Cool to see the use of variables and well explained, thank you. I have a couple of dumb questions, I hope they make sense. I see that you are triggering the CUE button from p3 - 9 if I remember correctly, if the CUE button is moved, do the triggers assigned to it automatically update to it's new location or do we have to find them and edit manually? Thinking further, (still new to companion) can we name a button and reference that instead of a location? Finally, I saw you mention triggers, rather than call a button, can we just have a trigger that constantly looks at the countdown variable and does the cue action at 0?
Thanks for the video, subscribing 👍

Hi Martin, I actually have moved the three main Cue control buttons to p97 as backend control page, and then have “reference aliases” that are copied to pages 1-4. But yes, you can move the buttons, but need to make sure the buttons are referencing the right button. And re triggers, yes you could have a trigger that that listens for “0” and then takes an action.

Hi David. great video as always. I have made some changes to the VLC profile i bought form you and I am trying to achieve something with it. Is it possible to set for example, the VLC Cue, when it reaches 00 to trigger the Atem to witch from PVW to PGM automatically? I want to be able to play a video and not worry about what happens after the video ended, therefore have `companion switch from video player to switching the ATEM automatically to whatever channel I have on Preview. I am used to using Mitti and it has that kind of stuff all included which is nice, and was hoping to be able to use VLC to do that also. If so, please could you show me how I could set that up? Thanks in advanced.

Hey Emmanuel, did we answer that sufficiently on yesterday’s livestream?

Is there a way to use Variables to select next/previous camera, expecially like the one that's used as the source for PIP? Or being able to move PIP to the diferent 4 corners but with one button?

In v3 of companion you will be able to use a stepped button to cycle through multiple settings on the one button

You were using the modify custom variable function on this video. I don’t see that action in companion 3. Any solutions?

Good question - they've changed it now to "internal: Custom Variable: set with expression". Choose the variable you want to change, and then if you want to modify that same variable, add that same variable back into the "Expression" field and then modify it.. i.e. "$(internal:custom_value) + 1" would add 1 to the a variable called "value"

If the David wants me to watch an hour long video then maybe help by cutting out the first 6 minutes of preroll and then all the other bits where whatever he is trying to do that go wrong. I know its a recording of a live stream but if he cannot be bothered to trim and tidy the final video how do I know how accurate the rest is. Its a shame because although I got fed up of all the errors I could pick a few bits out here and there that were useful.
