And that she and Joni Mitchell are close is like a colliding of eras of my life - I learned guitar by playing her songs in the late 60s. One of my musical idols. And I loved the name-dropping between Brandi and Ellen!
This Woman deserves every bit of credit she gets. Worked so blooming hard. So grateful i got to see her like 13 years ago in small venues. Her voice almost blew off the bloody roofs, never mind the doors. Oh yeah, I'm British. 😅
I usually can't follow Ellen questions because she start and doesn't finish and brings in another one. She gets off her current statement then goes to another. Is it me or others sees it too?
All American interviewers have this behaviour. I assume it's because either they are looking for sound bites or American audiences have only millisecond attention spans.
British people are not 'condescending'... It's just OUR accent and LANGUAGE. 😆 We speak with a 'normal' British accent and say 'You are all - instead of Y'all' 😂
There is one British "language" but more than one British accent (Posh is not Geordie is not Birmingham) just as there is only one part of the very vast United States that uses Y'all (the Southern US). Both countries share the same language, English, with different variations depending on the region. Brits can be as condescending as Americans depending on the circumstances

The use of the word Y'all is spreading beyond the south. I watch a lot of TH-cam videos and I've noticed it's very common for people to refer to their audience as y'all. People from places like New Jersey and the Midwest and even other countries . It is becoming very popular in Australia and South Africa. Non native English speakers who are learning English from the Internet also use it. It has always been used by African Americans everywhere and Gen Z (people under thirty) have adopted it as a cool inclusive word. There are have been several articles written about this trend recently. The BBC has one y'all can look up.
