protect her sister?! I'm confused ...
It's about how we deal with loss, and the strength of unconditional love. Specifically, how the younger girl turned to the dark side to cope, but eventually found that it was killing her as she became one of them.

Alex Hont Are you familiar with the biblical story The Prodigal Son? In it, a son asks for his inheritance from his father. He used his new found money to travel to a distant country and live wildly. Soon after, there was a famine in that country, and the son had spent all his wealth. Now poor, hungry, and ashamed that he has wasted all of his father's money, he recognizes his foolishness and decides to return to his father to ask for forgiveness and mercy. While on the way, he meets his father, who happily embraces him and welcomes him back. They then proceed to have a grand feast to welcome back their lost son, who is in shock that his father would forgive him so readily after what he has done.
This music video is a parody of this story. The young girl, having lost both her parents, is going through much emotional stress, and is looking for something to make the pain stop. She turns to what seems to be an innocent group of people who try to make her happy, but in the end, they are not what they seem, and she becomes one of them. The line, "He tries to kill you / And you allow it." references this: The werewolf people were killing who she really was on the inside, and she was fine with that. Eventually, she realized that these people did not have the best intentions, as shown in the scene where they kill a man on the street, and she runs off to her older sister. Much like in The Prodigal Son, her older sister embraces her, and welcomes her back.
Hope this helps in figuring out the meaning of this song! Truly, it is an amazing piece of music, and Andrew Belle is very talented.
