When I started The Diary Of A CEO I wanted to look into the diaries of people with unique stories, people who had been in remarkable positions and individuals who had dealt with challenging situations. As you’ll know if you watch this channel - most of my guests are not CEO’s - they tend to be individuals who have been in unique positions, authors, well known names in society or people with unique stories - My objective is to try and find the truth within that diary and to provide a long-form perspective on that story that you might not get on other short form media platforms. Then, it’s up to you - the viewer - to arrive at your own conclusions. It’s worth saying, I will always interview whoever I want to *on my channel* and as the viewer you can choose to listen or choose not to listen. I’ve never understood the notion that an independent channel like mine can’t interview certain people that the entire mainstream media can…? I think if you have done something wrong or questionable, an explanation goes a long way. But you haven't so I don't think you need to explain yourself (and it sounds a bit defensive to be honest). Different people bring different perspectives so I thought this was an interesting interview and you were an excellent interviewer. Even in these circumstances he didn't move me. I still think MH is disingenuous wasteman and the fact he had the audacity to speak to you about empathy ... Yeah 🤣

Steven , you are an incredibly gifted interviewer. You listen , you don’t interrupt and you ask intelligent , relevant questions. You have a rare gift in that you can draw people out without sounding intrusive.
As someone who lost my father to covid in the first wave, we were not able to visit dad as he lay dying. We stood outside his window and prayed. We continued to hope. We got asked to send pictures of ourselves so they could place them around him and our names so they could say them to him. To let him know we cared. We received the phone call to say he was not going to survive. That they had tried everything but it could not be enough. The pain of receiving that call 😓💔. The hospital went against what was allowed and let both me and my mum with him in his final moments whilst the rest of the family were outside knowing he was about to pass. Emily, an incredible nurse who had cared for dad with so much love for those two weeks sobbed. Devastated alongside us. Once he had died and because we had been into ICU, we would now have to self isolate for 14 days away from the family. No hugs from anyone because we had the privilege of being with him when he died. This is something we know is an absolute privilege because tens of thousands of families were unable to. Tens of thousands of people died alone. The funeral was a graveside burial with only 8 of us there. The pain of hearing Hancock’s voice. Of showing barely any remorse. For showing little ‘empathy,’ the thing he astonishingly thinks he has. Of his blind loyalty to a Prime Minister who has laughed in the face of every single person who sacrificed for the greater good. Thank you for interviewing him and letting him expose himself as the odious, self-obsessed, shallow little man he is. The pain he caused through his bad decision making alongside the government to so many of us is unparalleled. Even ‘ in hindsight’ you continued to give yourself a clap on the back. I hope you read this comment too, Hancock.
I’m really sorry to read of the loss of your dad. I am seething with you watching this, I need him to understand how despised he is, how pathetic his rebrand is and if he could kindly go hide in a shed forever even for the sake of his kids let alone the rest of the hurt he’s inflicted.
Sarah, I am so sorry. I also lost my father, quite suddenly it was within a short period of time in 2020 when he got diagnosed with cancer. From March 2020 to June 2020 he was in and out of hospital, sometimes for weeks at a time and we lost so many valuable moments with him in his last few months. Matt Hancock was a the poster boy for me not being able to see my Dad and then to find out he was out there doing whatever he liked, although I wasn't totally surprised, it still felt like a knife in my stomach. He's a vile human being and deserves no sympathy, I'm glad he was on the podcast if for no other reason than to expose himself for the pathetic person he clearly is. Once again, very sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. We will be holding a celebration of life for my Dad some time this year, since the funeral was so small. Although it's not the same it could be a way to help to remember your Dad's life and reconnect with those friends and others who loved him. Lots of love to you and your family.

Rishi Sunak a ‘difficult background’? As a brown person I can confirm Uncle Rishi is a rich Asian person and was born into a privileged, rich Asian family. Great podcast but so further from reality in some parts.

Sunak's Mother was a Pharmacist! If you know that part of Southampton, you'd understand the point better. Why is it, that we think paid education is worse than multiple luxury holidays? How Sunak's parents choose to spend their own money is entirely their business not ours. As for Hancock, he explained his education pathway, due to his extraordinary ability despite dyslexia, to compete with older contemporaries and succeed at a high level.

Completely disagree. He got off so lightly. The whole respect and empathy nonsense spouted is just incredible irony. A guy who cheated on his wife and country and who blindly supports a prime minister who missed cobra meetings, openly spoke about shaking everyone's hands whilst simultaneously telling everyone to social distance to be interrupted by Chris Whitty in the same sentence. Then get the virus itself. Also as a advisor on data protection, what he said was absolute lies. He is exactly the reason why there should be cameras in every public service domain. To keep people accountable! It has nothing to do with privacy.

One of the reasons this podcast is so great is because of Steven’s willingness to have discussions with a wide variety of people. You don’t have to agree with all opinions of the guest, or even like them, to learn something new from the conversation. I’ve never really understood the mindset of politicians (as politics is something I don’t personally enjoy) but this episode is helping me gain more insight into how a politician thinks and needs to process/balance difficult decisions. Although I don’t agree with much of what Matt Hancock said, I do have to respect his willingness to talk on such an open platform like a podcast. I don’t think too many politicians would be willing to do that due to the high risk of being exposed for saying one wrong thing.
I tried my hardest to watch all this with an open mind, and I was almost sold until towards the end, when he said he only resigned when people he respected told him they couldn’t visit dying relatives. Which tells me he didn’t initially respect the general public who was all going through the same thing! 🤷🏼♂️ Great podcast as always though Steven! Incredible guest! Keep them coming! 👌🏼👏🏼

It's funny. He starts by saying politics is not based on nepotism that it's okay that the people who run the country are all from the same elite circle because they all have empathy. Then he closes by revealing he got hired for all his ministerial jobs based on who he knew and not because of his competence, that he hired Gina with our taxpayer money because she's someone he knew and the only reason he resigned is not because he had empathy for the public, but because people he personally knew and respected told him their stories of hardship. I wonder how many other policy decisions have come about only because people he personally knows are impacted and not because of what is beneficial for the British public as a whole??

I approached this podcast with a completely clear mind. Removing judgement and see if Mr Hancock can teach me anything about politics, which I usually have the usual eye rolling motions for. It really felt like personal PR. I admire Steven for adding this dimension to his guest list and I did get value from it. However, with guests like Mo Gawdat, Fern Cotton, Mary Portas, Matthew Syed, Johann Hari etc, etc - it does show the difference between great thinkers and those in Downing Street.
Johann Hari, James Smith, Mo Gawdat really made me reflect on my life ... Hancock just makes me want to vomit. He should be nowhere near a position to make big decisions like he was.

I'm a registered nurse of 20 years, one who was sacked, by the way, due to not wanting a forced jab, thanks to Matt Hancock's policy. I'm also a service user of the NHS. I don't think for one minute that Matt Hancock sits on a 2 year waiting list for the NHS, and definitely uses private healthcare. As a nurse, I would definitely want a doctor as health secretary rather than someone who knows nothing about healthcare. To be honest, anyone would have done a better job than him. It was his policy that forced people to die alone and denied their loved ones the ability to be with them, when they were at their most vulnerable and frightened. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth

The line of questioning around political nepotism/ lack of diversity in politics and expertise required within ministerial leadership - specifically in the areas of digital - echoed everything I consistently get frustrated at, as someone who works in leadership within the digital industry and as someone who came from a working class background and has had to make significant sacrifices to get to where I am now…without the help of friends/family in high places! Being human isn't his issue, I've never understood that term - what else would he be except human? His issue is lack of compassion, honesty and empathy whilst being in a role/position where people's lives were in his hand. Further, not just ANY group of people, his own family - six children too. I have sympathy because we all fall short, but I can see and hear that he is/was in a boys club and act/acted like it until he had to put his hands up!

when he asked how he managed the thoughts and how he slept at night knowing his decision during the day are life and death decisions. you could see on matts face that he never really thought about and he slept just fine

Watching Matt speak makes me realise just how far away we are from really communicating showing our true selves being vulnerable, open and honest in business. However a sense of duty for democracy especially in this current climate is essential. Thanks for sharing 🙏

I'd love to see a body language expert break this conversation down. Found this incredibly interesting. Was not, and probably still, am not a fan of Mr Hancock but I always appreciate listening to different perspectives. I think that's what garners progress and gets us closer to where we need to be.

I listened to this on my morning walk. I LOVE the weekly instalments of this podcast / youtube channel, in fact it forms an important part of my week. I binge listen to these chats. But for me, Matt is so guarded and his answers are exactly what you would expect from a politician. He opens saying he wants to be open but in reality that isn't what this is. LOVE Steven and will always listen, but this episode isn't the usual life-changing, earth shattering chats I look forward to.
Over the pandemic I have lost faith in journalism and the way they berate politicians and unable to listen. So refreshing to hear a fresh discussion with humanity

Great interview Steven. The part where you questioned Matt on the typical background of the political landscape and he mentions Rishi Sunak as an example. Yes son of a pharmacist (and GP) but he also went to Winchester College, an elite private school. He definitely did not come from a difficult background.
This guy is priceless! How he can sit there and say he ‘took responsibility’. He had no intention of doing anything until he got caught. He was well aware that people couldn’t visit dying relatives at the time he was knocking off his new bird. Matt Hancock is a monster and to top it off one of the worst health secretaries this country has seen.
I purposefully watched every second of this to give Hancock a final chance to change my opinion of him. And honestly, even tho I disagree with a lot of things he has done, I have a lot more respect for this man than I previously did. However hearing him have a normal conversation with a normal human did give me more respect for him. What he did to his family is inexcusable and overall I still think he is a twat. I thought I'd hate this, but I learned a lot from Steven's approach to interviewing someone that he doesn't fully agree with, connect on a deeper level with or feel fully inspired by in the way that he does his other guests. This must have been a difficult interview to conduct calmly, so hats off to you, Steven!

Fair play for Hancock to do the podcast. Personally I took this podcast with a huge pinch of salt as I think it felt like a PR stunt. I feel it is him probably trying to make amends for what he has done but also to help build his profile back up again, which I think the majority of people will feel is in the toilet. For me it was a good insight into the politics world especially through his political career and through COVID.
Fair play to Steven for having Hancock on. We need more diversity in these types of platforms. It’s pretty hard to warm to Hancock. Self-righteousness combined with so many glib responses on a life or death topic is not acceptable. Nor is having a totally inept and under qualified individual in the position of Health Secretary.
great podcast, incredible to listen to Hancock speak where he avoids any accountability and somehow seems to view himself as a hero. tried to listen without any prior prejudices but his inability to take responsibility and the way he treats the thousands who died as a simple statistic is genuinely baffling- not to mention his completely warped opinion on meritocracy and the idea that politics isn’t a rich boys club.

I wish all interviews were like this. It’s nice to feel as if I’m trusted to make my own mind up about someone, you get so much more out of someone when you let them speak! I get the interviews where the interviewer just wants a sound bite. I got a lot out of this.
Steven!!! Touché my friend touché. You did us proud in bringing this guy on, this is something close to my heart!! So we’ll done. Being part of the roll out of vaccine and at the frontline with patients dying every day and seeing the horrendous repercussions of Covid-19 I didn’t understand why the decisions from the politicians was so up in the air and changed constantly. We were told to do this that and the other at a drop of a hat. What they didn’t do is empathise with us. Steven, you really have gotten to the bottom of things and asked some really hard questions that got to the bottom of the mindset of Matt making decisions. Every person from ceo to doctor to cleaner didn’t know what was happening. No every two hours in the day were the same. And now we see why, in “hindsight” we would’ve don’t think differently and took leadership in our own hands. This talk made me empathise with Matt and making him a little more human than just a robot. I commend him and his player mentality in politics. Built up others, took responsibility for his actions.

I appreciate the broad complexities of this discussion and I think it was a great one to have. Opening up the channels of genuine communication plays a small part in the wider agenda that Steven and our generation is pushing for and I think he is doing so successfully.
Started watching this channel and love it. This is what interviews should be about … the person across the table. Matt Hancock comes across well because he’s given time to talk by a neutral interviewer. Contrast this to our so called journalists who constantly cram interview with too many questions, interrupt and leave the listeners with misrepresented summaries. This selfish approach is all about the journalist who search out angles, revelations and click bait to further their reputations and in doing so they pollute the minds of many. Well done Steven on your channel. It shows what can be achieved in the pursuit of truth. Journalists are the new estate agents !
as soon as I saw this I jumped straight to it. Do you know what, fair play to Matt. He puts he’s hands up. He’s human, he’s made mistakes, he’s admitted them, he’s trying to move on, hopefully everyone else can now too. Such a good interview!

I listened to this on podcast but I had to come over here to make a comment. I was in two minds if I wanted to listen to Matt Hancock but I did and I’m so glad I did. It was so interesting hearing his perspective and I can’t imagine how hard being health secretary during a pandemic would be. He’s human and just like us all - nobody can make the perfect decisions all the time - he did what he thought was best and obviously made some mistakes. I’m glad I gave him a chance today. Steven you did an amazing job! Loved your questions. I’m obsessed with this podcast/you tube. I w watched non stop all weekend. X
He mentioned Rishi Sunak when referencing some of the conservative members diverse backgrounds… didn’t mention his Dad was a well-paid GP & was privileged enough to attend independent school, to then go on to study the same course as Hancock at Oxford 😂
The effort you went into to make this happen and Matt Hancock chosing you as a platform to speak up is a testament to you and your team. Podcast is brilliant quality. However, I struggled with buying into it. Not sure whether it was the delivery or just a feeling of a media stunt to save himself. Who knows. There are 2 sides to every story and there is the truth....
Yes, I felt the cctv footage that went viral was staged - I'll have to watch this in full to see if the above is also a stunt. I agree that Steven is doing an incredible job, he's a true star.
I think it is very valuable for controversial people to come on podcasts and interviews like this as we get time with them and they allowed to speak. I listened to a shorter but similar interview with Dianne Abbott last year and both of these people, you realise, are real people with feelings and emotions. Its not about agreeing with everyone, but listening to people, especially when they take a different stance to you. As I've got older I have increasingly found I am frustrated with so many peoples' need to dislike a person just because they disagree with them.

I am not and never have been a Conservative voter. But this is the first time I've ever seen an interview with any tory MP (past or present) being human. How refreshing. I admire Matt Hancock for doing this. I wish all politicians were this 100% open and honest when in office.
I think the problem is that the media doesn't really give them a chance - it's all a "hustle" to fill a 3 minute segment. Journos ask "gotcha" type questions hoping for the politician to make a headline worthy blunder, politicians go on the defensive by repeatedly ducking the question and trotting out the PR office approved soundbite over and over again. Yawn. It's only on long format podcasts like this, with a respectful, level-headed and even handed interviewer that you start getting somewhere.
This podcast is exactly what podcasts should be about. The line of questioning a couldn’t be more perfect.. gives the guests room to give their points and say what they want to say, but also always playing devils advocate (or even just Stephens real views on the matter)
Matt Hancock is surely an interesting character to say the least, you can definitely tell he’s a politician. Well done Steven for asking genuine questions that the public would love to know the answer to as well, and for standing your ground. Great question at minute 13. Pharmacy, a difficult background!? That tells you a lot about his way of thinking. He obviously hasn't spent much time on council estates. And anyway, Sunak had the most privileged childhood imaginable, prep school, private school, boarding school. His father was a doctor and his mother didn't work in the pharmacy, she owned it. If that's Hancock's idea of a man of the people, God help us.
The horror my family went through in 2020, I watched my Father die in front of me. We couldn't go see him in hospital in the 3 months he deteriorated from cancer and he was in and out, sometimes for weeks at a time. Matt Hancock is, at the core, a hypocrite, a loser and will never garner any sympathy from me. I appreciate you bringing him on for differences in opinion, to get a wide range of viewpoints because that's always key in a democracy and personally, as a libertarian I believe we all have the right to our opinion and to speak freely to make informed decisions. However, this man is not someone I can ever warm to personally and I continue to harbour a large amount of disgust towards him. Will continue to watch diary of a CEO though, a valuable channel.
I never really cared for giving my time to this type of content, I generally Que what I like and listen without watching but one day this channel found its way onto my screen and captured my attention. Now I am hooked. I love, LUV how you engage and listen Steven. Your energy oozes from your silent presence which in my opinion helps your guests to deliver their authentic selves. Thank you, even difficult topics to listen to become soothing and palatable.

Really glad I ran into this interview, completely by chance. Well done Steven! Without a doubt this is one of the most insightful interviews of a current British politician. Like 2 normal people talking, not that crap we see always see on TV. Hancock is no Saint, he's a seriously dishonest and deceitful person. Yet you somehow got him speaking openly and humanly. I didn't realise these guys could be coaxed into communicating almost normally and non-defensively. I guess it starts with the dress code. Lowered his guard. He answered all the questions and especially the questions never once visited by the BBC and ITV. This is the information people always needed to hear. What an achievement 👏
Whilst my family couldn't visit my dying nan in a care home, Mr Hancock was breaking his own rules and kissing his mistress whilst cheating on his wife, the absolute cheek of the guy to ask, can you ask the question in a more respectful way shows a complete lack of remorse from him.

@@bristowezt9751 There is absolutely no hope, is there. Are you aware the Government's own report in April 2019 predicted up to 250k deaths directly and indirectly because of lockdown? The figure is presently less but increased poverty: financial, educational, timely medical care will easily absorb that figure in a ten year period. Added to that 'vaccine' failures, deaths (reported 2k) and injuries standing at over a million and Hancock (and Co) was responsible for a fair bit of trouble.

I think if you have done something wrong or questionable, an explanation goes a long way. But you haven't so I don't think you need to explain yourself (and it sounds a bit defensive to be honest). Different people bring different perspectives so I thought this was an interesting interview and you were an excellent interviewer. Even in these circumstances he didn't move me. I still think MH is disingenuous wasteman and the fact he had the audacity to speak to you about empathy ... Yeah 🤣

Steven , you are an incredibly gifted interviewer. You listen , you don’t interrupt and you ask intelligent , relevant questions. You have a rare gift in that you can draw people out without sounding intrusive.
As someone who lost my father to covid in the first wave, we were not able to visit dad as he lay dying. We stood outside his window and prayed. We continued to hope.
We got asked to send pictures of ourselves so they could place them around him and our names so they could say them to him. To let him know we cared.
We received the phone call to say he was not going to survive. That they had tried everything but it could not be enough. The pain of receiving that call 😓💔. The hospital went against what was allowed and let both me and my mum with him in his final moments whilst the rest of the family were outside knowing he was about to pass. Emily, an incredible nurse who had cared for dad with so much love for those two weeks sobbed. Devastated alongside us.
Once he had died and because we had been into ICU, we would now have to self isolate for 14 days away from the family. No hugs from anyone because we had the privilege of being with him when he died. This is something we know is an absolute privilege because tens of thousands of families were unable to. Tens of thousands of people died alone.
The funeral was a graveside burial with only 8 of us there.
The pain of hearing Hancock’s voice. Of showing barely any remorse. For showing little ‘empathy,’ the thing he astonishingly thinks he has. Of his blind loyalty to a Prime Minister who has laughed in the face of every single person who sacrificed for the greater good.
Thank you for interviewing him and letting him expose himself as the odious, self-obsessed, shallow little man he is. The pain he caused through his bad decision making alongside the government to so many of us is unparalleled. Even ‘ in hindsight’ you continued to give yourself a clap on the back.

I’m really sorry to read of the loss of your dad. I am seething with you watching this, I need him to understand how despised he is, how pathetic his rebrand is and if he could kindly go hide in a shed forever even for the sake of his kids let alone the rest of the hurt he’s inflicted.
Sarah, I am so sorry. I also lost my father, quite suddenly it was within a short period of time in 2020 when he got diagnosed with cancer. From March 2020 to June 2020 he was in and out of hospital, sometimes for weeks at a time and we lost so many valuable moments with him in his last few months. Matt Hancock was a the poster boy for me not being able to see my Dad and then to find out he was out there doing whatever he liked, although I wasn't totally surprised, it still felt like a knife in my stomach. He's a vile human being and deserves no sympathy, I'm glad he was on the podcast if for no other reason than to expose himself for the pathetic person he clearly is. Once again, very sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. We will be holding a celebration of life for my Dad some time this year, since the funeral was so small. Although it's not the same it could be a way to help to remember your Dad's life and reconnect with those friends and others who loved him. Lots of love to you and your family.

One of the reasons this podcast is so great is because of Steven’s willingness to have discussions with a wide variety of people. You don’t have to agree with all opinions of the guest, or even like them, to learn something new from the conversation.
I’ve never really understood the mindset of politicians (as politics is something I don’t personally enjoy) but this episode is helping me gain more insight into how a politician thinks and needs to process/balance difficult decisions.
Although I don’t agree with much of what Matt Hancock said, I do have to respect his willingness to talk on such an open platform like a podcast. I don’t think too many politicians would be willing to do that due to the high risk of being exposed for saying one wrong thing.
Also love how you kept the bit in about casual sex when Hancock kept asking to start that bit again.

I tried my hardest to watch all this with an open mind, and I was almost sold until towards the end, when he said he only resigned when people he respected told him they couldn’t visit dying relatives. Which tells me he didn’t initially respect the general public who was all going through the same thing! 🤷🏼♂️

It's funny. He starts by saying politics is not based on nepotism that it's okay that the people who run the country are all from the same elite circle because they all have empathy. Then he closes by revealing he got hired for all his ministerial jobs based on who he knew and not because of his competence, that he hired Gina with our taxpayer money because she's someone he knew and the only reason he resigned is not because he had empathy for the public, but because people he personally knew and respected told him their stories of hardship.
I wonder how many other policy decisions have come about only because people he personally knows are impacted and not because of what is beneficial for the British public as a whole??

I approached this podcast with a completely clear mind. Removing judgement and see if Mr Hancock can teach me anything about politics, which I usually have the usual eye rolling motions for. It really felt like personal PR. I admire Steven for adding this dimension to his guest list and I did get value from it. However, with guests like Mo Gawdat, Fern Cotton, Mary Portas, Matthew Syed, Johann Hari etc, etc - it does show the difference between great thinkers and those in Downing Street.
Johann Hari, James Smith, Mo Gawdat really made me reflect on my life ... Hancock just makes me want to vomit. He should be nowhere near a position to make big decisions like he was.

I'm a registered nurse of 20 years, one who was sacked, by the way, due to not wanting a forced jab, thanks to Matt Hancock's policy. I'm also a service user of the NHS. I don't think for one minute that Matt Hancock sits on a 2 year waiting list for the NHS, and definitely uses private healthcare. As a nurse, I would definitely want a doctor as health secretary rather than someone who knows nothing about healthcare. To be honest, anyone would have done a better job than him. It was his policy that forced people to die alone and denied their loved ones the ability to be with them, when they were at their most vulnerable and frightened. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth

The line of questioning around political nepotism/ lack of diversity in politics and expertise required within ministerial leadership - specifically in the areas of digital - echoed everything I consistently get frustrated at, as someone who works in leadership within the digital industry and as someone who came from a working class background and has had to make significant sacrifices to get to where I am now…without the help of friends/family in high places! Thank you for always asking the tough questions and representing 👏.

Most humans would have difficulty walking out on their six children publicly because they "fell in love".
Being human isn't his issue, I've never understood that term - what else would he be except human?
His issue is lack of compassion, honesty and empathy whilst being in a role/position where people's lives were in his hand. Further, not just ANY group of people, his own family - six children too.
I have sympathy because we all fall short, but I can see and hear that he is/was in a boys club and act/acted like it until he had to put his hands up!

Found this incredibly interesting. Was not, and probably still, am not a fan of Mr Hancock but I always appreciate listening to different perspectives. I think that's what garners progress and gets us closer to where we need to be.

Great interview Steven. The part where you questioned Matt on the typical background of the political landscape and he mentions Rishi Sunak as an example. Yes son of a pharmacist (and GP) but he also went to Winchester College, an elite private school. He definitely did not come from a difficult background.

He was well aware that people couldn’t visit dying relatives at the time he was knocking off his new bird. Fair play for Hancock to do the podcast. Personally I took this podcast with a huge pinch of salt as I think it felt like a PR stunt. I feel it is him probably trying to make amends for what he has done but also to help build his profile back up again, which I think the majority of people will feel is in the toilet. For me it was a good insight into the politics world especially through his political career and through COVID.

Being part of the roll out of vaccine and at the frontline with patients dying every day and seeing the horrendous repercussions of Covid-19 I didn’t understand why the decisions from the politicians was so up in the air and changed constantly. We were told to do this that and the other at a drop of a hat. What they didn’t do is empathise with us.
Steven, you really have gotten to the bottom of things and asked some really hard questions that got to the bottom of the mindset of Matt making decisions. Every person from ceo to doctor to cleaner didn’t know what was happening. No every two hours in the day were the same.
And now we see why, in “hindsight” we would’ve don’t think differently and took leadership in our own hands.
This talk made me empathise with Matt and making him a little more human than just a robot.
I commend him and his player mentality in politics. Built up others, took responsibility for his actions.

This selfish approach is all about the journalist who search out angles, revelations and click bait to further their reputations and in doing so they pollute the minds of many. It was so interesting hearing his perspective and I can’t imagine how hard being health secretary during a pandemic would be. He’s human and just like us all - nobody can make the perfect decisions all the time - he did what he thought was best and obviously made some mistakes. I’m glad I gave him a chance today. I also got diagnosed as dyslexic at uni, prior to that I thought I was just stupid, tnx for shining a light on it.
I think it is very valuable for controversial people to come on podcasts and interviews like this as we get time with them and they allowed to speak. I listened to a shorter but similar interview with Dianne Abbott last year and both of these people, you realise, are real people with feelings and emotions. Its not about agreeing with everyone, but listening to people, especially when they take a different stance to you. As I've got older I have increasingly found I am frustrated with so many peoples' need to dislike a person just because they disagree with them.

I am not and never have been a Conservative voter. But this is the first time I've ever seen an interview with any tory MP (past or present) being human. How refreshing. I admire Matt Hancock for doing this. I wish all politicians were this 100% open and honest when in office.
I think the problem is that the media doesn't really give them a chance - it's all a "hustle" to fill a 3 minute segment. Journos ask "gotcha" type questions hoping for the politician to make a headline worthy blunder, politicians go on the defensive by repeatedly ducking the question and trotting out the PR office approved soundbite over and over again. Yawn. It's only on long format podcasts like this, with a respectful, level-headed and even handed interviewer that you start getting somewhere.
This podcast is exactly what podcasts should be about. The line of questioning a couldn’t be more perfect.. gives the guests room to give their points and say what they want to say, but also always playing devils advocate (or even just Stephens real views on the matter)
Matt Hancock is surely an interesting character to say the least, you can definitely tell he’s a politician. The horror my family went through in 2020, I watched my Father die in front of me. We couldn't go see him in hospital in the 3 months he deteriorated from cancer and he was in and out, sometimes for weeks at a time. Matt Hancock is, at the core, a hypocrite, a loser and will never garner any sympathy from me. I appreciate you bringing him on for differences in opinion, to get a wide range of viewpoints because that's always key in a democracy and personally, as a libertarian I believe we all have the right to our opinion and to speak freely to make informed decisions. However, this man is not someone I can ever warm to personally and I continue to harbour a large amount of disgust towards him. Will continue to watch diary of a CEO though, a valuable channel.

Really glad I ran into this interview, completely by chance. Well done Steven! Without a doubt this is one of the most insightful interviews of a current British politician. Like 2 normal people talking, not that crap we see always see on TV. Hancock is no Saint, he's a seriously dishonest and deceitful person. Yet you somehow got him speaking openly and humanly. I didn't realise these guys could be coaxed into communicating almost normally and non-defensively. I guess it starts with the dress code. Lowered his guard. The figure is presently less but increased poverty: financial, educational, timely medical care will easily absorb that figure in a ten year period. Added to that 'vaccine' failures, deaths (reported 2k) and injuries standing at over a million and Hancock (and Co) was responsible for a fair bit of trouble.
