Hi Robert, always great to see a new video. I think you mentioned before that the TH-cam algorithm prefers these shorter edits but would you consider doing longer versions for your patrons? I really enjoy watching your process and hearing your thoughts as you problem solve rather than just getting the highlights with a voiceover.
This video should be called the Creators Bible in under 5 mins!! Excellent lesson today Mr. Tolone! Now kids, go out there and just apply what you learned here...to life.
Robert, another cool show. Getting to watch one of your videos is my fave part of the day! I'm an artist, too, but you're always up to stuff I never do. I love seeing your process. Thanks for being you. hUgz from Ohio, Lee
Great video Robert! I started out using microballoons and polyester resin before getting into the more user-friendly urethanes. I still use microballoons on rare occasion, and it's definitely critical to wear a proper respirator when working with it. You definitely don't want to get that stuff in your lungs!
Microballoons are expensive in TR. I am using strofoam spheres in my resin casts to make floating fishing lures. I determine the additional weight and center of mass to hold it at the desired position for the swimming action. I drill a hole and insert the weight and seal with resin. There is such an application in my profile. ☺️
Another great vid. This is my realm making lures. You can have the mold hold all your parts if you get creative. The buoyancy can change on you so u have to do tests every time. You did really good for only a few trys 💪 I guess that's what years of experience does lol.
Yes, and one of these days I will do a foam molding video. But that is very different than the kind of resin, casting that I normally do and requires different procedures.
very good of you to mention a respirator - but youre actually not using a particle filter! The cloth piece that goes ontop only filters particles, the charcoal filter that youre wearing only filters fumes.
Hi Robert! Awesome video. Quick question, could the piece be done with your rocking cradle to make it hollow so it floats without the fillers? Thank you. Greetings from Mexico.
Yes, you could rotomold the body hollow, but it is very difficult to control the consistency of the inner walls. So getting the balance right would be difficult. Each casting would be slightly different.
Hi love this video and I'm a new subscriber to your channel. I wanted to ask if the same can be done with both non toxic resin and the plastic micro? As I want to make objects floating in water while people are swimming through pool and swimming underwater. ❤
This video was already worth it just for the safety aspects alone. I luved how you just wore the mask as a special bonus measure, just in case you horribly screw up the adding of the floaty stuff. Idiots actually film themselves and put videos up how they screw up the atmosphere for the rest of the day, but oh the machine is not going anymore, or the container is closed or whatever the source of the mess was, DONE, off with the mask, off with the gloves woo-hoo, why not!
Hey Robert, wondering have you ever cast using jesmonite? Especially detailed castings? I'd love to see some of that. I've seen TH-cam videos of larger castings with no details but not of anything complex or intricate. If it's even possible. ?
if you 3d print the core from plastic (or normal casting) then coat with metal, you can remove the core plastic, leaving only the outside metal shell, that floats, like a boat
Great work as always! In your video a bit after this one, you did a two-part pour for the little narwhal... Question: could you not have done the same here with the first pour being only resin and use the pressure pot and the second using the microspheres sans pressure? It SEEMS you would eliminate the added shot and have a denser area to affix the hook, etc. Am I missing something that makes this a bad idea? I ask because this, making lures, is something I intend to attempt now my chess pieces are coming out acceptable (ALL thanks to watching your videos.) Warmest regards.
I’m not sure what the filler is in featherlite, and I’ve never used it. But if it is some kind of microsphere , then no, a pressure pot will crush them.
I have been playing around with adobe podcast. It does an amazing job of improving the audio quality when I record sound through the camera but you can hear it’s not natural sound.
Hey Robert I've been watching your channel on and off for a year since your DIY lego bricks video, I'm a lego collector / custom figurine maker and wanted to replicate some vintage parts for a birthday gift I'm preparing for him and you're probably the only person that can help me replicate it, do you have a email or form of contact I could reach you from?
Just like Mr.Wizard!!!

Whats the best way to cast a small 1/12 scale Action Figure hat?

Best channel on all of youtube
Very nice video, Robert! A lot of fun in these quick experiments!

Bob, make a few more and let’s going fishing! Best regards, Richard
I fished a lot as a kid, made lures and even tied flies (badly). But I haven’t wet a line since college.
I Really liked this video, that was really kool 👍
Great video.
I just started playing around with brass powder in my castings. Luckily I got the brass super cheap, because I've made Every mistake so far.
Are we doing actual fishing lures next?
No, I’ll leave that to guys like Nate Marling!
Cant be just used foaming poliuretane to cast these light stuff?
Yes, and one of these days I will do a foam molding video. But that is very different than the kind of resin, casting that I normally do and requires different procedures.

Any link to purchase the microspheres? Please :) Also curious if you know if this stuff works with Smooth Cast 65D

I’ve never used it. Should give it a try.
how about casting a metal shell only, try the conductive paint electro plating metal surface, the inside can be puffed out after, rotocast to the mold

yes, in theory, you could do it that way. Just a matter of experimenting to get the ratio right so that the flotation works.
I use Featherlite urethane resin can I pressure pot it or should I vacuum it? Thanks

Experimenting with things takes a lot of patience. I would annoyed having to use up so many of my materials.
In the long run testing will save you money.
“Self Portrait” 😂😂😂
It looks like how I feel.
Did you dub the intro? The voice is very crisp.

good video, very informative, but the audio is very weird. Is it ADR? Is it AI? Why does it sound so weird?
Because I’m experimenting with Adobe Podcast. But you can certainly hear the difference between Ai enhanced audio and audio recorded through a mic.
Iteration ftw
