It's simple, simple high quality ingredients, simple cooking methods, not a huge amount of convoluted ingredients, really he brings out the flavour in the food itself
This video has such a comforting quality to it. I know Wolfgang is an entire person people have whole opinions about, but I know him just from this video, and to me in this video he sounds like an uncle telling exaggerated stories while showing you how to cook.
Imagine spending just a few hours with him and hearing all of these amazing stories and knowing that there are so many many more but you didn’t have enough time 😭

That Chicken pot pie :O I'm from New Zealand so i'm used to seeing many similar pies in our bakeries (It's the standard working class lunch. We don't make them with pastry (like European bakeries), but with a more traditional dough and the texture inside a "Chicken-vegie pie" is just like That Chicken pot from Wolfgang. Now i love the chicken vege pie, so you can imagine how my eyes lit up when i saw Wolfgang making a similar one. This guy is so wholesome. He made 5000 chocolate Oscars so even if you don't win one you can still get a nice chocolate Oscar to take home and eat. Plus you can get more than one because The Dolby Theatre (where they host the Oscars now) can only seat a maximum of 3,400 people, and even then it's highly unlikely that every seat is going to be filled.
I made the Red Wine Braised Short Ribs he made there in the video a few months ago just winging it based on what i saw after I had seen this video and it was so damn good. I'm watching this again for nostalgia like so many great dishes he cooked in that video in a short period of time. A lot of people just watch these videos and never make an effort to just try the dishes. You might surprise your self in how it turns out and learn to make something that's a hit and look great in front of your friends.
