  • Hey all, just wanted to share a build and first impressions video of my new-to-me 2022 Honda CRF450RL (same as CRF450L ). This build is focussed more towards woods riding and I'm a very big/tall guy at 6'7" 270lbs. Consider this a mini review. Full and long term review to come later after a few thousand miles. So consider this my CRF450L Woods build.
    My mods are as follows:
GET SX1 ECU from TacoMoto (tacomoto.co)
FMF Q4 w/ MVI Collar (adapter)
    Tusk Chub ATV High bars
    G2 Throttle Tamer
    ODI Rogue Grips
    Cycra Probend HCM Handguards
    Giant Loop Zigzag handlebar bag
    RaceTech 6.3kg/mm rear spring
    Graves Block off plate
    Smog Removal
    (TIRES COMING SOON)
    Thanks for watching!

Did the SX1 upgrade as well and wow what a difference! My style of riding is like yours and stock ecu was so bad it made me hate the bike. Now i love it and is fun to ride. But ya I agree that start delay is a bit annoying but no big deal now.

Glad you like the bike.... I was in the same circumstance as you... Loved the WR, decided I wanted more power!
Got a KTM 500 22'. Loved it... But I missed the WR lol. There is something about the WR, reliability, low maintenance, and it allows me to enjoy the ride, as opposed to wanting to go as fast/hard etc as possible. Just my experience. But I did get another WR just last week... haha.

I feel ya! This bike has the same vibe as your 500. I love the 450 for the street riding but she’s a handful in the dirt lol.

Great videos with the 450RL! Can you please link your exhaust adapter? I ended up cutting the tip off my OEM muffler to use it with the FMF, and it worked fine. I would like to have a back up adapter though.

It’s the MVI adapter from thumpertalk. I bought it used. I would just go with the CRF450X header though.

I just got a used CRF450RL with only 114 miles. Putting on the GET sx1. Also putting on the Steahley flywheel weight. Do you feel this bike needs the throttle tamer even with the GET and a flywheel weight? I’ve heard different opinions on this.

I have just the ecu and I really don’t feel like it needs anything else. Sure maybe it will improve the low speed stuff even more but the ecu dramatically helped so I’m satisfied. I would say it’s 90% better so you are only getting like another 10% with those other two mods. That’s the best way I can explain it.

How much higher are the Tusk Chub ATV High bars from stock?

    • @OgreMoto

They’re probably about a 2.5-3” rise once you factor in the oversized bar adapters as well.

How do you like it overall compared to the WR?

It’s definitely a more raw experience. More vibration, way more power, and just more sensitive to user input.
It’s like a Corolla vs a Corvette. They both do the same thing, one more practically obviously, but one is made for just driving and the other is made for those who have a passion for driving.
EDIT: This is coming from someone who owns a Corolla and loves it dearly btw lol.

Add a rekluse! Makes the bike a stall proof tractor.
John T Young did it right.

I like the idea, but it doesn’t need one now. Plus they’re very pricey and I like being able to modulate the clutch when in technical scenarios.

So you wouldn't recommend rhe 450rl as a first bike..ookin ar rhe drz and we450r street legal.. isee ALOT. Ld these honda 450rl for sale arpund here..

As a first bike I’d say go with DRZ over the WR450 and CRF450. The DRZ is cheaper and way more mellow.
The WR450 and CRF450 are race bikes with loads of power and are really sensitive to user input. You could very easily get yourself into trouble with the power they have as a beginner.
