    I tip my hat to you. I double-majored in undergrad while working six hours a day, five days a week, in a corporate job to gain experience and on the weekends worked for a car rental company re-positioning cars across the State. All that just to afford going to school. I completed undergrad in 4.5 years. I then landed a job in Chicago for one of the world´s most prominent consulting firms, working 10-12 hours a day, traveling the world for projects while working on my MBA. Not only was I the first person in our family to attend college, but I went from barely scraping by in high school to having a combined GPA of 3.57 in undergrad. I was the grandson of a bus driver, and the son of a career military man who has since worked/lived in six countries across Europe and Asia for my job.

    If you work a normal factory job, you know he’s telling the 100% truth. The turnover at these jobs are off the charts. That’s why it kills me when people say “I can’t find a job.” Because I know every factory in town has, or will have, openings every couple weeks because 3/4 of new hires won’t last longer than a couple months. The truth is, young people think they “deserve” a job in air conditioning with no actual labor involved with triple the minimum wage for new hires. The real world doesn’t work that way. Some people expect it to work that way and walk around behaving like it does. But it doesn’t. If you’re not a professional that spent money at a school and did well enough to get a specialized career, or know a trade, you’re going to make your living in factories and labor work. And there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s what the vast majority of people do. The problem is our government has made it where those jobs don’t pay for what they used to pay for, but you can live a decent life if you’re expectations aren’t brand new luxury cars and top of the line everything at all times. Life is more than possessions.

      Agree, I do the same. I fix stuff for a living. I do building maintenance. They throw at me all the OT I can handle. I own a Hyundai accent and a Chevy Express van. My accent has no great stuff in it. I have roll-up windows and a stick shift. However, less thrills and less maintenance. Buy smart, not wasteful. It is a car. Cars get one from point A to point B. I am not trying to keep up with the Joneses.
      People nowadays think they are entitled. They vote for Bidenomics. And there you go.

    ive always said you need to work your job right. it doesnt matter if your job sucks, if it barely pays, if youre feeling bad, doesnt matter.
    show up on time, follow the instructions to the letter, and keep it up the entire shift.
    i work retail, in a grocery store, yeah it sucks. but i do my job right and my managers notice and comment all the time on how they want ten copies of me. im already starting on a path to train and promote to a management, salaried position after just a year.
    if you dont want to do you job, find a new one. dont stay there, collecting someone else's money, and not doing what youre supposed to do to earn it. you make no friends and earn no favors that way.

    • @peoswriter1
      @peoswriter1 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's pretty solid advice. I used to manage a little strip mall sandwich place and most of my employees were first time workers in high school. I told them that I knew that none of them were likely to say that sandwich making is what they wanted to do with their lives, but I wanted to make sure that when they decided to leave they would be ready to get higher paying jobs at any restaurant in town. And it worked. We had a killer team and our customer service was second to none. Those guys that really put their all into it became supervisors and shift leads and a lot of them chose to stay.
      I guess I just want to echo some of your ideas and remind people that they have some say in how crappy a job is (everybody dragging their feet, doing bad work, and feeling miserable is a bad time for everybody) -- especially if they're in a leadership role. Every job can equip you for something better if you look for the lessons -- including what not to do. I was a good manager because I paid attention to what my previous managers did right and what they did wrong, and it made a world of difference. Plus, there's something to be said about doing a good job and earning some self-respect rather than getting down on yourself for having a bad job and learning nothing.

    • @davidm.schreckii1426
      @davidm.schreckii1426 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man I wish I had your managers, any and all jobs I ever had, no matter how hard I work and believe me, I do more than most of my coworkers, usually always have and still never get noticed, no better hours and no better pay. Only reason I make $16 an hour is cuz my job's min wage went up to $15 so not a huge increase, I am 37, a wife and two kids and that still not enough to make any of my managers f'ing care, so what did I do in the last couple months stopped working so hard cuz it never seemed to matter for me, glad for you though at least it works for some

    • @peoswriter1
      @peoswriter1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidm.schreckii1426 Yeah, I get that. One very common elements of bad managers is spending all their attention on the problem workers and taking their A-listers for granted, which sometimes even turns into the bad workers getting preferential treatment (to keep them from leaving) and the rest getting a hard time.
      My best tip would be to try to look at the situation from your manager's perspective. Your financial situation has ZERO bearing on their situation UNLESS they know that the pay might make you leave, AND you've done a good enough job that they can't afford to lose you.
      It's like the reverse of being at a car dealership. If there's no concern that you're going to walk out, they have no reason to lower their price. Do you mind me asking where you work?

    Thanks for this video. I think allot of people do not know JD Vance, and he is a fascinating man. Trump didn’t pick the normal insider in DC for his VP. Instead he chose someone who is an outsider, not spoiled by DC, a man who understands what many Americans are dealing with on a daily basis. He is literally a common man who worked hard to get where he is, a person who is a living representation of the American Dream. His life shows if you work hard and don’t give up you can reach your goals.

    My parents got me a job babysitting when I was 11. Then paper route, then fast food, then cashier, then customer service, now I have a government job. I think the longest I've been out of work was for a year because well I couldn't control a global pandemic so there was that. And that was only because my doctor freaked out due to my multiple health problems and took me out of work.
    Yes I have multiple health problems and manage to work a full time job and pick up overtime.
    Spoiler, if you're retired or on disability it disqualifies you for a ton of government assistance programs because we can look up and verify your income, the income to qualify for Medicaid or food stamps is super low, especially for a single adult.
    If you received Medicare benefits, yeah just forget it unless your income is around $943 a month or less. That's the current income threshold to qualify for Medicaid if you're disabled or elderly and on Medicare.
    Don't believe me, ask your local government benefits office.

    You should not assume people that did not graduate high school will automatically grow up to be poor, my step father grew up in very conservative religion that did not believe in higher education, he dropped out of high school (not his choice) when he was 15 years old, moved half way across the country, and started working as a farm to market truck driver in Kansas and Colorado when he was 17 in the late 1940's. He went on to start his own produce, and wholesale food business which eventually grew to having over 70 employees, at one point operated over a dozen delivery trucks out of two warehouses, the larger of which was over 35,000 sq ft of floor space, and was a co-owner in other businesses including a local Chevrolet dealership in the 1980's

      Same here. Divorced when I was 28 with 3 kids (living in poverty in that marriage). Had to get my GED then went to college for RN. I qualified for some assistance because I was a “displaced homemaker”, but I also had to get student loans. I didn’t want my children growing up in poverty. I remarried and had another child. Right before she graduated high school, I developed autoimmune issues that affected my muscles and tendons so now I’m disabled. But I accomplished what I set out to do and my children are doing just fine now.

    I get the common stupid talking points you hear about of can't do this or that bc Gov is racist this or does that. But there are plenty of issues out there were people are held back either financially, racially, or in my case medically. It also depends on where you live like the culture surrounding you. Some people flat out just refuse to hire a certain race or hire spesific race. People growing up in poor families that won't be able to appear as desired as a silver spoon child. As I mentioned medically like me, the physical problem I have to deal with would have been treated decades ago. Now healthcare wants to play Frankenstein regardless of reality but people who actually need medical help are denied. I won't say I was perfect like atlas. But I was the guy you called always needing help. Lost plenty of sleep like this. Always the guy that if someone was sick at work I could be called. Now I've got a broken back. It constantly tortures me. Got like 20 plus doctors. Could say like 100 plus hospital visits do to pain. I'm still alive but my research easily indicates others in my kind of position are part of the increased drug use do to Gov making healthcare worse. Others have been part of the increased suicide. Again bc Gov destroyed healthcare.
