Not a fan of the “don’t tell me what to do” and “I’m never wrong” attitude of umpires.
The rules allow that due to “no arguing” statutes.
Which, let’s be honest here, is the mindset of literally at least 95% of umpires. I seriously cannot wait until human umpires are a thing of the past.
Don’t like it don’t play easy
It has to be that way. Right or wrong, the game must go on.
The only real penalty for umpires like this is that they don't get to work during the post season, which to me feels like its not really a punishment.
This whole game was an ump show, terrible strike calls on both sides and bad on field calls
Still entertaining as hell
One pitch the strike zone is the size of Andre the Giant, the next pitch it’s an Umpa Lumpa’s zone.
Bring in the robots
whole series, theres not a single competent ump on that damn crew
At least they were consistently bad.
I was at this game last night. The umps were absolute garbage the entire game for both teams.
@redroninx289, at least they were consistently bad. LOL
@@markanderson7833 It was peak ump show. Angel Hernandez would be proud
Angel Hernandez gave notes too these umps
Just when you thought the umps couldn’t get any worse than Monday nights game, here came Tuesday night’s umpiring catastrophe. It clearly top it. The MLB will do nothing to the umps but will gladly fine the players and managers for saying the truth about how bad the umps are. Nothing will change.
What a stupid sport where you get thrown out for proving the umpire wrong. Really think about that.
Football is the same way bud
@@MBLA859and?
@@MBLA859 cool, and hockey is the exact opposite. Players argue with officials all the time, yet players cannot be ejected for arguing a call. The only way you can get ejected in a hockey game is by doing something dangerous. Sucker punches, high cross checks, elbows, knee-on-knee hits, slewfoots, headshots, charging, boarding, some slashes, spearing, interference, hell someone got ejected for getting in a fight while there was tape on their hands. Players can get penalties for disrespecting the official, but it's a 10-minute penalty that doesn't result in an ejection or powerplay. And generally that only happens if the player says something really egregious, because again arguing happens all the damn time.
@@agreen182 that’s nearly every sport that exists, just saying
@davidbondy2250 there. A complete misting smoking there, when you cant rven g8th Iyouvcat error it
There was also the previous inning, when Josh Hader was called out of the bullpen and proceeds to get an automatic ball due to a pitch clock violation. After a crew chief review that took 5 minutes, Hader, who's arm was now iced to the delay, threw a wild pitch that allowed the Padres to tie the game.
Mind you, the umpire exit is right next to the Away Bench in San Diego, so I bet Blue heard some more after the game...
As deserved.
This is literally umpire’s worst day because of not calling Altuve’s foul ball wasn’t called and Profar hit was called a walk, although it miss him barely. Proof that the umpire would kick out anyone who is correcting him.
Then don't show umpires up.
Pretty simple. THEY are in charge.
@@F40PH-2CAT bad umpires should be fired but aren't. when a player isn't mlb caliber anymore they can't get an mlb job.
@@F40PH-2CAT in some countries they would be in danger for being dumb and making bad calls...
@@tommyfu9271 It's a union. They can't be fired. That's why Angel Hernandez was an umpire for so long despite his horrible calls.
@@ahalfsesameseedbun7472 unfortunately you're correct.
0:15 Geez aside from the Great Wall of China, I'd say that one guy's shoes and sleeves are the only other manmade object visible from space.
Don’t forget the 8 minute delay because the umpires needed a rule check on what a disengagement is 😂
Just like that Full House scene where Uncle Jesse argues with the umpire over his niece saying "she was safe by a mile!" and Danny (who was the manager for Stephanie's team) said, "I saw her Jess, she was out."
Title implies both teams hated one single call. Not two like is shown here.
They both hated the second call, the first was just extra context for why us Astros fans hated the second even more.
Nah, I dont know why he didn't show Profar yelling at the umpire after the last play. He was furious, didn't even take 1B until the HBP was confirmed.
I agree this video title was mis leading.
@@anthonylombardo1261 100%. So I click "Do not recommend channel" every time.
@@anthonylombardo1261no it wasn’t. You mislead yourself. The first is context, the second is the actual call.
Umpires now are a complete embarrassment, wouldn't see this happen 20 years ago. MLB needs to do something about it now.
'That's my boy' - Angel Hernandez
that home plate ump is trash, needa go back to the minor to get some seasoning
I was once at a minor league game, Staten Island Yankees at Brooklyn Cyclones.
Yankees player hits an obvious deep foul ball. Left the building, but was foul.
My seat was directly in line with the 3rd base line, I was looking straight down it.
I could see the Yankees bullpen back away from the fence.
Everyone in the ballpark knew it was a foul ball.
...except the home plate ump who called it a home run.
the call was SO bad... even the Yankees fans were giving the man a hard time. Every time someone swung at the plate, calls of "You gonna call that a home run, two?" rang out.
Again, these were people who team was just awarded runs and went on to win that game, mocking the umpire because he was THAT bad.
I’m honestly shocked that both teams kept playing. It would’ve been a powerful message to the MLB and the Umps of the teams just quit the game and told the fans why.
umps were doing everything they could to help the Padres win and we still blew it.
What’s the point of a replay review if you still can’t get it right? And, why is ANY play non-reviewable?
In regards to your second question, because the games would be 6 hours long.
Angel Hernandez would be proud LMFAO
Either proud, or scratching his head, trying to figure out what everyone was complaining about.😂
Nah even when it benefits u, sometimes it’s so ridiculous that u just kinda let out ur frustrations subconsciously
Referees and officials have too much authority and too little oversight
MLB needs a rule where when both teams agree, the umpire can be thrown out of a game.
From a sentiment point I agree. From a practical point it’s not feasible because then every game would need a backup ump who would be doing nothing for 99% of the entire MLB season
A suspension or something might be better
@@blackmamba1261 It might be feasible, because then maybe umpires would decide to not suck. Problem solved.
@@ronm3245 Most umpires are pretty good, just the bad ones attract a lot of attention and media. And that’s the problem with the backup umpire system. Most games, umpires aren’t bad enough to the point of getting thrown out. And MLB will have to find these umpires from somewhere. Guess where they’ll get it from? Most likely AAA, where the umpires aren’t good enough to be MLB. This is why it’s not feasible, it’s not “problem solved” when you’re just sweeping the logistics under the rug and pretending this is a solution. It’s also why suspensions are probably a better bet, having 1-2 AAA umpire for 1-3 games is likely better than having a constant 15-20 AAA umpires backfilled
Nothing will change until teams start taking a stand. You have a terrible ump? Refuse to play and let MLB know why. Tell them to get you a replacement ump or you will forfeit the game. They can't risk that becoming the norm so it would force their hand.
The umps since 2020 have been really really stoked up for betting since anyone can bet now and from anywhere. There is always something to gain outside of just watching the game purely for the professionalism that was something of the past. The players taking "roids" was another kind of "change" that was on the player. Now we see it from all levels. I watch a little now. But don't bet or play fantasy sports. Pretty obvious something is up.

PIGGLY WIGGLIES?!?! YOU’RE OUTTA THERE!!!
New York not correcting bad calls is very concerning 😮
He would make a top class NFL referee 😂
the only thing i know about baseball is that every umpire sucks and somehow can just make up rules? even though they literally have cameras and slow motion?
The look on Verlander's face had me laughing.
Dang looks like the NFL Refs are doing double-duty now.
From an O’s fan, the Altuve ejection pissed me off
It’s like NFL and MLB officials are working together with these bad calls
There is a difference between "showing up" an umpire and "showing him incorrect". Big baby hurt feelings took over.
I think folks should start remembering that they outnumber the Umpires. And that the Umpire’s aren’t the ones with bats
If the pitcher was throwing the ball downward and if it hits the home plate on the ground, that should be a ball splitter and if the ball splitter was thrown to his one foot, that should be a hard ball splitter once he got hit. If after he got hit and after the hard ball splitter contact, his one foot kicked the ball back to the fair ground and it must be fair game. 0:24
If it was a fair game then it should not be a foul ball. If it was a foul ball then it should not be a fair game. If it was not a foul ball then it must be a fair game. If it was not a fair game then it must not be a foul ball. 0:42
Because the Astros have such a bad history of cheating, the umps didn’t believe altuve. But that ball definitely hit his feet 😂
No. It’s literally an ump blowing a call so badly that he didn’t want help in his fuck up.
No it didn't hit his foot.
@@F40PH-2CAT You can see his foot & ball move, and why would Altuve take of his shoe if it didn't.
, yes it did!
Yea, yesterday weird af I was there & the way it happened was super odd.
In just about any other job, if you show that you cannot do the job, you get fired. Umpires, referees, and judges should not be immune to that. And they should never be given the benefit of the doubt, especially when there is video evidence.
Astros have no right to complain about anything ever.
cry about it 🤡
Teams need to do this more often… this is the majors. If they have professional players they better have professional Umps!
Congratulations Brandon, you’re the new Angel Hernandez!
Might see some wild pitches thrown so wildly that they go near first, third, and even second base...depending on where the home ump plays next game...
Hmmmmm....... why wouldn't you trust an Astro?
guess what.... we don't need umpires
If i got ejected for showing him a bruise on my foot i would've also gotten ejected for the MLB for beating an umpire to death
This doesn't even mention the strike zone of the home plate ump, as a Padre fan I was laughing at how bad it was forth teams, I haven't seen that many blown calls in one game ever!
Baseball needs a full overhaul of umps
Umpires are human, not robots. They make mistakes. It’s a hard job.
Sorry bud. They replay reviewed a call that was clearly wrong. Nobody even argues that fact. And still managed to uphold it.
@@matthewhall7052 well that’s a different story. Pretty inexcusable if they have video evidence to still get it wrong.
@@matthewhall7052 Upholding the call was the replay office in NY - which is obviously as terrible as the four on the field.
Ye i agree, just fire the entire review system in NY
Anytime it gets Altuve throw out of a game 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Referees and umpires exist to be neutral deciders of outcomes. When both sides of a game agree on someone, the ref/ump shouldnt even comment on it
Altuve shouldn't have taken his shoe and sock off, his wife is probably pissed at him now.
Remember, you, the gamblers, helped enable lax oversight and corrupt officiating
No accountability for the referees does not help.
Instant Replay is not good in baseball! I thought it would be but now the pitchers have a clock and the games are longer because of instant replay!
Ive seen many people try being an umpire... most fail after 2 games.
Well, somebody had to step up and take Angel Henandez's place.
Looks like Brennan Miller is up for the task.
You know it’s trash when both teams are mad
Well when your team is known to be confirmed documented cheaters you most likely won’t get the benefit of the doubt on calls.
That was seven years ago. Almost no one from the 2017 team is still an Astro.
I hope this umpire crew isn't allowed to umpire in the playoffs.
That JV reacton though. 😂
Douche move for that player to not make it clear he hadn't been hit.
Even the best hitter gets a hit less than 40 percent of the time. Why wouldn't you take a guaranteed base.
How bout those Mets
Altuve already have one foot out the door, I mean shoe, anyway 😂. Also, the ump seems to have an issue with being wrong and then proven wrong along with bare feet, so I kind of imagine he struggles with being lonely oustide the game and that this must feed into the insanity here 😮.
I'm definitely not a fan who is happy or ok with a bad call going against the other team.
Is Kessinger good? I pulled a 1/5 ray wave.
Surprised the ump wasn't Angel Hernandez
Somebody fire these umpires
I think Cal Ripkin was safe at home, SARC
Our travel baseball team hit into a triple play on a ball off the batters shin. Umps just suck all over and replay is a ruse to make you think they care about fairness.
gotta post that julio randy double play
They got nuthin’ on WNBA refs.
Robo umps please.

while it MAY work with balls and strikes, the ball hitting the foot would be impossible for the AI to even understand, so would the HBP call, and would take forever to program.
Noone owes the Astros anything. Give them bad calls all day
Lost a 4 teamer on altuve getting ejected. Had to be 1 in a million way to lose
The only saving grace here is this team of umps will not work in the playoffs.
Umpires on MLB are the biggest cry babies. At least the ump who ruined the perfect game owned up to being wrong.
me and Justin Verlander had the same reaction
It's because Profar gets thrown at. ALL. THE. TIME.
the umpires in this league have been ruined by this stupid union they’re now a part of. now they can’t even be reprimanded when they royally screw up and bend the rules.
I live in colorado and generaly support the rockies, but you guys got disrespected on this one ngl. the whole game was a sh*tshow and the umpires were the cieling fan over it all.
I thought you had the option not to take the base on a hbp?
No, there is no option.
Brendon Miller might be the worst ump ever. Missed about 20 balls/strikes, oh and that ego. Dude get over yourself. Check the replay once in a while. The balk call against Hader in the 8th was also unbelievable. Terrible at the job. He should apply for a job at the DMV…they love incompetence.
And Miller is the umpire that got yelled by Boone on the Savages in the Box ejection.
It’s called Karma, how you like that Astros?
You mean the team that won the game?
If Biden was an ump this is what you'd see.
Even with replay they still get them wrong! Baseball has become a joke! Putting a man on second in extra innings 🤣 little league doesn’t even do that!
I was a ghost runner skeptic until the ALDS a couple years ago between the Astros and the Mariners. 17 innings with nobody scoring. I was barely even mad when the Astros eventually did win (and trust me, I hope the Ass-tros go 0-162 every season), cause that shit was unwatchable. Plus say it's Sunday getaway day when you gotta fly from one coast to the other, or the 8th game of 18 in a row. That really the time you want your team to be in a 6 hour 16 inning game? It wouldn't be for me.
Since not reviewed, it is assumed that replay clearly show the calls as wrong. Replay does not prove either call wrong. HBP could have been reviewed, but wasn’t. Foul ball off Altuve’s foot cannot be reviewed by rule.
Altuve’s actions are a required ejection-not about umpire’s attitude at all. Also, there is nothing to show when the ball (might have) barely touched the toe of your shoe.
I am also entertained by comments about roboump. Robo ump is only being considered for ball-strike challenge. No chance it calls HBP and foul balls. So that point is moot in this thread.
Whatever, Angel.
shut up
@@pulykamell
I think that is supposed to be a put-down. But you clearly did not read or think about my entire comment. Assume you are just anti-umpire by default.
Its good to see refs suck in every sport
Lordy I hate the astros but that was a terrible call
Jomboy should lip read this.
No sympathy for the Houston Asterisks.
kessinger my king
Where's jom boy 😂
The talking is so fast i can't even watch
This call didnt quite make the cut.
But it was the Astros so any call against them is a win
OF COURSE IT WAS BRENNAN MILLER!!!!!!!!
Baseball will always have the umpires till the end of time. In order to be able to rig games based on "human error". Even the NY review upstairs saw he didn't get hit and still got it wrong. Even the Player at bat admitted he didn't get hit. This is how far they're willing to go to fix games
So the team that benefited from the blown call lost, and that means the game was rigged?
