  • In this video I show you how to unclog a Hayward chlorinator. This model is the cl100. They have a larger chlorinator which is the cl200 and this will fix both of them.There is a few different ways to fix a clogged chlorinator this by far is the quickest way. This will work with all swimming pool chlorinators. Check out my other pool care videos!

    Thank you!!! My chlorinator wasn’t allowing any chlorine into my pool and I thought I’d have to take it apart and find where it was plugged but I put in the boiling water and now the water is flowing back into the chlorinator so I know the problem has been solved thanks to you!!

  • @bigbenredsox

    My chlorinator was stuck and wouldn't let water flow to my pool properly, which was causing my whole pool to turn green. This one simple fix worked perfectly and my pool is humming again! Great job, this was a lifesaver!

    @clearlyseen this seemed to work perfectly! (Just need a few days to see if the tablets dissolve.) Thanks for sharing!

    Had no idea boiling water and a scraper could save my pos CL220. Thanks!

    • @richardefriend
      @richardefriend ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a CL220 too, and it might be clogged. I'd thought it wasn't feeding because the O-ring had split, but I'm not sure that it's replacement will do the fix (I'm currently waiting to see, but that'lll actually take well over a week. So your CL220 was fixed with just the boiling water? Was there anything visible inside the unit to indicate that a clog was the issue?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  ปีที่แล้ว

      The boiling water will free up the clog in the check valve, saving you money

    I'm boiling my water now. Hope this will do the trick for us. We've had a lot of alge this season and couldn't get the chlorine levels right, realized the chlorinator is clogged Fingers crossed 🤞 this works.

    My chlorinator has running water and it dissolves the tablets but do you know why it smells so bad and hard to breath when I open the chlorinator it is sometimes even yellow inside the chlorinator

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The main thing that I run into and you want to be careful about is When opening the lid to the chlorinator you want to hold your breath because chlorine gas will be trapped a lot of times and released once you open it.

  • @randyschiffer3265

    Did you take the screen out before putting the boiling water in?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can remove the screen or keep it doesn’t matter just make sure to fill it up high with boiling water. If it doesn’t unclog first time repeat and second time.

    Will this tip work with a Pool Frog system?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my area, we only have Pentair and Hayward chlorinators mostly if you open it up and put the tablets in and close the lid, like the other kind of chlorinators, it should work the same. I would make sure there’s nothing in the chlorinator at the time of you pouring the boiling water in if there’s packets or chlorine tablets, take them out first

    how long does it take to unclog the unit?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Typically the first time works for dissolving the clog. Sometimes it may take an additional gallon of boiling water.

    Do you know if this method will work with the Pentair 320? What is going on with the boiling water? Is it dissolving calcium deposits, for example, on a check valve under the chlorine feeder? Just an educated guess based off my current problems with my Pentair 320 chlorine feeder. Thanks!

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it should work. Most of my chlorinators I service are 320’s. Normally it’s going to be from the paste that holds the chlorine tablets together that is usually the culprit. If you have super high calcium you could have some deposits on the valve as well. The boiling water just simply dissolves the blockage.

    • @randyschiffer3265
      @randyschiffer3265 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClearlySeen So this will make the check valve work again?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it’s usually just clogged this method will unclog the check valve.

    • @randyschiffer3265
      @randyschiffer3265 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClearlySeen Thanks for answering, I'm trying it this morning. By the way I called my local pool store about this and they said don't do it. They said I would melt the check valve by doing this? Your thought?

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn’t melt your check valve. Normally they just want to sell you a new one or charge you a whole bunch of money to come out to replumb it.

  • @robertcullen6088

    why would a new cap leak from after i tightened the screw

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually if it’s leaking after you tighten it down it’s going to be a bad O-ring or there may be some debris on the oring if not it could be bad threads on the cap.

    what do you do if after pouring boiling water it does not drain

    • @ClearlySeen
      @ClearlySeen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you pour it in and it does not go down let it sit but make sure the valve is open it should drain down eventually and you may have to repeat the process a couple of times

  • @bridgittewithers4745
    @bridgittewithers4745 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ive just tried this, however, the water is not draining. I have the knob to full....its been about 20 min. suggestions ?

    • @ClearlySeen

      Fill it up with boiling water and wait if it doesn’t drain you maybe dealing with a different problem. Give it some time it may take several attempts.
