  • the engine auto shutoff was driving me crazy so luckily there is a solution for it thanks to a simple plug and play module.
    maybe it's beneficial for gas mileage but I feel it puts more stress on the battery and starter. not to mention drove me crazy during a quick stop.
    works great so far on the Stelvio. Should be the same for the Giulia.

    This feature has not worked a single time in my car for the last 6+ months until last night. I was surprised and told my friend who was with me about how annoying it is. Today I get this video in my recommendations. This makes it hard to believe my phone isn't listening to me.

    I’ve been looking into the Stelvio but I’ve heard a lot of negative comments on Alfa as a brand. Have you had any major issues with the car?

    • @alphaautoadventures
      @alphaautoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for watching. My Stelvio Quadrifoglio just hit 40k miles. The car had some recalls that were addressed, battery issues (replaced). Other than that it has been okay. The 2.0 and 2.9 engines are very different and have different issues that have come up I believe. We have a 2.0 in the family that also had a battery issue. I know brand has flakey history but improving each year I believe.
      Also, maintenance is super expensive if you go to the dealer.

      Don't buy a 2018, or 2019. 2020 has improved radio system. Mine is only at 7k miles, no issues yet. I have purchased one of these from Aliexpress, and that one works great as well. Now I have to install the Madness Sport Plus springs and the paddle shifters.

      Yes, it is quality bicycle tire tool. We tried number of plastic tools before we releasrd the product, and all car dedicated which would be low price were worth nothing, in oppose these bicycle levers we found perfect for the job and still not expensive. Actually I love the lever for any jobs in the car - I use it say >50% of jobs I do in my own Giulia no matter I have 2 sets of quality car levers - especially for levering out steering wheel panel (retrofit of ACP buttons or red start button) - its strong and gentle edges - love it.

    • @beaub650
      @beaub650 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been told by my local dealership, upgrades don’t void the warranty but it your upgrade caused an issue, it won’t be covered. So if you stared having electrical issues and they found this was added, they might tell you it won’t be covered. I was also told…their mechanics won’t really know your upgrades unless they can cosmetically see the diff.
      That’s one dealership though

    …2020 Giulia Veloce, 20t miles, no issues, except that it made me an Alfa addict. Nice video and interesting to see what the aftersales market can do, but honestly… the start/stop is a feature you WANT to have. Never heard of extra stress for other components, plus it DOES save gas AND is helpful for the environment! Seams more like a downgrade to me.

      I've decided to turn off the feature because it almost cost me my life. There was no way in hell I was keeping that feature on after the car turned off in that split second when i needed to accelerate on the crossroads. Also, it's super annoying and damaging the battery I think.

    • @ArminWoods
      @ArminWoods 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grtbgf …it doesn‘t damage the battery. Sorry for your experience! I don‘t know the details of that, but I can‘t think of a situation where that could have happened. If you can‘t completely clear the intersection you shouldn‘t enter it.

    • @grtbgf
      @grtbgf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArminWoods Well, basically i stopped at an intersection, and in the second which took me to look left and right, my car turned off, but kept moving a bit, as i was planning to step on the gas and join the traffic quickly. The problem is the car was manual, and by the time i figured out that the car is off, and the car needing an extra second to turn on again after i step on the clutch, i was already stuck on the road with a truck going towards me. Luckily, he stopped, and nothing happened to me except that i freaked out.
      As far as automatics go, I don't have problem with the car turning off at the lights or in traffic jams, thats alright, but my bmw keeps turning off while i'm manouvering at parking spots. It turns off even between reverse and drive, which is super dumb and annoying, it's just.. infuriating..

    • @ArminWoods
      @ArminWoods 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@grtbgf …ah, with the clutch version I understand well! Yep, scary as it turns off in neutral and kind of keeps rolling if you‘re not on the breaks! It‘s another world with an automatic!

    Why?... Why do people have an issue with stop/start? I don´t get it. Also: IT`S A REGULATORY THING, not something the manufacturers want on the cars.

    • @alphaautoadventures
      @alphaautoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching. For more aggressive drivers that don't want to car to shut off when they are about to accelerate after a quick stop...That could be one reason. Also, less stress on the starter according to my mechanic.

    • @j4m875
      @j4m875 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Start Stop is useful on some occasions however most of the time it makes little to no difference to fuel consumption. Super annoying in traffic unless it's a standstill and as stated, places unnecessary wear on things like the battery, starter etc.
