English with accents was always a problem to me. I don't have any accents with Spanish nor Chinese because I was raised in South America and Chinese was spoken at home. I think because learning English at age 16 was a little late to learn without accents of my mother language.

Before the 20th century, all the clothes were washed at home, by hand. We just forgot how to do it. Thank you for showing everyone it can still be done, and that dry cleaning is sometimes (or most of the times) a waste of money (especially when they destroy your clothes). Well done!

You're amazing! When I searched "how to wash drycleaning only clothing at home" I first saw a video with this pretentious looking woman mostly trying to promote her sponsors, so I left her video and found yours right underneath. You were direct, insightful and extremely helpful. I'm now going to buy a wash bag big enough for my blazer and try your method. Wish me luck 😅

compare it to one dry cleaned in a side by side comarrison they like washed because they dont like paying for proffesstonally. just goes to show you she knows noting about dry cleaning ask to see your local dry cleaners facility, 70000 in equipment is not the same as a wash machine!!!

You could put a pair of old tights through the arms of your sweater while you are drying it so you have no peg or clip marks then using pegs clip the ends of the tights securely onto the washing line Although many labels suggest wool jumpers are dried flat so they do not stretch while wet my tip is for not such delicate sweaters/ jumpers this is good for blouses too but get a pair of old tights that have been washed a few times so the colour doesn't come out of the tights if they get a bit wet older washed ones won't leak onto your lovely white blouse or you could even use a pair of white tights to be sure

With the new washer machine nowadays does has “hand wash cycle “🤗. I put my dry clean clothes and other delicate clothes together and I just use the “hand wash cycle”. I just hang up and let dry by itself. Dry cleaning service does cost lot of money. I did take my chance and thanks goodness, my clothes turn out just fine.😍

People are unbelievably rude. First of all, there is nothing that is unclear about anything that she said. Perhaps, those who speak English should make a better tutorial completely in Spanish and you better not make any mistakes. Secondly, she took the time to help you haters out who obviously needed help with this topic, otherwise, you wouldn’t be here. This is why a lot of people don’t create videos. There are too many trolls who just want to tear people down for no reason. I was looking for this information, because I’m tired of paying ridiculous dry cleaning fees, and this video was very informative and it’s going to save me a lot of money. There was nothing that I didn’t understand about this video. She did a fantastic job! There is so much knowledge out there that could be shared on various topics, but they will never see the light of day, because people are too critical. If there are questions that you have that she didn’t answer, then go find another video with the same topic or do a Google search. Better yet, go to the dry cleaners and keep spending your money. Is it not easier to do that instead of ripping someone’s video apart for no reason? She kindly took the time to make this video to help YOU out when she could have just kept the information to herself. Okay, I’m done with my rant. 😂

All I can say is you have been very lucky in keeping your clothes in good shape. A reputable dry cleaner would clean lights and darks separately and frequently refresh chemicals. Some clothes must never be washed; buckram and other interfacings may contain glue or become soft/unstable when wet. Never wash expensive tailored clothes, you will ruin them.

    • @LopezDeGullRevamp
      @LopezDeGullRevamp  7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Hi Rachel, hope you are doing great.
I am 37 years old and it wasn't until 2008 that I was able to shop for most of my wardrobe, from stores like Ann Taylor, The Limited, Banana Republic, Loft, and similar. For me, clothing was and still is a luxury, even the ones coming from the stores that I've mentioned, and because of that I treat them to last for a long time. What I want to tell you is: if I dared to share my experience through a video in TH-cam is because I have found good value in my practice.
I am also able to find value in what you said, and I will keep it in mind when I own expensive clothing to take care of, thank you for that.

Wool is sheep hair. Sheep get rained on. Their hair doesn’t shrivel up.
Just wash wool by hand with tepid water and shampoo, lay the item on a towel, roll it up, then place it on a dry towel to air dry.
A lot of today’s dry cleaning uses water.

It is very helpful because I just received a very cool wool jacket in the mail that I purchased on eBay. A friend once told me that to clean suede you can lay a coating of damp sand on it, leave it to dry then brush it off. Not being a great fan of suede, i've never tried it but I would if I had suede things. Play sand that wouldn't stain, I suppose and on a hidden part to test it.

    • @mulliganstew72
      @mulliganstew72 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ange Browne ugh not Sure they’ll get clean that way but Guessing the abrasion from the sand maybe damaging if not at least you’ll be sitting there cleaning up Sand for days… There are products on the market you can use for suede but just a brush with stiff bristle usually does the trick. Protecting/preventing it is the first step so whenever you buy some sweet suede shoes for example, get suede protecting spray (Nordstrom sells one) & use per the instructions. This will protect it against the elements and will help prevent staining.

Mimi Ramone I would use a plastic sheet. However, I am sure there are other ways, such as you have mentioned.
I think only coarse sand would scratch. Soft sand shouldn't.

Mag San It will totally work. Do not put it in the dryer and keep it on cold LOL I just picked up a bunch of silk from the Goodwill and I did it all in the washing machine hung it to dry it smells fresh and is wrinkle free! Save so much time & money this way. I keep a bunch of those lingerie bags around (dollar store sells them) and use them for every single piece. Handwashable panties, Quality dry clean only silk scarves, I will sweaters, all my winter scarves and hats, and more…Be sure to use mesh bags because they prevent strain on the fabric as it goes through the cycle. I learned the hard way with my silk pillowcases before I knew about the magic of the mesh bags!

Hi Roy, hope you are doing great!
Thank you for your kind words and support I appreciate it very much :)
Leather and suede must be taken to the specialist to be cleaned.
What I can recommend, because I have tried it in my black leather jacket and many of my bags and shoes, is to use baby wipes to gentle pad an area in desperate need of a quick cleanup (like in the collar).
But if what you need is to clean it entirely or under the arms, please bring it to the professional leather care shop.
The baby wipes I trust for it are Huggies Natural Care Wipes.
Thank you again for watching my video and for your kind words.
      Have a wonderful week!

very good to pin shoulder pads to garment as holds all together. pin lining too if needed. I use tiny bit of sop, 1 cup of clear amonia, agitate in machine a few times, let sit, agitate again and drain, go to rinse, add little vinegar, agitate and spin, remove pins fromm pads and carefully hang or lay out. this site did not say cloth of jacket. wool jacket, greater care. she is right - can tKe to cleaners for pressing.

Hi Yumi, welcome! This type of laundry bags are generally made from nylon mesh. Regarding the detergent, you need to use one for delicate clothing, put it in the detergent dispenser or diluted first in the water in the machine tube. You can find more details in the Video description section.

I also do not like the dry cleaner smell and do not think the job most dry cleaners do is so good. But I worry the colors will run on a multicolored rayon dress if I do it myself.

Hi Ayanna, hope you are doing great! Thank you very much for your question.
It should work well to clean your jacket. Just be sure of washing it with cold water, delicate cycle, inside a laundry bag, with mild detergent like woolite, and put it in a hanger to airdry in the shadow.
If the jacket has any embellishment, be sure that they are stitched before washing.
      Thank you again!

It’s very difficult to explain something like that in a language that’s not your first language. Specially when you are not used to that language. She did a great job doing it and she will get better at it. In the meantime, all of you who make fun of her will always be speaking broken English. You sound to me like you could be Venezuelan. I’m Venezuelan and we are always paying attention and trying to speak using the correct grammar that’s why we pause so much before we speak.

She spoke perfect English, I didn’t notice any issue. The only people who complain about accents when someone is speaking English are the people who have never spoken another language themselves. Most English speakers who actually speak English well do not have any issues with any foreign or native accents (the US, for example, has hundreds, even thousands of little regional accents, so a “foreign” accent shouldn’t even be noticeable to someone who hears a lot of accents from everywhere anyway; it’s funny, I don’t notice them, I just notice people who comment), nor do they have any issues with anyone who is still learning the language and is trying.
It’s usually just the native English speakers with poor grammar, those who would never attempt a second, or third, or fourth language, that are unintelligent, immature and complain...and they complain about everything...absolutely everything.
Really, in the US, if someone complains about an accent or about someone who is still learning English, everyone else just assumes that the complainer is from a very small town and never gets out of that town, and must not be very smart if they haven’t ever heard an accent before. We look down on complainers as unsophisticated, unintelligent, and rude. If someone is trying, that’s more than the average lazy complainer will ever do.
Everyone else has no issues. Accents are welcome, and even usually go unnoticed. After all, it’s the US. It is made up of people from all over the world. That’s what makes it the US. Accented English is normal.

Hi Sam, hope you are doing great!
Once you are done with the washing part, put them to air dry in a hanger (if the fabric is woven with no elastic) or over a flat surface that allows for air to flow through when the fabric has elastic, as in sweaters, jerseys and the like.
      Happy holidays!
