Rory opened for Deep Purple on the Machine Head tour. Rory was so effing good that after Deep Purple finished their encore we fans were screaming for Rory to come back out!! He di and absolutely blew the roof off of the place!!!!
My buddy and I will be visiting Ireland this year and will visit Rory's grave in Cort to pay our respects. I will have a Rory shirt on as soon as we touch down in Dublin. We both have been playing over 50 years and saw Rory 4 times here in Calif. Long live the memory of the great Rory Gallagher!
People warned me that Rory just comes in and blows the place away so I was jaded and prepared but Rory just blew the place away. I have never seen a happier audience of concert goers in 50 years since I saw the great Rory Gallagher.
Many thanks for the vid! 🎼 I don't want a Jensen, I don't want an MGB. I don't want a Jensen, I don't want an MGB. I'm goin' up to Detroit City, gonna pick up a Ford for me. But you can't beat my Ford when I'm rollin' down, rollin' down, rollin' down a country mile... 💥💨🏁🍁🍂🍃 RIP Rory Gallagher ♥️
Best is purely subjective. For me it is Jimi hands down but Rory was one of the greats, a total original a humble guy, a killer slide player and I am glad that his music is getting more exposure through youtube because he deserves it.
@@hesch-tag Well I gotta say I've seen them both live and it really depends on the day when I think who would be number one. Today I'll have to give the nod to Rory as that's who I'm listening too now, :) Stay safe
I could give you my top ten favourites of all time. It’s not who’s the best because that’s all on individual taste but if I did a list the first name on will always be Rory
Here in America, everyone talks about what a great slide guitar player that Duane Allman was, and he was, but in my book he is 2nd to Rory. I was fortunate enough to see Rory in Jacksonville Florida back in 1975 and it is still one of the best performances that I have ever seen and I have seen MANY !!! This man doesn't get the respect that he deserves. IMHO, this is also Rory's best lineup with Lou Martin on keys, Rod De'Ath on drums, and the old reliable Gerry McAvoy on bass.
@@Unclemoparman Exactly. There is still something very odd about how Rory Gallagher is discussed and commented about on all American Media - both Social and Corporate. If most contemporary American rock/blues fans are ignorant about Rory - fair enough. But, millions of American fans bought his albums and religiously attended his concerts when they could. It is simply ridiculous to talk about a European guitar legend, who was worshipped throughout the European Continent, greatly admired by the true blues cognoscenti in the United States, and who sold over 30 million albums as being "underrated". Is this just musical ignorance or a generational issue? If people just listen to all the "corporate" approved artists, then that is all that they will ever know and recognize.
Our man the very blessed Rory Gallagher and his boys playing like there was no tomorrow, it was all or nothing from Rory, you all ways got your monies worth and far far far more at a Rory gig it was like watching someone you knew that you were never going to see the likes of ever again (unless it was another Rory and band gig). I wore out many pairs of good quality leather and swade boots dancing along to Rory and his band. All those years later I recall each and every one of the many gigs I got to see Rory & Band play so All that I can now say is Thanks A Million,Thank you Rory and the boys in your band for the brilliant times, music and the memories you gave to us all.
Saw first ever gig at Manchester free trade Hall 1977 epic. Mayhem as lights went down and folk from upstairs legged past 2 bouncers to go nuts at the front staĺls...first 4 rows of seats collapsed under a sea of bodies....rory booted lou Martin's piano and he carried on playing as it swung across the stage. Saw him 10 times....true legend. Epic live
Whither it's Duane Allman, Sonny Landreth, Hound Dog Taylor, Ana Popavic, Derick Trucks, Bonnie Raitt, Little Ed or whoever doesn't matter. I think all slide players have their own distinct sound and style, more so than regular guitar players. But Rory was a true master live, how he could play at such a high energy and not watch what he was doing was amazing.
I didn't know him and didn't come across his music since 2014, but I happened to experience something wonderful with his songs and biographies and his way of being through the interviews and documentaries that make me feel under the weather because I do miss him as well. Thanks everyone that shares this because throughout this community you don't feel so lonely.
Great, make sure you go to the RoryFest in his birthtown of Ballyshannon, Donegal in Ireland. Stay in a tent on the campsite for the weekend like a true fan, then you will have truly lived!
@@johncollins5552 Thank you John. That's definitely in my bucket list. I've visited some of his places and memorials in Ireland, but couldn't make it to the Festival. Craving to go sometime.
I was lucky enough to be at the Brighton Dome gig in 1977, although i remember little about the gig from that time, apart from Bullfrog and the audience going crazy, surely Rory along with Peter Green have to be up there with the very best.
Greatest of all time. So thankful to say saw this lineup 2-3 times. The rockinest live act I ever saw hands down full stop no doubtsy boutsy T/y & good night! We love RORY forever.
I first met Rory Gallagher 47 years ago when I was 14 years old. When I saw the album cover of Live in Europe displayed in a record store, I thought he was a great guitar player and bought it without knowing the contents. At that time, in Japan, the cycle was that albums that gained popularity in Europe and the United States were released first, and the previous works came in later, so the order of listening was opposite.
This came on as a midroll ad whilst I was watching a Rory BBC Sessions compilation. Needless to say, it's the only ad I've ever stopped what I was doing to watch with full attention! Thank you, Rory. :)
I got kicked out of my apartment for playing Souped Up Ford on my 100W Marshal amp. The funny thing is I think it was my drum playing that was my undoing because......I plugged my stereo into my amp and blasted it and banged on my drums to it.
This just may be one of the best rock in roll songs all time!

I love Rory' artistry but even more he was a decent caring human being.

Rory gets lots if respect, is not underrated, he sold 30 million albums and did 21 tours of America.

When Jimmy Hendrix was asked by 'Rolling Stone' mag, how does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world, he said: "Dunno, ask Rory Gallagher!"
So that's at least 3 guys Hendrix said was better than him. Terry Kath, Johnny Winter and Rory
We could argue all day about who the best guitar player is/was...but I know damn well who my favourite is.
Correct!
Amen
Kenny B Exactly.
Me too. Rory Gallagher!
No argument required
Rory Gallagher of course
No one eyed comments from me
Nice one Rory nice one son , nice one Rory let's hav another one
Time for Rory. Time for the show. Time for Rory. Let's have another go!
Only Rory could play Slide Guitar this fast and lound. Sounding just like a souped up Ford.
