- The first set of F-16s are set to arrive in Ukraine by July, around two years after Kyiv started asking its Western allies for the US-made fighter jets. F16 for air superority...f18 for navy
The F/A- 18 E/F can be used as an air superiority fighter for the Navy and Marines, but that’s usually left up to the F-15s or F-22s if possible, especially overland when/if you have the choice. The super hornet is larger, carries more ordinance, slower and less nimble at higher speeds than the F-16 so it’s better used as an air-to-ground platform/ anti-shipping using Harpoon missiles or AGM-154C LRASM. Also, we can’t forget the E/A-18G Growler for Electronic warfare or Suppression of enemy Air defenses. The EW capabilities of the Growler are actually quite impressive if you look at all it can do and what it can avoid or jam….. almost anything it can detect it can jam or hit with an AGM-88 HARM or numerous Air-to-air missiles like the AIM-120. not a huge deal but several of your graphics were displaying the F/A 18 Hornet (rounded intakes) as opposed to the F/A 18 Super Hornet (larger & squared intakes).

The main advantage of F-16 over F-18 is that it is cheaper. F-18 is more powerful in general.
Can’t forget the EA-18G Growlers and their capabilities to conduct EW and SEAD missions. F-16s conduct SEAD missions with the HARM as well but the EW suit in the Growler is nothing to sneeze at. Growlers would be a great in small numbers to help escort the F-16s when they enter the edge of an enemies AD range. They’d need new pilots to be trained on a new airframe, new mechanics, different parts, etc. etc., not gonna happen lol.
Edit: btw, the super hornet has the square intakes, not the rounded ones like the regular hornets have. Your first photo of the viper next to the hornet wasn’t a Super hornet but an F/A-18 D model.. the D is the double seat hornet, the F is the double seat SUPER hornet.
Great job comparing stats of the two planes and using metric for the F18 and Imperial for the F16.
I have flown both of these aircraft, l think the F16 is superior but not by much
I flew an F-22 in Vietnam and an F-35 in the Korean War.
I think the F-22 is better.

The F-18, its is set up to handle rough conditions unlike the F-16. The F-16 isn't a bad aircraft but when compared to the F-18 it falls short except on top speed but how many times does top speed mean in a battle!

According to the video the F/A-18 has three times the range of the F-16. They could be stationed further away from the front line to keep them safe from attack.

F18 = Air Superiority. You Have To Know How to fight with a F16. An F16 with an Optically Guided Missile Will Beat an F18. The F18 has to Run. Actually Depends on what Your Trying to do.
To Attack Abroad: I'd use an F18. Time is your Enemy. You Have to hit and Run. An F16, outnumbered Will be Shot down. Abroad You Will be Outnumbered.
At Home, you Wont be Outnumbered. If the Attacking F18 - Stays and Engages to Strike a Ground Target instead of Running. The F16 with an Optically Guided Missile will Shoot it Down.
