Someone this stupid (and I'm giving him more credit than he disserves based upon some of the stuff we've seen in past videos) wouldn't be allowed in any auto shop, diesel or otherwise. In regards to your other video about space heaters, I believe a test that has been overlooked is using certain space heaters in homes where oxygen is being used, albeit for elderly people who might not even think twice.
You should do a test for different space heaters that would be deemed safe around oxygen patients. Obviously you can’t have open flames but sometimes the coils might be too exposed, etc.

Your last statement was on the money. These things shouldn't be used as your main tool, but they will get you out of a pinch sometimes. I used to be an appliance installer, and we used the universal socket, or, "gator bit" for a few specific applications. Like removing the shipping bolts from washing machines or leveling the legs on ranges or built-in refrigerators. They would tear up before a year. But at ten bucks, they would save time from having to have our whole socket set with us. And saving a few minutes here and there adds up when you've got 10 stops to get through on a day.

    • @jacobkean03

That's not even what a pipe wrench is supposed to be used for. They are supposed to bite in when you pull, and release when you push, to allow it to slide back to another position without removing the wrench from the pipe. Your test was trying to use a pipe wrench as a crescent wrench.
The universal socket thing... I had one I used at work, was under the name Gator Grip, got it many years ago. I used the thing for a good 15 years, with a standard socket wrench. Used the hell out of the thing. While it wasn't right for every job, it was often a better option than an open end, box end, or crescent wrench.

As a professional mechanic and over 10 years in the industry I can say I own 4 of those tools you have in this video hahaha by for the best tool in this video vicegrip spanner ! I have 6 of those in 6 different lengths and sizes I bought from snapon haha not the worst tool by any means. The adjustable ratchet I do have but rarely use , the wrench that looks like a nut breaker, I have 3 of those work well for getting well rounded bolts out it's more of a bolt extractor then anything do to the spike that screws into it and the last tool on your list I actually have a full set of those I got from my father hahaha those adjuster wrenches are older design then you think haha

It’s funny to see a mechanic that don’t normally do errands around the house. Use a universal tool to put in a hook, but how many of us have been doing the exact same thing and we failed miserably instead of just using a drill for Tyler instead of having the universal tool that’s funny to watch LMAO

My parents bought me one of those sockets about 25 years ago when I first started as a mechanic at a Midas, it was called Gator grip back then, and that's one of the things they're advertised as being used for. He's testing these according to what the packaging says. The more you know, right??

THE adjustable wrenches that have a bolt splitter design suck because of the way they contact the bolt as well ass you loose a lot of clearance in most if not ever situation

  • @ZeroCool00001

On those little hooks you just stick a screwdriver through them and turn them like that. That's the best way. That universal socket would be alright for it if you had hundreds to do.

There's been a lotttttttttt of hate for that universal socket for .. decades.. but honestly while its something you will probably absolutely never need, I would 100000% recommend everyone still tossing one in a drawer or their toolbox. It actually does come in handy on occasion.

I think the hate comes from cheap crappy versions of universal socket,
the I think orginal version that has hexagonal pins it acctually work surprisingly well.
One friend on mine had one bought from a tv-shop. They were stranded on a road side in winter time because the lug wrench was wrong size, they had a spare, and bolts to fit the rim, but wrong size tool so he tried the universal socket and it worked, when the got home he checked the nuts with a proper lug wrench and all were more tight than he normally would tighten them.
I acctually have one, that has round pins, but havent tested it out yet, it's not too much convinsing

    • @felixchaus
      @felixchaus 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

I have one from 1 to 2 inch sized. It has a spring to close the head and I don't really like it, it's fiddly to use and get around a pipe, but still it never have failed in use. I bought it around last year while working at a camping site, everything kinda was at end of it's life span so there was plenty of maintenace.
That self adjusting wrench and Knipex pliers was the only ones used.
(not kinipex I have never heard anyone kinitting a scarf)

Even the bigger companies are making below-par tools these days. There are people out there who will buy a tool send something back, and get their money back, but what they sent back wasn’t what they bought. What I tend to do lately is to buy a good refurbished older tool as they’re a lot more reliable.

12:14 It's surprising to see that Tyler can't figure out how to use that kind of tool, considering he was a diesel mechanic at one point. With this type of pliers, you must always turn the tip upwards when twisting it towards yourself, that way you can get the best possible grip and avoid the pliers slipping.
