My understanding of the GBRS is that the inner belt is meant to be run with either the cover EDC style outer belt or battle belt. I don’t believe it was intended to be run by itself. According to GBRS the reasoning for having the loop on the outer belt is so that it doesn’t dig into your skin through clothes during prolonged use.
@@CQBFPV Their decision was a strictly business decision based on future profitability. They know that the loop side wears out much quicker than the hook side. This way, when it wears out, you can go buy another $250 outer belt, instead of a $30 inner belt.
I don’t like that the outer belt is loop because in my experience with gloves the loop Valcro always gets messed up first. Unless the company will replace the outer belt for free I rather replace the cheaper inner belt then the more expensive outer belt.
A lot of comments about the hook vs loop on the main belt. There are reasons for both, besides the legal issues mentioned (I don’t know anything about that and don’t care). I prefer loop on my outer belt because it gave me the flexibility to throw on my gun belt when serving warrants or responding on short notice to a high threat scene as a detective without destroying my clothing. I have two Volund Gearworks V3 Micro Battle Belts (that’s a mouthful) and love them. Volund lets you choose hook or loop. Very interested in both the FC and GBRS, but belts are getting pricey!
The D-ring is rated, but the belt itself isn’t load rated. For rapelling the entire system would need to be load rated. That said, the tubular nylon should be plenty stong for fall arrest and rapelling.

Type 13 flat webbing has a tensile strength of 7,000 lbs. and this belt uses 2 layers of it. that"s a combined 14,000 lbs. the buckle is made by Austrialpin with a rating of 18kN/4,000 MBS and a D ring with a rating of 22kN/5,000 MBS. these ratings far exceed ANSI, EN, UIAA and NFPA fall protection standards and MIL-W-4088/27265 for military applications.
The GBRS is interesting, but hard to justify at that price. It’s great to see more modular products but at the end of the day how often are you going to put those extra features to use?
Exactly and after taking a look through Ferro concepts stuff they have a separate conceal carry belt you can purchase for 80.00 which will do the same job as the gbrs. It doesn’t have hook Velcro but if added it would do the job
I have both I prefer the GBRS I’m not personally a fan of the thin webbing at the front on the bison when it comes to tightening it feels like wasted space if there’s a TQ or anything you want to carry centerline.and even tho mounting is a tad more difficult on the GBRS it feels more secure the sewing of the Mille on ferro is a bit loose and leaves too much play when mounting pouches IMO. Both great just my thoughts

Bison belt also has two columns of vertical stitching towards the buckle but the GBRS has vertical stitching across the entire belt leading to a compromised Tegris. Also has less Tegris/non circular (less strength) The GBRS Group also has a really obnoxious huge buckle that is uncomfortable as well as the belt being thinner which is not a good thing. Bison is superior IMO.
I have been wearing one as a duty belt since they went on the market. I will be a testament to it's quality, construction and function. The draw back I see is the three-belt system on the GBRS. The inner belt has the hook portion in it, constantly putting it on and off wears the belt's loops significantly over time. I have very rarely used the mid belt for any purpose, as a matter of fact, don't even know where it's at. Also with the hook being backward to the usual industry buying accessories that work between the two belts is nonexistent.
Here's the inside intel on this: GBRS worked with FC and used their belt / carriers until they had a split. GBRS decided to start selling gear, too so they teamed up w/London Bridge Trading (VaBch) to make a belt. They had to do something different in order to not have an intellectual property lawsuit filed against them...so...they cut their belt in square Tegris vs circles...and they reversed the hook/loop and claimed it was because "long humps in the mountains" were the reason. That's just marketing BS to get people to buy their belt. The belts are the same. GBRS is just having to add a third belt BECAUSE they switched the hook/loop (for no tactical reason...but for a legal reason). They added the 3rd belt because their "new design" scraped the shit out of testers. It all boils down to SEALs out of the military doing exactly what SEALs out of the military do...they angle, steal ideas and go cut-throat to make money. Shameful. Watch...GBRS will start making plate carriers soon and they'll oddly be similar to Ferro's. Sad BS...but that's the real truth behind this "belt" mess.
I have actually heard the same story from about 5 or 6 reputable sources in the industry. They all have said relatively the same thing. It’s unfortunate that the industry has a lot of this going on right now

It's been cut-throat ever since guys figured out they could make money advertising themselves and making people look up to them, what they wore (think cargo pants and tan crap back then) and what they used (think today about how GBRS helped make Ferro's brand in their videos). Its a simple formula - greed. The love of money is the root, as the Bible says. GBRS guys are out of the military, have bills to pay and saw someone with a good idea (Ferro) and decided to take it. Erik Prince did the same thing to Al Clark (the real brains behind Blackwater Training) then he did it again to Jamie Smith (the guy behind the idea for Blackwater Security). It's greedy BS and SEALs are the best at capitalizing on that for some reason. Sad.

Yeah I've had my ronin belt for almost 4 years now, bought the more narrow inner belt so it's easier for surveillance when I'm wearing regular pants in case I need it. The outer belt is still in great shape
Anyone care that Axl Advanced manufactures for both Ferro Concepts and GBRS (through LBT)? Maybe there’s bad blood but but both companies also have the exact same manufacturer
Nice review. The Velcro setup on the GBRS is a big negative for me. I wouldn’t say that it’s even personal preference, it’s just flat out bad to have your clothes/gear catching on Velcro. I’m sure the legal reasons for GBRS was more of a deciding factor than anything

Paying an extra hundred bucks isnt going to make you a Devgru operator, which is their biggest selling point to be honest. Many of their customers are just dudes that enjoy shooting and are currently having a mid life crisis because of missing out on GWOT. Merch is top notch though, but paying for over price gear is shameful, but if some idiots will buy it, someone will sell it.

Sure, some chose not to join the military or law enforcement. However, there's a large number of people that couldn't join because of an array of disqualifying factors. You should not be so quick to cast judgment and hate on them. At least they are here on the channel to learn, gain perspective, and understanding of the products on the market. I would hope history doesn't repeat itself, but if it does, at least they are taking advantage of their second amendment rights, and I commend them for pursuing their freedoms, purchasing quality gear, and not buying cheap equipment that could inhibit them. I haven’t had issues with either I’ve ran both. The 500 might wear a little faster with really aggressive use but I still have 500 and 1000d gear that I bough almost 5 years ago that’s still holding strong

the “D” ring is safety rated for climbing/rappelling. the only thing lacking are leg loops which could be purchased separately.

My dad is running this belt as a daily low pro duty belt as a fed and he’s having the same issues. Operationally he preferred the AWS I gave him
