    Watched your video and it helped me fixed mine. Funny note - I went to the auto parts store to see if they might have the bearings. They did not, but the girl at the counter say's "gee what are those from a Fidget-Spinner?" I said no, but yes they look very much the same size. Guess what - fixed the blender with two bearings from my kids fidget-spinner. ALSO took the old bearings, stuffed them back into the fidget-spinner and it still works. HaHaHa!

    The bearings are standard skateboard bearings. I picked up 2 for $4 from a local skate shop and it worked on a Vitamix 5200 as well. I’ll be able to return the $70 OEM part next week unopened.

      How did you get to the bearings? Another video says you pry off the gear on bottom. Do you have any recommendations? I can't get into mine.

    This has happened to me over 4 times. When I had my warranty it was fine because they would send me a new one. Don't wash your blender in the dishwasher it rust the bearings. I found out the hard way. This video is correct you can replace the bearings yourself. You just need the right tools. I took mine to a machine shop and got it done for $30.00. The bearings are 608 and are the same as skateboard wheel bearings. You can do it yourself if you have a press. The whole point of the press is that you dont mess up the bearings or the rubber grommets.I didn't have a press so a local machine shop did it real quick for $30.00 and is still cheaper then $70.00 and my blender works great. You might have a friend or get a better deal than me. One small advice that I i will advise is on top of the bearings is a fiber washer that is delicate so dont try to clean if looks rusty. The machine shop i went to thought it was a regular washer and tried to clean it and broke the washer.

    The man of the hour! I bought a 7500 for $13. at an auction. I noticed the blade assembly did not spin easily. And when I tried to blend some steamed vegetables for my soup the blade assembly violently vibrated intermittently. Funny how my 10 year old $20 Oster blender kept going. And the jar is glass, not cheap plastic. Vitamix clearly is overpriced, just like Kirby vacuum cleaners.

    Sorry, thank you. You just saved me a ton of money. I just got done rebuilding an Imac computer. I have some tips on that. Get an old Imac from 2011 to 2013. Get two SSD drives 1 1TB and 1 2TB. Put the 2TB in the main drive bay and the 1TB off the remaining motherboard connection running at 6gbs. Buy extra Optical Drive sensors and use the extra optical drive sensor (instead of the other world computing sensor that causes Apple Hardware Test to get an error) to connect the sensor to the hard drive and to the logic board. Buy extra fans at IFIX IT. Those and the sensors are the first things to malfunction on apple computers. Now when your done. Partition the main 2TB drive and SOFTWARE raid 1TB of the 2TB to the other 1TB drive using APPLE'S DISK UTILITY. Now install Mavericks on the BOOT RAID because Mavericks can boot off of a RAID and install High Sierra on the remaining 1TB which does not BOOT off a RAID. Now you have Mavericks running at 800 Mbs Read and Write and you have High Sierra booting at 400 Mbs read and write. NEVER BOOT FROM A HARDWARE RAID. It works really well.

    Good stuff. Vitamix wanted to sell me an entire container for about $150. I was unable to save the seal as one of the bearings was really gaulded in, but I still purchased a new OEM blade and bearing assembly online for less than 1/2 of the price of a new container.

    Thank you for this video! I took the blades off, threaded the nut back on and hammered it out. I damaged the washer bit but I think it was already needing replacing because liquid was coming through the whole assembly before I tried taking it apart. Replaced the bearings, using sealed ones, tested it with water and it still dripped through, so I need to find either better sealed bearings (it doesn't spin as easily is before so I've just found some 'high speed' ones to try) or a washer that will actually work, or both. The washer is proving difficult as it's most probably specialised. Will keep hunting but if anyone's found a solution please let me know! I miss my Vitamix!

      Also, make sure you coat outside of the bearings with bearing retaining compound before installing them into case and wait 24 hours before using. Ideally it should be green in color, but red thread locker will do.

    • @vesicastudio
      @vesicastudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      elfqueenchloe, did you find the specialized washer or were high speed sealed bearing good enough? Dealing with same issue I believe. Actually that rubber washer deteriorated and two separate machines and messed up the blade assemblies (difficult to turn and leaking).

    Very Helpful. This morning my smoothie was processing and I heard a strange noise...then a smell. Some motor oil has appeared on the underside of the pitcher. Do you think this is more than replacing bearings? The blade looks fine. Having a hard time finding a video where oil is involved.

    I will posit that the reason for bearing failure is most likely failure of the special seal just above them. If that seal is not working properly, any new bearing will have a limited life at best. Also, the OEM bearing are stainless steel. I bought an OEM blade assembly for 50 bucks shipped and should be good for 6 years. I won't blend hot liquids in the future.

  • @turbo6nut

    I found the parts online for $13 with free delivery. it's not worth going to the machine shop or even buying the new bearings because the assembly comes with a new blade and I upgrade to the ice crusher blade.

    Thanks for the video! Question: If you don't have a small press, what are the other ways to open up the last part, the one that holds the two roller bearings? This for me is the hardest step.

    • @ShalomAcres
      @ShalomAcres  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Donald Payne I would try using a brass punch and a hammer to knock out the bearings. If I remember correctly the top of the unit has a small plastic/rubber washer that acts as a seal. Be careful not to damage it so you can reuse it. If you need to remove the stem make sure you protect the threads that attaches the blade. You may want to thread the nut on it. I would also suggest asking a neighbor if they have a small press since they are pretty common tools in garages. Good luck! I hope this additional information helps?!

    • @DonaldPayne60
      @DonaldPayne60 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Shalom Acres Thanks for your helpful reply. To disassemble it, I used a vise and some cylindrical shapes (socket wrench sockets) to press apart the parts, until I could see the bearings. Another post elsewhere advised against a hammer, saying it could deform the parts. (I took a photo of the parts in order so I would remember what goes where.) I didn't remove them but just soaked them in gas, repacked in grease, and reassembled. It's working so far!

    I took the blade assembly to a power tool shop and he replaced the bearings. The cost was $27. There's a bit of resistance compared to a new one...and when I put it on the base for a test run, the blade assembly gets hot. I'll be using this container (if it doesn't leak) for salsas and such. Anyways, Vitamix is sending me a new container because it's still under warranty.

    I JUST BOUGHT THE BEARINGS. I've never worked with bearing before. Do I take the covers off the bottom ones, keeping the very top cover on to prevent dust and dirt from getting in. I watched a video that said the covers will slow down the spin cycle and that the bearings should ideally be cleaned with WD-40 to remove the grease and then soaked in acetone or nail polish remover to remove the WD-40 and get the MAXIMUM SPIN.

      Blender mart sells kit that consists of the shaft seal, two bearings, food grade grease for shaft, bearing mount adhesive and washers. The bearings are glued with the adhesive which gets soft after being heated. You could use heat gun, or put it into oven at 350 F for 15 minutes or so. After the blade assembly is heated, it is much easier to get the shaft with bearings out of the housing. You could use small puller to disassemble it . blendermart.com/ocart/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51
