I had the vulcan 1600 and I also rode the 2000 of the same model year. The 1600 was way better for around town the 2000 was insane on the interstate. They dont make either anymore but they make the vaquero a 1700, they also make 2 versions of the 900. Me personally i think kawasaki should throw in like a 1200 to compete with the other indian scout segment. Id buy a 1200. Harley cancelled their 1200 and 883, sad. For me a 1200 is a nice balance between interstateable, but also nkt too big so its nice around town in the parking lots etc
Beginner bike can be whatever you are comfortable with. You as an individual should be able to understand your limitations. If you are getting into bikes you usually have friends or someone you can talk to about things. I started on a 2009 Kawsaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT, saddle bags and all. I put a little under 3000 miles on it and moved up to a 2001 Ducatti ST2 modified to be right at 1000cc. I have since then also purchased a 1700 Vaquero. I am still relatively new to riding. But once again it is what you make of it. I personally believe a 900 is a perfect start. Not too slow for interstate and no sixth gear to let you punch it on the interstate. Its perfect. It is wide and will get you use to wider bikes.
My first bike was a Sportster 883 and my dad had a Vulcan 900 at the time. I had an easier time on his bike than I did on the Sportster. It's all relevant really.
Maybe depends on the country or skill level, I started on a Vulcan 900 and still have it many years later. It has been reliable and I now find it somewhat slow but it keeps me from being too stupid.
I got a 2015 vn900custim with lots of upgrades and I love it, I wish I had a bunch of Kawasakis to do a ride with , stay blessed

That's when you know you're really in a liberal part of town. They just watched him ride away with that bike. SMH

In a conservative part of town he would have been arrested for riding his own bike..
