  • How to tell if you have a viral infection or a bacterial infection.
    Timestamps:
    0:00 Is it a viral infection or a bacterial infection? Plus, remedies for each one.
    0:48 If it’s a viral infection, antibodies won’t work
    2:00 Here are remedies I recommend
    I explain the difference between a viral infection and a bacterial infection; plus, I give your remedies for each type of infection. Well, it’s difficult because the symptoms are often the same: fever, developing a cold, muscle ache, sore throat. You could get a blood test to rule out a bacterial infection; otherwise, you’re not going to know.
    Most respiratory infections are viral, although they can be bacterial. And you can have a combination of the two! A viral infection could last 7 to 10 days. If bacterial, 2 weeks. Note that if you have a viral infection, antibodies won’t work. If you take antibiotics too often, you set yourself up for a condition called antibiotic resistance, and the antibiotics won’t work anymore. Plus you’ll weaken your immune system, decrease the good gut flora you need, and be susceptible to secondary infections.
    You suffer two types of damage with an infection. One way to protect against damage is to put your body in ketosis. When you have ketones, you decrease the damage from oxidants that your immune system releases when you have an infection.
    Even if you don’t know which type of infection you have, here are remedies I recommend:
    Olive leaf extract helps put viruses in remission but also helps with bacterial infections
    Calcium also helps put viruses in remission. Remember, a virus isn’t alive. You’ll be at risk depending on your stress level, the quality of your diet, and whether you’re consuming sufficient nutrients. If you have a child with a fever, calcium will help them.
    Increase your temperature; turn up the heat, climb into bed under many covers, and sweat. Take a hot bath or a hot shower
    Consume lots of garlic, for either a viral or bacterial infection.
    Do fasting. You usually lose your appetite anyway; that’s your body saying not to eat. Fasting can speed up the course of the infection.

    Hey Dr. Berg. I went to my first Dr. appt. since starting Keto and IF. I never weighed throughout this journey, but I knew I was getting smaller. I had lost 104lbs in less than 5 months. I thought maybe I would have lost 50 and when I saw the scale I was astonished. I was down from 453 lbs to 349lbs. I still have a long way to go but I feel so much better.
    My AIC is a 5.1 now on no meds and it was 6.9 on 220 units of insulin, and 2 grams of metformin a day before. I am still having way to high BP and I an EKG is showing signs of and enlarged left side to my heart, so I have agreed to go on lisinopril and amlodipine after much debate and reading. I view it as a temporary stop gap measure to get to where I loose more weight and get off the cigarettes. My next step is getting off the cigarettes. I am at the point where I don't need them as the crutch they used to be, I am simply addicted, but I know if I got of sugar I can get off nicotine. Sugar is far more addictive. Thanks for you videos they have been a huge help to me.

      FrugalPrepper's Garage and Gardening. Great job! Also FYI tobacco has various amounts of sugar in the 3 types of curing process, air, fire & flue. The latest is the highest developed in the 60's to reduce the time, which only takes a week, this has the highest amount of sugar. So, yeah! Off them sugar stix & keep going!

    I had a terrible lung infection in 2016. My best friend is a doctor so he started prescribing them antibiotics. I finished "the full course of antibiotics" but I was getting worse so he prescribed me another course of antibiotics. I think he said since the first course (viral antibiotics) didn't work, it means the infection is bacterial so a bacterial antibiotics WILL WORK. Guess what! It didn't work but this time I got terribly bad. It was difficult to breathe and I had the worst fever in my life. I didn't believe human body can get that hot. The coughing was so bad that I couldn't inhale just like suffocation. I had pneumonia! The doc was gonna precribe a third course of antibiotics but this time "fungal". I was fed up and decided to NOT take more antibiotics. I remembered that grandma used to give us good herbal remedies for everything when we were children, may she rest in peace. I turned to her and she simply boiled some chamomile and told me to inhale the vapor, 3 times a day. I felt better gradually and by day 6 I was completely haled.

      @Giovanni-Giorgio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Mate, maybe you should check if you best friend doctor has the best intensions with you. He didn't do a blood test first for his best friend?

    • @electroracc5225
      @electroracc5225 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Giovanni-Giorgio my concern is that the friend was telling OP he was giving them "viral" and "fungal" antibiotics.
      There's no such thing. The word "antibiotic" literally translates to "against bacteria." Penicillins, for example, destroy bacteria. They aren't picky about which bacteria (which is why they have such gnarly side effects, you need balanced gut flora to properly digest food and kill future microbes.) They completely ignore all viruses and fungi. No antibiotic will ever help COVID, chickenpox, or the flu, for example, and should only be prescribed if a bacterial infection occurs as a complication of the original virus, like when I got an awful double ear infection after H1N1 in 2009 and spent about a month of my sophomore year of high school effectively deaf.
      Similarly, antivirals treat viruses, though they're a lot more picky than antibiotics. Antiviral medications are specified for each virus, which is why they couldn't just use the same treatments they use for bad flu cases on people with COVID and had to rush to create new ones, or find combinations of existing ones, which got the job done.
      Antifungal medications also exist, though fungal infections are so uncommon your doctor will likely try to rule out all viral and bacterial causes first unless there are obvious signs of it being caused by a fungus or a clear history of exposure, like swimming in water containing spores of toxic fungi.

    In my late 20s I developed seasonal nasal allergies, and as a result I began having chronic sinus infections. I’ve been on so many antibiotics over the years it’s been scary. Not only have I experienced antibiotic resistance a number of times, but my intestinal tract has suffered quite a bit, too. I’ve experienced IBS symptoms quite a few times in the past 3 years. :(

    • @MC-mh2ju

      I’ve used saline nasal rinses before but never have tried the gum. I’ll look into that.
      I meant to come back and add that since 2017 I started taking AREDS vitamins as a preventative for macular degeneration (it runs in my family) and those vitamins have strengthened my immune system. I haven’t had a sinus infection in over 2 years (since Oct. 2016) and for me, that is a record. 👍

    How long does it take for your gut to replenish the depleted flora after rounds of antibiotics? Last year I was sick literally EVERY month and each time it was so bad that I will go back to the ER and they will give me antibiotics like penicillin and some others via oral. I have been taking probiotics for a few months now as well as eating fermented foods such as sauerkraut, yogurt, miso. Anything else I can do? I am battling with high risk HPV and CIN1 (abnormal cells) as well as bacterial vaginosis since 2018 as well when I also started getting sick.
    I haven't gotten sick since February this year in terms of colds but still dealing with these gynecological issues.

    ****Help Dr. Berg! My husband gets bronchitis every year after a minor cold every year since 4 years ago after a tragic family accident changed our lives and my husband was traveling back and forth every weekend from my mom's house back to ours (plane rides etc). He developed Bronchitis and then Walking Pneumonia. :( Now every year he gegs minor cold which we fight off quickly but then he gets bronchitis again!! We are so frustrated bc we can't prevent it now! We eat a lot of garlic, ginger, tumeric, onions, all kinds of vitamins from leafy green (tons) and other things. We have all kinds of vitamin c foods and calcium too. This year we were super healthy he was running 6 miles a few times a week this past summer. He also lost 25 lbs but ...... he has bronchitis again now :( :( :(. How can we make sure his lungs heal.

      Because when you fast, your immune system isnt focused on food in the bowls and it can give its full energy on patogens. Over 50% of your immune system is in guts to be there as "filter" and to protect and regulate the substances that you ate. So when you are not eating, immune system doesnt need to "scan" bowls and food you ate.

    Keto for strengthening my immune system seems not to work for me. In our family, I am the only one who does Keto, but I am the only one who is always getting the cold etc. I mainly live off vegetables, eggs and fatty meats, organic where ever I can get it. Supplementing with Vitamin K2, plus D3 in winter season. Also eating lots of garlic and ginger. Lemon water and green tea are my drinks of choice. So theoretically I should be ultra healthy, but it's just not the case :(
    Btw I am not trying to loose weight, as I am already quite thin (145lbs at 1.75), I would rather like to bulk up. But this seems to be a lot harder in Keto, as the building effect of the insulin is missing.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

      @@nancyfahey7518 Thank you for your answer. Probiotics shouldn't be an issue as long as the gut health is OK. I have no problem digesting all the veggies, so my microbiom should be fine. But I'll give it a try to do a colon remediation. Thanks for the idea.
      I do IF, 18/6. Even tried OMAD, but that made me loose too much weight (was loosing strength, saw it in the gym).
