@@InstrumentManiac This song is SO beautiful!!! As a fellow Contrabass player I definitely felt it! Is there sheet music for this?? I would love to have a crack at it
@@joemartinez2102 you can buy the sheet music for like 13 dollars in the description, which includes alot of perks like sheet music, a backing track, individual parts and transcriptions for multiple instruments, so on and so forth.
This piece would grace the ending of a romantic film, especially one of those with an open ending where the two lovers do not end up together. You did a fine job here.
“This was it, he supposed. This was his last day.” This song really reminds me of this line in a story I wrote. The deepness and the richness of the contrabass clarinet just touches something in the soul. Truly a gorgeous piece and a gorgeous instrument
As a bass clarinet player who has wanted to play this instrument ever sense i started middle school band and just never got the chance, this made me very happy
I was able to play the Contra Bass for my school in Texas when I was a senior and I still have my spare reed 8 years later. I miss this instrument so much and I only was able to play it for maybe 7 months...hopefully someday I'll be able to buy one.
I walked directionlessly, seeing all the barren. The heat of the sun stung my body, expecting something better would happen but it was impossible I would die without direction and purpose, crying all day long This music is beautiful to accompany my poems
I am way late but I’ve since learned this song on my tenor and now I’m getting a bass sax and I’m gonna learn this piece on that when it comes in. This is still the best song I’ve ever heard
I haven't cried like this in some time. Thank you, exquisitely well played! You put bumps all over my goose. Truly captivating! Breathtakingly perfect! Bravissimo!
I've come from years of piano instruction and playing and have not heard of this instrument. I must say I'm very impressed with your ability and talent. I've not totally embraced the classical sides of music but must say you have peaked my interest.. ..Thank You!!
My school owns a contrabass. I play standard bb clarinet and i tried playing bass clarinet and basically figured it out in less than in hour. Now I gotta ask to dig this beast out so I can give this piece a try!
I have to say I absolutely love this piece. It has become a regular on my daily Spotify playlist(which consists largely of death metal and such). Well done!
The harmony the harp adds to this piece is absolutely beautiful. I am in love with how well you play all of them but especially the strings. Those are the ones that made me want to shed a couple of tears. ❤
this is what modern music should be it should invoke a full range of emotion and that is what this piece did it went through the whole range it is absolutely beautiful amazing job i wish there where more people keeping the art of classical music alive sadly its all electronic crap that takes no real talent or real emotion to play music is sadly dying and i loved hearing this it was a true musical experience
My first anniversary is coming up. This perfectly describes the last year. This is simultaneously the best and worst year of my life. Ukraine isn't what it was, but I'd go through all of it again for her. I'm going to play this with a little video presentation I made. I think this will be the perfect tone. Bittersweet but very beautiful. Thank you. I'm sure it will touch her deeply.
Wow! This is incredible. I feel so blown away and humbled that I can watch and listen to your creation. It's like dude!....how! It's so good!!! Thank you as always!
I have no idea why the algorithm suggested this video to me... contrabass clarinet? What the hell? But the sound is absolutely beguiling, just like your composition and the way you play! Never heard anything like it!
This piece is amazing and using Contra bass clarinet is so creative and cool. Please make for pieces involving Contra based clarinet and more pieces like this. I love it and you did an amazing job
I ended up purchasing this piece for myself and I love playing it so much. I’ve always loved the sound of the contrabass clarinet and this really brings out what is so wonderful about it.
Ive been listening to this for months to fall asleep and it really has brought tears to my eyes, the melody is wonderful and adding all the other layers ontop makes the whole piece beautiful. WONDERFUL JOB 👍❤️
Wonderful, you made my night! I wouldn’t expect contrabass clarinet to be such a melodic instrument! Wow, I’m amazed! Very beautiful composition, too Have a great day 😊
Thanks! It's the Leblanc mouthpiece ~$80ish & rovener ligature. I use vandoren wood reeds but I soak and file them down so they play more consistently. Definitely necessary for these reeds that are the size of a 2 x 4!
idk if this is weird but i enjoy putting this on loop to go to sleep to. Its a very calming piece, and it really helps me get my thoughts together. Thank you for the work you put into this masterpiece ☺
I searched up contrabass clarinet for a music project that was about the song Waterfall you did and i find this video while listening to one of your songs
This song reminds me of Alyssa. We were both misfits in elementary school and both of us were bullied. I was her only friend. We hugged and held hands, but never kissed. We played at recess every day, ate lunch together, and despite being one grade younger than me, were lab partners. Sadly she moved away over the summer, and I never got her number. Nobody else who went to my school can remember her, and I'm on an endless search for her. I'm crying right now. If we ever meet again, I pray that on a sunny day on the beach in June, she is wearing a white dress with a veil while carrying a bouquet of carnations, and I am wearing a black tuxedo and a top hat.
My cousin and her sweetheart met when they were both in grade 2 at a tiny school in a farming community. They were happily married for years until, sadly, one passed from cancer.
You wasted no time getting down to business with the new Clarinet. Love it! I can feel that energy through the screen. As always, your playing is beautiful and thereputic. Thanks Luke for another nugget of joy. 🥂 Edit: what key is this in? Am is what I'm getting with hints of D#M.
Bass Clarinets or Contrabass Clarinets (dunno if they are the same) are so amazing yet so rare, especially to have that much of an appearance as in this song. Absolutely gorgeous. Maybe you could do a cover of Kwolok's Hollow one day, it has an amazing bass clarinet, too :D
For those who've seenthe series, and perhaps some availability heuristic at work too as I'd just finished the series, but reminds me of the tone of Andor. Very much actually with that contrabass and pensive melody.
Lovely song! Here's a silly question for you: Does the hardening of your fingertips from playing string instruments make it harder to plug the tone holes on a flute or recorder? Thanks!
I would love to learn how to play this on contralto. It’s so beautiful. I saw the music is also for dblbass, so I wonder how it would sound on bass guitar. Looking to purchase the music maybe 👀
Whoa that sounds incredible! Apart from the composition, what Contrabass model is that? I use an old Leblanc in school, which is still pretty good, but I'd love to try out your setup if possible, at least the mouthpiece model/reed cut and strength!
Thanks! I think it's just a standard Leblanc mouthpiece it came with 😂 For reeds I use 2.5 but spend a lot of time shaving them to get the response better!
@@InstrumentManiac 2.5? I didn't know they make those, and 100% agree about needing to shave them, contra really needs the response. Glad to know I'm not alone in that matter!
I went to my friend with good speakers just to listen to this in all it's glory
Feels like being the misunderstood "villain" while sitting lonely in an elegant well kept home lol
Big mood. I almost want to relate because of how good this song is.

This is a hidden gem of the internet. Thank you sir.
Damn. I've played every clarinet in the choir and never got the contrabass to sound this beautiful. Love it.
The combination of pedal harp and cobtrabass clarinet is really neat. Works better than I would have guessed it would.
One of the most underrated instruments. It's so beautiful and the tone is so good!
When I do orchestra-band transcriptions, the Contrabass Clarinet is my goto for bowed string bass tones.
This was really beautiful. The string accompaniment reminded me of something Baroque, but the melody gave Romantic vibes. You should be proud of this!
