That is really a good point. At 63, I can feel the difference between Biden and Trump as President. A college kid - is just now about to wake up (in five years or so) that politics is actually a thing that affects their lives. Right now, they are still just accepting of what is in their books and told to them in class. When I was 14, 15, 16.... I would look at the biology textbook pictures of a monkey, followed by a little taller monkey, followed by several non-existent man-apes, lastly followed by humans... and believe that it must all be backed up by real science, and fact.

So what Trump did people don't understand for the economy. He did 4 separate things. Increase massively tariffs on foreign goods, restrict bordering crossings, added a tax cut for all but mostly for middle class, and cut out a ton of regulations that were creating barriers of entry to many local goods and services. Tariff increases for example on their own are very bad for the short term. Why? In our economy, people rely on foreign goods because they are cheaper. If tariffs increase the cost of those goods, it hurts the pockets of the middle and lower class if that is the only measure taken. When combined with reduced taxes and regulation, the increased cost of goods is offset because people have more to spend from reduced taxes. Then we get to see something good long term happen. When foreign goods cost as much or more than local goods then people start buying local goods. Which adds more into the pockets of those in the local economy instead of draining it overseas. Then people get invested in making more here and that in turn brings more jobs and brings innovation to further reduce the cost of goods.
Also, we don't have to accept Asylum seekers. We can accept them if there is an actual warranted need because there is an actual reason to accept them, and they couldn't get relief from a nearby country first. So Asylum seekers from Honduras or other places, should seek the nearest country they won't be oppressed in. They come here not for asylum, but for economical reasons. Asylum is for who are being oppressed violently by their government/country. Refugees are those displaced by war. 99% of those coming to our border are in neither category.

Well said. As for regulations, a lot of ppl think they're good. They don't understand that they're a barrier for small businesses, not big businesses. This was an article that came out from ya-hoonews and the hill in 2021. There are several more like it. Even the NY times ran a recent article showing how much the Trump tax cuts fueled investment that helped the middle class more than the rich. Only Left "think tanks" that seem to pull conjecture from their backsides make any sort of claims that the tax cuts didn't benefit the middle class. In a day an age when both sides are trying to fudge the numbers to make themselves look good and the other side bad, I am more likely going to trust to data analysis on this coming from the IRS over a Lefty think tank organization.

    This is the problem.
The platforms and policy statements are publicly available, but nobody, it seems wants to actually read them.
Obviously, the young man in that video has no idea what the policies and practices are, and have been.
When looking at the respective policies, and comparing the actual actions of a politician or party, the disparities could not be more clear.
@LFRJojo, I can't begin to tell you how encouraged I am that young people (I'm 68) are beginning to question what mainstream general public keeps telling them to believe.
    Keep it up!
    God Bless.

College students wear whatever. I met a girl wearing a USMC shirt and since I was a vet I asked her what she did. She stared at me with a blank look, and I said "your sweatshirt, USMC, where were you?" She said I have no idea what you are talking about. I dont know what this means." so I said "University of Science Music and Culture. I just finished my 4 year there" and walked away.

On the comment about “They can’t get Social Security Numbers so the can’t work certain jobs.”, a liberal, that I otherwise deeply respect, actually responded to this issue, in complete seriousness, by saying “But they use stolen SSNs, from dead people, to get jobs and consequently do pay taxes so you should ok with that.” Followed up by an additional rationale that they wouldn’t be able to collect any of their Social Security benefits because they are illegal and they are stolen SSNs. So therefore illegal immigrants are a net positive for the economy.
First time I heard this, from someone I had respected my whole live, I was just flabbergasted that we he would be in favor of the sort of second class citizen status rational. Especially because the whole reason he claimed he was a Democrat was because he cared about people and “Republicans didn’t care about people.”

I think a large part of the reason college students tend to get so thoroughly shut down in things like this argument is because they tend to go into it trying to attack the other persons opinions instead of trying understand the other persons position. It's this idea of I'm right and I'm going to be the one to prove your wrong. When you set yourself up with such a inflexible approach to a debate your setting yourself up to look like a fool when your position can't flex to match reality.

If you didn’t catch it, the student tries to counter Kirk’s point about Trump’s great economy with, “That was actually Obama.”
This is an argument that I have heard countless times from leftists in an attempt to brush aside Trump’s amazing economic record. It’s essentially saying, “the good economy was all because of Obama and Trump just took credit for it.” First off, not a single one of them can tell you exactly what policy it was of Obama’s that spurred massive economic growth. Second, not a single one of them can explain that, if that was true, why did it take 9 years for his policies to kick in?
And the second, with the whole, “Trump is Putin’s puppet.”, they can’t point to one single thing that Trump did in his four years that benefited Russia. The reason Putin met with Trump was after Putin started his saber rattling in the Donbass region of Ukraine in the spring of 17’ by having his Ukrainian proxies attack Ukrainian positions while being propped up with Russian armor. Trump was the only NATO leader to send Ukraine javelin missiles to counter the attacks, which resulted in dozens of Russian tanks smoked. Putin never caused any trouble after that until Trump was gone.

"College students should be hard to debate."
    *TRUTH.*
Yet it seems like they go to those indoctrination centers and come out _dumber_ for it. My oldest is doing dual credit in high school, but I'm concerned about even _sending_ her to a college. She's based enough that I think she could overcome the attempts at indoctrination, but even putting that aside, I question whether she'd actually _learn_ anything there, let along anything that would allow her to become self-sufficient as a human being. She'd probably have more success taking courses through SkillShare or watching TH-cam/Rumble vids. It's not like she's planning to become a doctor or a lawyer, after all. Why waste all that money just for her to get a business or accounting degree, then get married and be a SAHM? lol

I live in Detroit. I own my property. I like my property and I ain't leavin'. Democrats killed my neighborhood. I still like my neighborhood. I'm blessed with great neighbors. I'm also a single white geezer with no dependants other than a couple giant, horse-like dogs. You couldn't raise a family here. Anybody who tries, leaves. As fast as they can. It's sad cause I've lived here all of my life. 30, 40 years ago this was a completely different neighborhood. People owned their homes
. There were lots of businesses open and running. Lots of jobs. Now, boarded up buildings, abandoned homes and shitty rental properties. I don't blame anyone for wantin' to get the hell out of here. I've watched this happen in real time. I wish I could speak more about this but it the fault of Democrats. Republicans to though cause they don't run here. Either way we have no representation in our current government.

Also there is a difference between asylum and immigration. To claim asylum you must meet very strict criteria which does NOT include your country of origin simply being inferior to the United States or being third world. Also you must claim asylum at the border at the first country whose border you cross. You cannot pass through three countries, including Mexico, to then claim asylum in the US.

Yes. That’s what I don’t get about trump haters “they don’t like him he’s mean”. Look he’s not your friend your aren’t going to have lunch or grab a beer together it’s what he does for country and how he gets us respect on world stage and if that’s fear based so be it lots of our enemies only respect power fear strength not statesmanship they want to know what will we do if they attack us with trump he made it perfectly clear what would happen and it wasn’t war it was personal he’d go after the leader period or generals pushing for attack against us he’s rough gruff and not politically correct and that’s good plus he wants everyone to pay their own way and if we are world police then pay us for it. He doesn’t want us to always foot the bill for the world and that’s a good thing but don’t vote for how you feel about him he’s not gonna be your buddy. Hell you will probably never meet him ever but if he does what’s needed for citizens and country that’s all that’s required
