Thanks for the video both yall! Marco Polo Spittin some facts. I started with a MPC 2000xl loved and still use it once in awhile but just got a MPC One+ and I am loving many aspects of it (I love how fast you can load things up and deal with samples, also I LOVE the new Jura plugin(. I also love using it in standalone mode away from the computer and then bring it into the software. Some positves and some negatives like you mentioned.
Are you kidding me? This doesn't have over 10k views 😳 6 hours in? WTF? This was legendary 🙌 make sure you have a pen and pad ready to take notes 📝 this ishhhh right hereeee str8 🔥 📛 👨🚒
Such a joy to hear some insight from one of the greats on the MP! I totally agree that 90% of the time the best stuff I create happens in within 15 a minute span of time effortlessly! I need to learn that if I ain’t got a pretty firm understanding or direction of where my beat should go within 30 - 45 min. Of starting out to just scrap it and move on! (I think this would actually increase my productivity 10 fold!) I also tend to not use compression a lot myself unless my kits are just completely unruly? 😅 Can’t wait to hear the composition for the upcoming sample challenge! Definitely gonna get in on this one! (between the super generous money pot and MPC Gang threads provided by IamSight but also the opportunity to have an original composition provided by Marco Polo but also the feedback and judging provided would be dope! Can’t wait to see more of you guys hopefully in future episodes! ❤
Love Marco polo my beat game stepped up hard since I copped all hof his drum packs has inspired me to get better at live finger drumming and to set up my projects all in one bank so can bash it live I also won the Stu bangaz beat compitition which I think was definatly coz one of his breaks that Stu liked and have learned so much from fucking with sounds supplyed by one of the best in my opinion keen az to hear the drums that Yoda did too yo
I load the Sample in the key of A minor, then I cut it into pieces, lowering the pitch by -8 semitones. Then I play the sample pieces in different order and record my playing. My next step is to record the bass, but then there is a problem, my Semple no longer plays in A minor and the bass in A minor does not fit. How to determine the correct tone of the bass, to my sample of the pieces in a different sequence
I appreciate this advice provided, I never release music because I’m not confident in the mixes! Chances are a million ppl won’t hear it anyway so what diff does it make if it’s not perfect lol
I would like to hear what his opinion is on the vintage mode or using the lofi and tuning to specs of the 2000 and using an actual 2000 if there similar at all or identical in the next convos got me mad Inspired was mad informative salute much respect to you Marco and the mpc gang yo
Dope interview but please let the man talk. Couple times he started to talk about some specific production techniques specifically related to getting that sound in the new units and u steered the convo away. Marco really seemed ready to drop some gems but you started talking about you. Hopefully you can get him back to dig deeper. Peace
They’re dope, but not because they sound “good”. They sound “honest” so if you get your mix sounding good in the DT770s, it will sound great anywhere else. They’re gentle on the highs too, don’t cause a lot of ear fatigue so you can use them longer than most headphones.
How do I get involved in this beat battle g I don't fuck with Facebook tho I'm on insta I just won the Stu bangaz beat comp keen az to get involved homie salute
I’m trying to enter this contest but I think my request to join group is being denied all the mpcs I’ve had have 16 pads lol great stream bro how do I get into this sample contest you were talking about at the end?
He said play it safe and keep the kick and snare on the grid. Music is not synonymous with “playing it safe” and nothing would’ve ever evolved. There would have been no dilla if he stuck to that kind of dogma. Maybe training wheels for a beginner but if you been at it for a while you better turn that quantize off bruh. 💯
Nah man not at all. He said personal preference. Me, I only quantize the first kick and everything else is unquantized. I couldn't stand everybody sounding the same cause some beats sound dope quantized.
I agree with him on the kick & snare. Nothing a DJ hates more than trying to play a record where the kick & snares don’t line up, and beats that are too swingy lose some of that head nod factor. I quantize with the strength turned down to about 50% for a little human timing, but still enough to tuck the drums back in. A big advantage on the newer MPCs. I don’t really quantize much else though. Percussion, melodies, basslines etc. I usually do by hand.
100% of James Browns music was not quantized. Dj’s had zero problems cutting in and looping. If a DJ has a problem I’d argue it’s the DJ. Unless the kick is extremely sloppy then yeah the producers need to find a medium and consider that but most producers quantize and DJs still out here struggling. DJs these days just trash and that’s really the problem not the production in my opinion.
Respect that he took the time to talk. It’s was also good you brought him to us. Thanks to the both of you.

Set your pad perform to A Minor, then reduce it by 8 (or increase by 4) and you will be on the new root note.
Great interview fellas 👏🏾 This was classic 🔥
Thanks for tuning in! 🫡
shout out to mpc community peace

11:13 - I like what he said here.. "Beat JESUS". I struggle with complimentary sounds though, need more practice in this area
Peace Iamsight, How Do You Like Those Beyerdynamic Headphones, I'm Looking To Get Some New Headphones And Those Are On My List To Check Out?

Peace Marco, Try Using Licorice Root Chew Sticks To Help With The Smoking Issue, Trust Me It Works And They Come In Different Flavors..!!👍🏾
Marco, being as you use the 2000xl, do you think that there’s a noticeable difference in sounds between the software and the sound in your xl?
