Pearl Jam, more importantly, Eddie Vedder, saved my life as a teen in the early 90's. 13 shows, 4 different countries, 5 different states. YES! They are that GOOD! Known as the best act to ever perform Pink Pop, and 200k Europeans knew the English lyrics just as well as I did. It was the most massive display or Rock God Stardom to ever exist!
Pearl Jam is a fantastic band that gets a bad wrap from a lot of people. I've heard lots of supposed rock fans say that pearl jam suck, but really they just don't understand it. I think they also just got annoyed by a couple songs that were really big on the radio, and never heard much of their other stuff that was good. I really like pearl jam, and I think eddie vedder is a great talent. He just packs so much emotion into his lyrics and voice.
Pearl Jam/ Eddie Vedder = the last band & lead singer standing from one of the GREATEST (and shortest lived) sub-genres to ever be.... If anyone was "annoyed" by a few of their early, big hits it is probably just because it was about the "grungy", dirty, messy, stuff that people didn't want to look at and would just "sweep under the rug". Some people were stuck in the media fueled superficial hype from the 80's "Hairband/Glam rock" Era. Which glorified the importance of looks, sex etc., and perpetuated a sort of "Fake it to Make it" mentality. Grunge was a MUCH NEEDED breath of fresh air... IMO..... RIP to all the lost souls of Grunge and Long Live Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder! Thanks for the reaction Blokes....

Been a Pearl Jam fan since the day they hit the scene, and have enjoyed all their music over the years. But those early years they were incredible live. The intensity and energy of their performances was off the charts.
Lived in Seattle in 1980s and 90s during the big music scene. Got to see all the bands for cheap and Seattle was such a great place where you could see band members walking down the streets. Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains were my favorite bands. Pearl Jam concerts are over 3 hour long and they give their all! Still together since 1990!

I remember when they came to Chicago for the first time in November 1991. I got tickets to see Red Hot Chili Peppers with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam. I fell in love with their music right then and there. It's been 30 years and I still love their music.
Was psyched to see this pop up on my feed. This is my favorite band and we used to watch this exact concert a a friends house and go crazy. Eddie is a big Who fan. If you guys like The Who the watch Eddie sing with them at Royal Albert Hall sing I’m One from Quadrophenia. It’s class.
Pinkpop is a Festival in Netherlands, right at the german border near Aachen. Living on the German side it was pretty common to go to Rock am Ring on Friday Saturday and Sunday of the Pentecost weekend and on Monday visit Pinkpop, because that was their main day of the festival. Oh glorious times
At the end of the song, Eddie is swinging the mike, and it hits the bass player in the head. You can see him start to swing it before they cut to the crowd, and then you hear it. Then when it cuts back to the band, you see the bass player holding his head.
The jump photo from your thumbnail/title card is actually not the Pinkpop jump. Although his pose in the air is very similar, and is often confused for the Pinkpop jump, he is wearing different clothes than in the Pinkpop footage. Eddie has many epic jumps in his career and there are great photos and video footage of quite a lot of them. Their live bootleg shows are a good youtube rabbit hole to fall into. There are a few inaccuracies or assumptions in your vid (like what Pearl Jam's name means) but overall fun video. So good that people are rediscovering this stuff. Pearl Jam's live performances are legendary and still full of energy and emotion to this day.

I wouldn’t even have bothered to correct you, but I don’t think Mookie, being a little point guard, ever even dunked in an NBA game.

Acoustic, live in a studio with only two chanels: one for the guitar and another for his voice.. Side by side with all along the watchtower, from Hendrix, it is the best cover that has ever been. For 15 years Eddie Vedder said the band was named after his grandmother Pearl and that she made a jam laced with Peyote but recently admitted that was crap. They named the band Pearl after his grandmother and jam for musical "jamming" at a club they went to.
The name doesn't mean anything. Eddie used to tell a story that he had a Grandma Pearl that made a very good peyote jam. He later said that story was bullshit. The real story was they liked Pearl and decided on Pearl Jam, after attending a Neil Young show where he jammed on Rockin in the Free World for like 20 mins or something.
