    No talking, just walking. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice gentle walk along the River Dove. Starting in Dovedale, crossing over the well known and popular Dovedale stepping stones, and following the river all the way to the small village of Milldale. Started this morning walk very early to beat the crowds of people that sure enough were there on the walk back. Come 10am the place was heaving with people.. It was nice to walk this very early and in peace!
    My 34th of hopefully many video walks.

    About Dave's Walks
    Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
    I mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
    I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

      The UK has some of the most beautiful and diverse countryside in the world. The only downer is - that it rains a lot. But that is why it is so green I suppose. The UK is like a world in miniature, you can find every sort of scenery here, from lakes and mountains to beaches that go for miles with hardly anyone on them! Also easy to get about with a superb motorway system.

      One of my favourites to film. Took many attempts, which was great because I got to walk it many times! I hope to film it again after some heavy snowfall, but I think that's easier said than done because of snow closing all the country lanes. Will have to see.

    What strikes me is 60 million people on a tiny island and not another person sighted on this entire walk. Its not as though its in the middle of know where! In our over crowed little island these places are often missed/overlooked.

    • @DavesWalks
      @DavesWalks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Haha oh Tony. This video took me about 7 attempts to do and is by far the hardest video I've ever done, all because of how busy it gets! I was determined to get it done with as few people in it as possible. You would think this place be quiet at 9am, but its impossible to film. So many people. I got up at 4.30am to get this one done. It's crazy just how quick this place becomes heaving! This place gets uncomfortably busy! After filming I walk it back to get to the car. I passed about 270 people on the way back, and by about 8.30am you have to queue for 20 min just to cross the stones and the car park is near full which I reckon is about 800 cars. Easily one of the busiest place I know. I got very lucky to get a capture with nearly no one in it! I was close to giving up on this one!

    Hello Dave, I've watched this video more than 20 times.
    This is the place you take me to when I feel blue. Or I show/ share it with joy to people I love.
    I wanted to say to you that I like all your videos, some I truly cherish, like precious things, like secret places I love to come back to & would like to see irl.. but I'm afraid they don't really exist. It is too beautiful.
    I like the way you don't walk too fast like others, and most of the time you follow the path I would have chosen (lol) & sometimes you turn around to see what is surrounding you. You take time.
    The sounds are so well recorded . The image quality stunning (those greens here!!),
    I feel like I'm really walking next to you. Silently, eyes wide open and listening.
    I just miss the smell as I already said in a comment ( under a video by the sea shore) but I almost can...
    The way you make those videos shows your talent.
    Thank you for sharing quality content with us (with not too many adds that's a real +)
    I really wish you the best for 2022 Dave, Take care...

    “Nietzsche was the one who did the job for me. At a certain moment in his life,the idea came to him of what he called 'the love of your fate.' Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens, you say, 'This is what I need.' It may look like a wreck, but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge. If you bring love to that moment--not discouragement--you will find the strength is there. Any disaster you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow.
    Then, when looking back at your life, you will see that the moments which seemed to be great failures followed by wreckage were the incidents that shaped the life you have now. You’ll see that this is really true. Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not. The crisis throws you back, and when you are required to exhibit strength, it comes.”
    ― Joseph Campbell

    It’s so beautiful! Every minute of it and you captured it extraordinarily well as always. One question though, is that trail always this quiet? You pretty much had the entire place to yourself! What time of the day/year did you go there? This one is definitely being added on to bucket list.

    • @DavesWalks
      @DavesWalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Glad you enjoyed it, ah unfortunately no it is not at all this quiet normally. This place gets painfully busy during the summer months, Don't know about the winter months but then it isn't as pretty during the winter, no greenery. To enjoy the walk like this, I recommend being there for around 6am or earlier. This walk took many filming attempts as I really wanted to show it without people every 3 meters. Once I finished filming, I have to walk it back to the car park. And it is a different story, I probably passed about 250 people on the walk back, had to join a que to cross the stones, and this is before 9am.

    It looks like I could walk with pushchair for my daughter, beautiful and amazing views, could you please post exact location for this place please?

    • @DavesWalks
      @DavesWalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is a link in the description which shows the whole path I walked and there is a car park at either end, but I would advise to go VERY early as car parks can be full come 9am. This place can get very over the top crowded and busy! This was my 4th attempt at filming this with as few people as possible and I got really lucky! This was around 7am. People flock to this location in there thousands so please bare that in mind! If you catch it when it's quiet, it really is beautiful place!

      Took a bit of investigating, I believe them to be remnants of old railway lines, All around the local areas here, there were small railways that operated from around 1900 to the 1930's transported dairy/farm products and passenger services to local villages and beauty spots. It closed as more efficient ways of transport came about and it's main dairy farm that used it relocated.

    Hi Dave, I found this video after watching your Lake District one and it looks so peaceful. I was just wondering what time of year and what time of day you visited as last time I travelled here for a walk it was incredibly packed and I’d love to experience it this quiet!
    Thanks for all the amazing content I can’t wait to watch more 😊

      Glad you are enjoying the content :) It was 7th August, and I arrived just before 7am for it to be this quiet. If you want to experience this walk without the crowds, then before 7am is really the only way. By 9am there was already a large queue to cross the stepping stones.

      capturing this place with near no people is a hard task. I was up at about 4am to drive and film this, after filming on the walk back to the car, I had to queue to cross back over the stepping stones. Even at 8am the place had 100s of people and the car park was full. I kind of get it because the place is stunning, and I suppose people assume it will be quieter than it is due to it being in a remote-ish location..

      @@DavesWalks The car park was full Sunday 23rd June; nowhere to park by the time I got there. Thorpe Cloud was so crowded at the top. Ilam was equally busy. It's amazing that you saw it so empty of people; no wonder you had to start so early in the morning.
