During the end of the 3rd Succession War, the Draconis Combine would launch a surprise attack on the Deshler system as a feint for their attempt to retake the Galtor and Marduk systems. However, their forces would manage to seize Deshler, though at a serious cost. With mounting resistance, and the floundering attacks on Galtor and Marduk, the Combine would lead a fighting-withdrawal from all three systems.

I didn't know MechWarrior 5 has been in development for this long.
Not the same game. this was the discarded 1st version. the actual game that released is completly seperate on every level.
If I remember correctly, they wanted to do MW5, but decided to turn it into an online game instead. Hence MWO. They did picked up MW5 years later.
@@urbypilot2136 Wrong. Harmony Gold, the owners of robotech threatened to sue the shit out of Smith and tinker, PGI and microsoft after this trailer was released. I know this comment was 3 months ago. But this is kind of a thing that I have to correct the record on. Now MWO is a disaster. Not gonna defend it. But that came about so the developers could have a steady income source to keep afloat after working on DNF's multiplayer and console ports. which didn't net them that much money despite DNF selling well (Also not a good game but the hype for it at release in 2011 was insane).

For 2009 this looked incredible and pretty revolutionary for games at that time. Glad they completely ruined it so they could sell 500 dollar virtual mechs with gold textures :)

you're mixing this up with mechwarrior online, which is its own thing. mw5 will be focusing on singleplayer and is still in development.
The game was actually canceled because there was a copyright dispute between battletech and another Japanese mech thing where the main mech you see in the trailer looked too much like a mech from the Japanese one so they got sued for it and had to cancel the game but the copyright is now over and they are able to make this game again so mechwarrior 5 is now in development and it looks really good so far plus it's a single player game so no more 500 dollar golden mechs
We wouldnt have that kind of graphic anyway, even now the destruction on building couldnt be so nicely done so having that way back in 2014...

Hypastpist None of the games have been able to implement the melee abilities that the mechs have in Battletech. Trust me, you don't want a 100 ton mech punching you. That thing is devastating if it lands a punch in Battletech.

I just noticed after watching this again that the atlas is a C variant which wouldn't have been in production in 3015 and wouldn't be until 3050. Thanks PGI.

Then I heard the term Stackpoling amongst the BT community and had the same question as you. And apparently, Mr. Stackpole is also among the creators of the Wasteland computer games.

MW5 was complete fucking disaster, from map design, to campaign to voice acting to animations to AI, fucking everything is terrible. I want to like the game too, and it would've helped if it wasn't such a sour taste in my mouth that PGI promised Steam AND VR and never delivered, stole peoples money, made it Epic Exclusive, charge $60 and brought a game that was plain and outright bogus pathetic. For $60. The game should be much less for what it is, it's practically just a simulator shoot em up.

And now they have announced there will indeed be a Mech warrior 5 Mercenaries. Interesting they are moving to the Unreal 4 engine but not surprising. Hopefully they will include co-op so we can play with our friends on missions. Time will tell.
Yea, it would be cool if they did a Warframe like coop system with the normal allies replaced with friends when they join. there was a Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries coop mod made that worked pretty well and it would be great if they did it for Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries as well.

An interesting fact, when the warhummer arrives at the battle site, it shows him with two uac 5's and when he faces the atlas the shots are from machine guns.
No those are machine guns. There are three barrels on each side torso, one being a machine gun, one being a small laser and the other being a medium laser. Look at some older art of the Warhammer and you’ll see it’s the same.

@mikeiona This new game is supposed to use a more realistic radar system where you can only see enemies that are not behind other objects. After the clan invasion in 3050 the active probe was put into use which let you see contacts through obstructions.
Right.. so the MechWarrior franchise is truly dead. This would have been an epic game.

i for one have been loving mechwarrior online, anyone that loved mech 2 mercenaries or any of the mechwarrior games is not a real fan if they dislike the latest and greatest mech shooter ever made, which is MWO.

I did not know that, but still... anybody making any Battletech games (video or otherwise) needs to learn what the Unseen are, and why they're called "Unseen" and stay the fuck away from showing them. Can't even have them in the game. It is real world, legit illegal to show them because they were ripped off from other IPs without license, or the license expired and was not or could not be renewed.
And if you look on the BattleTech forums or on MWO the problem has been solved, though the tabletop versions of the Warhammer and Marauder look much better than the original unseen versions and pretty close to the original unseen art

Two entirely different styles of gameplay. The two can't be compared just because they're both mech games. Hawken is an FPS, Mechwarrior is... Mechwarrior. The mechanics of it are so different it's in a class of it's own.
Mechwarrior was always the best mech game franchise, so bring on the awesomesauce.

Used to play this game back when it first started on paper, I also had all the video games until Microsoft got a hold of it. Nice to see this game making a comeback after MS's fuck up. I play MWO and it does remind me allot of this video. Hoping MWT lives up-to the hype as well.
My Preferred Mech: Daishi x4 Clan ERPPC's JJ's and as many CDHS that can fit onto it. and a few AMS for those who like to use missiles against me hehehe

if you'r wondering, this (what you see in this video) was developed on unreal engine 3, bud sadly harmony fucking gold issued some copy right blabla against pgi for using the warhammer mech because it looks too similar to a robotech whateverest.
so mechwarrior 5 got cancelled, and instead a f2p online 8v8 mech shooter was developed on cryengine 3... mechwarrior online. later it got changed to 12v12 which was a total mistake imho. the game fumbled around with only a few patches here and there, only 1-2 maps and a couple of new mechs... but after 2 years pgi (the dev) bought out the publishing rights from igp (the former publisher) and started to publish themselves.
it went uphill from there. i mean.. a very rocky uphill road, but it got better. we got a plethora of new mechs, we got the clan invasion which introduced clan battle mechs, clan omnimechs and of course clantech. later we progressed in the time period from 3050 to ehm... 3069? so we got lots of new toys to play with like u-ac 2,10 and 20. r-ac 2 and 5, mrm 10,20,30 and 40's. fucking one shot rocket launchers. clans got micro lasers, atm's and what not. we got multiple new maps and the old ones got a renewal update. so much shit got changed... mostly for the better. is it fun? yes. would i recommend it? yes. but except your typical f2p grind if you dont wanna spend any money. what is really good about mwo is that there arent any real p2w meachanics.
now from the money they gathered from mw:o they gathered a bigger team and all that and are now developing mw5 mercenaries. a single player game set in 3015 with 1-4 player coop... but on unreal engine 4. with mod support via steam workshop. so you can be cautiosly hyped :)
(im personally not a big fan of cry engine used for mp games. but oh well. it works xD)

you can't blame them for the shitty F2P MWO though, when you don't have the deep pocket books of major developers you instead have to settle for a 7 year old Cryengine. I would say Microsoft is more at fault for sitting on the franchise for years and doing nothing with it
MustachedChaos can you blame them though? Literally all of the mechs from Macross/Robotech were ripped off by FASA when they made Battletech. They should have reached a settlement years ago, instead they continue to drag this legal battle on for decades for whatever reason.
***** That's because PGI aka Jarhead Games aka Rabbit Hole Interactive (ect the list goes on and on) is a bait and switch company that has always done business by cheating their clients or investors, so no competent investors were willing to actually give them any money. If a reputable developer had come knocking perhaps there would have been a viable possibility of getting funding for MechWarrior 5.
***** Good thing someone knows his stuff. Thus the reason the Marauder and Warhammer are never likely to appear in MWO. Same reason I can't find a marauder package for Battletech without buying a preowned model. Good thing Robotech models are the same size for the game.

+Stuffy Junk the reason mechwarrior 5 was canceled was because the mech that they are piloting in this gameplay has some problem with it because of a copy right with another company because it looked to similar to some other robot from some japanese tv show and im not sure this game was every intended for consoles since the last 4 were not and mechwarrior online the replacement for mechwarrior 5 is a pc only game and they have had plenty of time to release mechwarrior online on xbox one and ps4 since they came out the same year but if you have a good pc i recommend mechwarrior online i play it and its a lot of fun the only thing i do miss was the way mechwarrior 4 mercs was where you picked systems to fly to and what missions and mechs you used and managed your money i wish they would make another mechwarrior game using the same engine and stuff that they have for mechwarrior online and make a single player and charge $30 or 60 if its good enough

He missed a few shots since his Mech did not have the advance Gyros which caused him to miss with the PPC's while taking damage, but he did manage to put a beating on the Atlas tho.
there are no advanced gyros... And PPCs do have a minimum range to them
PPC's are also not good at close range. The pilot still had that drone tooling about and could have easily backed off and tried to engage at range.

1. because that's the closest how a bipedal mech will walk, shoot, etc. you can't slide and roll in a mech which it's movement controlled with hydraulics
2. oh because it's heavy (70 ton) vs assault (100 ton). they have firepower but lack of maneuverability, especially the big Atlas. if you want a fast movers, look for light and medium class. but they lack of firepower and maybe armor
3. with a laser cannon and missile pod attached on it? cool.
Looks decent and feels heavy. The voice acting is extremely bad however, it almost feels like a 80s porno movie.

@swgoliath: In MechWarrior4: Mercs I did just that. Designed a nice assault mech called "Torch 'n Pop". Got an AC, 20~ hot sinks, 2xArtillery Beacon +4tons of ammo(ie: 80 damage in one shot), and the coup de grace: 6x Clan Flamers!
This baby can stand in your face, shut down your PPC's, and make you overheat in 4-5 shots. And since it's an assault mech (for anti-assault mechs), it has no problem getting range or trading blows. Once you force him to shut down. . . . AIRSTRIKE for 80dmg!

@oblivi0ndoll 1. I understand and agree. I said "sometimes" because it wasn't all the time. However, those times i feel clumsy I really feel there is something missing in this game. The movement & firing system in mechs is way to hard. I would like the movement & firing system from other FPS such as Call of Duty.
2. Flanking an enemy is not possible in multiplayer. It is just fighting head-on and care enough not to overheat.

I think that MWO (MechWarrior Online) and Mechwarrior 5 are two completely different games. MW 5 is supposed to release early in 2018. The single player arc of the franchise returns! I can't wait!

they were the first mechs to be made for the boardgame. unfortunately, the liscense to use macross images expired, and the other owner of it threw a fit over their use. so the old artwork was dropped. so for fifteen years now, they've been "unseen" parts of the game. this game came after a new agreement was made..but unfortunately, the other company has thrown another fit over them and the macross based art still can't be used. so don't expect this mech in the final game.
@kennykiller911 i dont think this looks like much of a competitor to hawken simply because judging from the gameplay footage hawken will be a much more multiplayer focused faster paced shooter and this will be a lot more drawn out with probably more of a 1 on 1 or swarm mode theme online and with a decent single player campaign however i could be wrong since there isn't much info on mechwarrior at the moment
@Brokencyde504 PC Gamer is gonna release a ton of new info on it in about 2 hours. It's still very much alive and kicking, but it's gonna be a PC exclusive now instead of releasing on consoles too.

anyone else thinks the female computer voice is way more sexy than what we have now in that current MW5 game? is there any mod out there could fix this?
