    I want to remind everyone that my videos are for educational purposes only. Of course, everyone is welcome to watch, but the information I present is most useful for junior doctors, nurses, and students. As I stated in the description of every video and on my channel homepage, none of this is medical advice for patients. I don't practice medicine over the internet. If you are a patient and have any questions about your health, please get in touch with your doctor.

    I had been taking over the counter cold medications since january when I was diagnosed with fluid in my ear. Took antibiotics for a week and 2 days after i stopped symptoms returned. Went back to Dr. and was diagnosed with sinusitus. Just took my last dose of a 2 week long sinusitus treatment this morning. Never had a fever. Im worried treatment was not enough for whatever is causing my problems.

    Over prescribed.. yeah right. I was sick for 2 months. Doctor wouldn't give me antibiotics at first but when I got them I was better in days.

      Job security. Next time, it’s imperative you haggle the doctor that if they withhold any method for any reason that may help alleviate suffering or getting well, you give them cents on the dollar until you feel like it’s improving how you feel. Treat these American pharmaceutical-backed doctors like used car salesman. The COVID 19 theatre 🎭 caused a lot of damage and the biggest mass psychological operation (psychological warfare) of all time. Be careful who you put your trust into and think for thyself.

      They absolutely ARE overprescribed. Doctors hand out prescriptions for antibiotics for viral infections ALL the time.

    • @nl212ep
      @nl212ep 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably got better because your own immune system was doing its job and not because you took antibiotics.

    This was so informative! Where I live, antibiotics are known to be overprescribed. I had no idea that the common cold and other viral respiratory infections were one of the biggest causes!
    As a layperson, I'm left with two questions, should you take them:
    1. Could a slide from a nose swab or mucous sample be prepared? Even if the exact pathogen isn't identified, couldn't a microscope show whether it's bacterial or viral?
    2. Is there a difference in the pathogens that cause sinus infections vs. a cold?

    After a sinus & throat inflammation lasting for about 7 weeks, I went to an ENT doctor. He prescribed opioid, cortisone, and antihistamine, all of which knocked me out 😬 Needless to say, I didn’t consume all of them

    Yeah I have had a cold for 2 weeks now. I know antibiotics are used too often so I waited it out in hopes it was a viral infection. I couldn’t take it any longer. I went to the doctor after 2 weeks and was given an antibiotic. It may have started out viral but I think it’s bacterial now

      I waited for 7 weeks. It was getting worse and worse. No fever but a lot of coughing with phlegm and huge hard chunks of bloody yellow/green mucus plugs coming out of my nose, and deteriorating chest pain. They eventually sent me for an ex ray, turns out I had both pneumonia and sinus infection, and they put me on antibiotics. I feel better but slow recovery, been on antibiotics fir two weeks and it's still not completely gone. Definitely improving. It started as a cold, but because my sinuses got inflamed and couldn't drain, it turned bacterial and spread to the lungs too.

Im scared because at 70 I worry about cdiff. Very stubborn whole face swelled eye swelled shut. Getting ct scan today. Improve on two abx and steroid but keeps coming back as soon ad I finish. Cbc is always normal. As an RN this helps. I dont really want the ct but my mom died of brain tumor so will get.r

    I have been sick for 6 days. 2-3 days ago I started having severe pain in my left maxillary sinus…causing my top teeth on that side to ache like crazy! So much pain I’m constantly taking pain killers or using heat compresses. Went to urgent care last night and dr said they will not give me antibiotics until it’s been 10 days. You mentioned severe focal pain as a sign of bacterial infection. Is it common to have severe focal pain with viral infections as well? Hoping for relief soon😭

    I have long periods of illness and never run fevers. it may be a thyroid receptor issue but synthroid is no help. So.. After 2 weeks I expect antibiotics because otherwise I go downhill and am confined to bed. Doctors need to remember that patients are unique and must consider individual clinical history as well as patient experience. I know my body better than a doc who has seen me only a few times!

    For the past three weeks I’ve had a lot of sinus pressure and extremely stuffy nose and I went to my into a week ago and so my sinuses are very inflamed. I do not have a runny nose or sore throat, but the mucus that does come out of my nose is very sticky and rubbery, and has almost no moisture and it’s been going on three weeks now. What do you think it is?

    • @sohosterable
      @sohosterable ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the same symptoms you described except I had sore throat but not anymore. Just dry throat. I used NeilMed nasal rinse and it was so much help draining my mucus out. My mucus was thick and rubbery like yours. My mucus won't come out unless I take a warm shower with water pouring down my head and nose or when I use the nasal rinse.
