Vampire, the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 vanished, too. The First release Date was around the time Cyberpunk 2077 should have been released at first, they were even very active with online events etc. until they announced they had to push their release date back, too. It went from first quarter of 2020 to last quarter and then to tbd. Afterwards it vanished from the face of the earth
On top of the big ones other people have mentioned in the comments, I'm surprised the list didn't include Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, where we got an update in February of 2021 that Hardsuit got released from development and, much like some of the other games in the list, the only evidence to suggest it hasn't been dropped is quarterly earnings statements that Paradox Interactive has released and a vague Twitter post essentially saying "Don't worry. It's still in development. We just don't want the new devs to worry about anything except making the game."
TES6 didn’t really “vanish.” Bethesda was pretty upfront that it wasn’t coming for a very long time. That it was really in a pre-production phase until Starfield was almost done. They only put the teaser out to shut people up.
@tdenzel101 Well, they did it because some people jumped the gun and assumed that there'd be no more pure single-player games because of TESO and FO76. That's why Todd made a point of saying "And it's single player" when he rolled the teaser.
@@malazan6004 Well, you can’t speak for everyone, because quite a lot of people are interested in Starfield. Personally, I respect their desire to make something new, instead of churning out the same two IPs forever. Plus, Starfield is a good testing ground for their engine upgrades, before implementing them in TESVI.
I feel that all the Fable fans out there have been waiting for a while for a new release. Definitely excited to see what Playground studio will be giving to the community.
You know what is sad? That Half Life 3 isn’t even part of the conversation anymore. The granpapa of missing games. The holy grail. It’s been so long that we have an entire generation of new gamers that have never even heard of it.

Also it doesn't help the fact that Valve has most likely geared their focus on entirely on VR being the go-to platform for Half-Life 3 (whenever it does happen), which I can imagine will have to take some further development before they're satisfied with actually going with the dreaded number "3".
From what I have heard, valve now a days only really makes games to test and show off new tech, like how alyx was used to show off valve's vr stuff and how desk job was used to show off the portable console

I love how Perfect dark and the initiative was supposed to be the first AAAA game but majority of the developers have quit and they are now relying on another developer to help.
It was a game for PS3 called "City of the Metronome." I loved the art style and couldn't wait to play it. Then it vanished. The devs behind it later went on to create Little Nightmares 1 & 2, which were great. It's easy to see how the work on City transformed into those games, but there's still something about the initial game's original style that makes me still want it.
Beyond Good & Evil is one of those games I will always hope truly exists, just the small gameplay trailer we got all those years ago is constantly in my head and I just hope I get to play it one day.
I have a lot of faith in FF16 considering the team working on it. They have shown to be really passionate about FF and with experience working on FF14, I just feel like they earned and continue to earn this faith in them.
I haven't played a FF game since X-2. Actually I lied, I played FF7 Remake but that feels... different. Personally I would love to see the series return to It's roots. 9 is still my favorite. Maybe not a mainline game but I actually love the turn based combat...
Considering they delayed Endwalker because Yoshi-P wasn’t quite satisfied with the story, massive delays should not come as a surprise. It looks to be using a lot of 15 resources. Also, I suspect they want the PS5 to be in more households than it currently is.
@@Gatorade69 I mean Square does still come out with games that are considered their 'roots', but they're either mobile or indie games since well those style games aren't anything more than indie games now a days. They have one coming out this year that looks nice (The DioField Chronicle), but you won't see the mainline FF games go back to that style. I'm cool with that though... it's kind of refreshing and it appeals to a larger audience too
IMHO, if a game like Beyond Good And Evil 2 goes silent for years, to me, that is good news. i don't wanna hear anything other than reassurances that the game is taking a long time to make. take your time, do it right, release the FULL COMPLETED GAME, without bugs or controversy, like so many we've already seen *cough cough* Cyberpunk *cough cough*. take your time, COMPLETE your ambitious project, and release it WHEN IT IS PROPERLY READY!
Mewgenics by Edmund McMillen/Team Meat. It's been in development for well over 9 years at this point, it's been cancelled, rebooted, and completely changed numerous times, and it still is supposedly at least another year or two out (but they have been posting development updates on Twitter finally).
Y'all should do a Top 10 (or Top 20) games that had the most significant art styles or technological breakthroughs. Like hearing Silent Hill 3 doing the moving walls in the otherworld, which was the first of its kind in all PS2 history, or LA Noire for having uncanny valley facial animations, or also Cuphead for having the most retro-modern art style.
Also the trailer for the 2.5 D cyberpunk game and the updated new 2020? Christmas trailer with the giant Xmas tree in 2.5 D. The traler and a fan-made video about the long dev cycle is on youtube. It's informative.

It’s so clear what a contemporary perfect dark game would be. I was playing timesplitters 2, the other day, I feel like there’s still a real gap in the market for single players games with a tiered list of objective in a meticulously created world. The closest thing would be the hitman reboots, but they’re more sandbox’y and less of a proper scripted experience. I was surprised at how much stuff like goldeneye and timesplitters hold up, as game concepts; also shooting is such a background part of these games.
It is a big risk releasing a linear mission-based AAA(A) shooter today, when multiplayer and sandbox games are perceived to offer better value for money - especially at launch prices. I still go back and play Perfect Dark HD though, it's a classic but I can't see that sort of game working at big budget and big price levels.
@@milinddixit6583 there’s no reason to not have multiplayer. Goldeneye and perfect dark were awesome couch multiplayer. If they include that and online it would be awesome. N bombs and slappers only is nuts.
I definitely agree and hope it turns out this way. While I enjoy "regular" FPSs, having ones with actual objectives beyond find the keycard, I find more entertaining.
Metroid Prime 4 is definitely a big one. Been waiting for a new entry in the series for a very very long time. Never gotten anymore than their word that it's in development. Luckily we've had other great Metroid games in between, but still been a hell of a wait.
To be fair, metroid prime 4 restarted development wholesale which reasonably set them back a long time so they wouldnt have any real footage of the game to show yet but we can rest assured itl probably be better now that the original metroid prime devs are back on the project

There was word a while ago that they were renewing some copyrights, but looking at the current state of PS Plus, a rerelease there might be what it was for. PE Remake would slap hard, but I think Dino Crisis is more likely, at least first.
I was interested in Capcom’s Deep Down way back when. I know the original creator left the studio and the former SIE chairman stated later year “he has no idea” what happened with that development xD
We saw people playing it and it looked amazing! The only thing that ever gave me pause was the randomly generated dungeons. I wonder if there's a world that would support both Deep Down and a new Dragon's Dogma, seems to me that you'd just fold a lot of the ideas from Deep Down into Dragon's Dogma rather than resurrect the Deep Down project from the grave. Still, I like Dragon's Dogma to be Dragon's Dogma, I want to believe that Deep Down can still exist as its own game. Here's another one for you: Project Awakening. Is that game real and can it be even half as good as the CG concept trailer looked to be?

I get why Beyond Good and Evil 2 has dissapeared since it always looked very conceptual, but Skull and Bones had a lot shown, and it seemed like it had a pretty clear idea of what it was going to be, so I really don't get what happened there.
They should have named assassins creed: skull and bones and just keep doing their own spin off saga of assassins creed so they could just keep improving the pirate side of gameplay now they have to deal with this dillema of doing a game that is literally assassins creed but without the assassins gameplay, just the pirate side of it
Something funny about Everwild is that months after its announcement the developers commented they still had no idea what kind of gameplay the game will have :/
They actually have a dev log with lots of updates about the game's design. There is plenty of updated gameplay footage now. Really excited about this one as the gameplay is described is feeling similar to Destiny and Dark Souls - both inspirations for my personal game project as well!
Wild from Wildsheep studio was a ps4 exclusive game announced in 2014 and we saw a gameplay reveal in 2015. Unfortunately nothing ever since... It was developed by Michel Ancel back in the day, he abandoned the project at some point. It really was and still is my top anticipated game of all time. I am praying that Sony will make it happen again.
This was the game I made a comment about and I thought would be talked about in the video but it wasn’t. Last time I tried to look something up in it there was news that it was still in the works and wasnt cancelled but that was in 2020 maybe end of 2019

Ubisoft seem like they might be getting themselves into a financial hole with the way the company keeps shouting about how great it'll be to have NFT's noone wants shoehorned into their games. The more money they drop into pushing that tech the less they'll have to put towards the actual games. Skull&bones could have been out by now but it does seem like they've been holding it back because they can't work out how to milk the players after the initial buy in. Shame as all they really needed to do was create a set of new islands and oceans to be piratey in minus the nonsense of the assassin stuff.
Well I'm not too surprised System Shock 3 has gone dark due to the issues and delays the remake of System Shock 1 was having, not sure if it's the same team, but not even SS1 Remake has been out and since the last demo the devs seem to be really quiet and the release date got pushed back to the end of the year. So I'm guessing it'll be a long time before we see SS3.

Should've put "Deep Down" on the list! It was supposed to be a free to play soulslike, dungeon, co-op game from Capcom showing off their new engine for the Playstation 4. It was supposed to be a Playstation launch exclusive for PS4 back in 2013 and had been delayed and delayed and delayed, but everything I've tried to check out for the game it looks like it's still in development, but I'm not sure what's going on with it. It looked REALLY good and I was super excited for this game. Would love to know what really happened to this game if gameranx could do a little research for more games that have vanished?

People need to remember that Obsidian isn't the company they were when they made New Vegas, they've even drifted a bit from who they were when making Outer Worlds. A game team gets its spirit and ethos from the developers making it and the turnover in the industry is *huge.*
I was really excited to play advance wars but a few days before release I found out it was delisted and pushed forward supposedly because it's "inappropriate" with the current russian/ukraine situation. Ironically they've had this war of mine on sale for like the whole last month after saying that which is a game that is much more intense than a cartoony turn based strategy game.
When Ken Levine dissolved his studio after Bioshock Infinite we were supposedly going to get a new game from a new developer published through Take 2. I have heard NOTHING about this and I loved that series so much.

Some smaller known games I've been wanting to hear more about are Lost Soul Aside. It's a Final Fantasy looking main character but with Devil May Cry hack n slash gameplay, a lot of people probably don't even know this game but I still remember it. Also Granblue Fantasy ReLink, an action JRPG. Thought I saw somewhere on the internet that it could be coming this year but idk.

What made Perfect Dark for me: The Atmospheric Soundtrack The Carrington Institute acting as an open world game menu Weapons with diverse secondary modes & dual weilding The Corporate Goverment Conspiracies The list of multiplayer AI Bot types Weird but fun easter eggs Joanna's thicc polygons with DK mode 😅 There are way too many FPS that never came close to what this game featured. CoD Black ops 1 and 2 was the closest.
"Project Awakening" Is a game that looked amazing when it was announced i believe in 2018 it has a website that consists of a single video and a few screenshots. Super hyped when i first heard about it and now I'm just trying not to forget it still exists XD. There was a video showing engine footage around Nov 2021 and i personally haven't heard anything since.
The Last Night is one I was super stoked to see more of but unfortunately its gone radio silent. Still, the trailer is a masterpiece in its own right no thanks to the killer music by Lorn. Still have a small glimmer of hope that something will come of it soon....ish
Re;Fantasy by Atlus was announced in 2017. It's a new IP with very little update from it aside from the "in development", development has "reached its climax" statements, and apparently being caught up in other bigger projects that prevented them from working on it properly. I'm hoping there's some news on it this year, but I have almost no hope in that happening.
I would absolutely LOVE a modern Perfect Dark! Right now, if I want feature-rich, fun as hell FPS action, I go to the Borderlands games. But, the biggest thing about PD was how the levels were such interesting puzzles. I think it would be hard to create a fast paced puzzle FPS that isn't just another Immersive Sim (Deus Ex, Dishonored, and the rest). Doubly hard because all the free stuff that PD would throw at you for completing levels is usually the kind of stuff that carved out for DLC. They could borrow a bit from Borderlands and let you earn some things and pay for others... I feel like greed is king, in todays gaming market, though...
It's a shame most people at the initiative have quit and they are now relying on other companies to make the game. It seems it's in development hell but would love for it to turn out good as a big fan of N64 pd
The Obsidian game is really the only one that I'm looking forward to and that's... way off. I love Final Fantasy, but they keep going more and more in the direction of action combat and away from what I used to love about them.

FF went down hill after they started being released on Xbox. Their entire combat mechanics shifted to becoming more and more action oriented. I really wanted to like FF15 after waiting two console generations, but I eventually uninstalled it about three hours in. FF7 Remake I got because it was a PS+ game one month and I honestly don't regret not buying it even though I beat it. I miss the turn-based JRPGs.
Scalebound. An xbox exclusive which packed an vast-world adventure that was in development by Platinum Games and was dropped in 2017. Fans have been awaiting a resurrection. It's just a theory I've been hearing ,but it would be nice to see its continuous development. Gameplay was great
Skull and Bones had...or i guess has so much potential...The only AAA experience that exists like it is AC4 and ever since that all we got when it comes to open world pirate rpg's were mmo's or early access low budget pc strategy titles. Imagine a modern AAA pirate open world with tons of ship battles and island exploration and crew management. Maybe add some mythical stuff like the Kraken or the Scylla in there as special events as well instead of trying to fit them in recent AC games.

Sadly...I have played Sea of Thieves because of the wait lol. I had Assassin's Creed Black Flag when I got the PS4 at release. I was saying then that if they gave me a game with nothing but the ship battles, I'd play it.

Project 1v1 by Gearbox Studios and the semi-recent Dead Space looking horror game that I forgot the name of. Project 1v1 was literally just a 1v1 game with small maps. It kinda felt like Unreal Champions in terms of shooting. It had a tech demo like 6 years ago and I never got word it was cancelled, but I guess it must've been
it's not recent but, I've been looking forward to 5 years, an independent game called routine, developed by three people, company called lunar software that was scheduled to be released in March 2017 and never heard from again. It was a big promise for me. the trailer shown at E3 2012 was amazing and later another magnificent trailer too. Too bad it didn't go ahead.
Came here to comment this one as well. It's weird how it's the first thing I think of literally any time this subject is brought up. Really disappointed it never came out and seemingly the closest thing we have is Alien Isolation which is luckily a really great game.
I am ready for silksong when it comes. It's a very small team that's making it so I understand whatever delay they make but the game looks awesome and can't wait to play it.

Routine was a pretty interesting looking 1st person horror game announced at Gamescon in 2013, with a release date trailer in 2016, citing March 2017. The last update was March 23rd '17 announcing a small delay, and then complete radio silence. A damn shame, what we got looked interesting, and it even had Mick Gordon as the Audio Director (you can still view it on Gordons own website). The website for the game is still up, and the developer Lunar Software still has a functioning website as well.

One of them was Robert Evans who is the Senior Character Modeler on the new Perfect Dark Remake. All he said about it was that it is still in the works and hopefully by holiday 2023 it will be out

Global Agenda was supposed to get a sequel, but then Hi-Rez Studios got busy with Smite and some other titles and it pretty much just kind of got forgotten about. The studio put together a test server earlier this year though, that some players accidentally found. No official word, but that seems like promising news. That was one of my favorite games of the 2010's.
Although I have heard more about it since, I have been waiting for many years for Scorn. I backed it up through BrightLocker who has since shut down. Thankfully the orders are still valid as my understanding is they were passed over to another company. But I have had the demo for the game for a long time now and am still eagerly waiting for the game’s full release.
I pre-ordered VtM: Bloodlines 2 Blood Moon Edition way back in March of 2020, it was scheduled for later that year, but they've since taken down pre-orders. The last update on the official website is from February 2021 and there hasn't been a peep since.
I’ve been looking forward to the new Fable since the moment it was announced, and have been hoping for a new Fable since that old one with 4 heroes and 1 dungeon master being asymmetrical PvP got canceled.
I'm looking forward to Avowed and Perfect Dark. Avowed is most likely going to be awesome. Although I am a bit worried that Perfect Dark won't be as epic and memorable as the Nintendo 64 version we older folks knew and loved.

Alan Wake 2 is an example too and hopefully they're actually working on it currently. I've been waiting for that game since ever and everytime we just hear announcements and promises. I have so many amazing memories and nostalgia with the first one which I played during my high school time and I can't believe that we're 12 years later already and still waiting for the sequel.

I remember watching the trailer for Scalebound years ago and thinking it was awesome. In this case it got canceled completely but I never knew why. It looked really good
Sadly it was cancelled because the staff weren't experienced enough to finish the multi-player (couldn't make it the way they promised) so it was pulled by Microsoft and its assists were used for another game instead
One that eventually got released but took several years was "The Last Guardian". It doesn't fit this list because it eventually came out, but it got announced soon after the launch of Shadow of the Colossus (mid-ps2 era), the announcement was for the new upcoming generation PS3, but only got actually delivered late-PS4 era. I heard the studio lost almost all of its employees, so that would explain why it delayed so much, but still...
I pre-ordered Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory. It became available for download, but when I went to do so, I got a notice that the keys were temporarily out of stock. It's been a couple of years. The game is still listed on Steam as "coming soon".

I dont expect anyone to see this but In regards to ff16, Naoki yoshida recently said the 16 is more or less finished development (it's currently in QA and debuggin phase) and they have a trailer to show off, likely sometime next month. We might be getting a state of play/ summer games fest reveal for it soon
Fable 4. apparently the trailer came out back in 2020-2021 and then it just went dead silent. i loved the fable series and it was a huge part of my gaming career, and i was sad that i missed the trailer's release but also sad when i found out that microsoft went radio silent with it! :(
One of the main two devs got pulled into the whole Gamergate thing over some comments he'd made in the past. That seems to have added to it moving to the background for a bit, along with it being a much longer development than they anticipated. You know, the usual thing of devs announcing a game far too early.
I've been really excited for Way to the Woods (two deer whose antlers can glow exploring a post-apocalyptic setting) ever since they showed a trailer at one of Xbox's E3 conferences. Apparently, it's still in development so that's good.
Surprised not to see Digimon Survive here. At least both that and Silksong got announcements dates since the video, and news of '83's development being put on hiatus in favor of IGI Origins (whatever the hell that is) came only a couple weeks after this video went live
Avowed is the only MS 1st party game I'm interested in. It's a shame that Xbox console and physical games has DRM. It's a game that would be nice to own if it turns out good. Since ownership is out of the window, may as well get it on PC.

On top of the big ones other people have mentioned in the comments, I'm surprised the list didn't include Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, where we got an update in February of 2021 that Hardsuit got released from development and, much like some of the other games in the list, the only evidence to suggest it hasn't been dropped is quarterly earnings statements that Paradox Interactive has released and a vague Twitter post essentially saying "Don't worry. It's still in development. We just don't want the new devs to worry about anything except making the game."

TES6 didn’t really “vanish.” Bethesda was pretty upfront that it wasn’t coming for a very long time. That it was really in a pre-production phase until Starfield was almost done. They only put the teaser out to shut people up.
@tdenzel101 Well, they did it because some people jumped the gun and assumed that there'd be no more pure single-player games because of TESO and FO76. That's why Todd made a point of saying "And it's single player" when he rolled the teaser.

@@malazan6004 Well, you can’t speak for everyone, because quite a lot of people are interested in Starfield. Personally, I respect their desire to make something new, instead of churning out the same two IPs forever. Plus, Starfield is a good testing ground for their engine upgrades, before implementing them in TESVI.
I feel that all the Fable fans out there have been waiting for a while for a new release. Definitely excited to see what Playground studio will be giving to the community.

You know what is sad? That Half Life 3 isn’t even part of the conversation anymore. The granpapa of missing games. The holy grail. It’s been so long that we have an entire generation of new gamers that have never even heard of it.

Also it doesn't help the fact that Valve has most likely geared their focus on entirely on VR being the go-to platform for Half-Life 3 (whenever it does happen), which I can imagine will have to take some further development before they're satisfied with actually going with the dreaded number "3".

I love how Perfect dark and the initiative was supposed to be the first AAAA game but majority of the developers have quit and they are now relying on another developer to help.
It was a game for PS3 called "City of the Metronome." I loved the art style and couldn't wait to play it. Then it vanished. The devs behind it later went on to create Little Nightmares 1 & 2, which were great. It's easy to see how the work on City transformed into those games, but there's still something about the initial game's original style that makes me still want it.

Beyond Good & Evil is one of those games I will always hope truly exists, just the small gameplay trailer we got all those years ago is constantly in my head and I just hope I get to play it one day.

Considering they delayed Endwalker because Yoshi-P wasn’t quite satisfied with the story, massive delays should not come as a surprise. It looks to be using a lot of 15 resources. Also, I suspect they want the PS5 to be in more households than it currently is.
@@Gatorade69 I mean Square does still come out with games that are considered their 'roots', but they're either mobile or indie games since well those style games aren't anything more than indie games now a days. They have one coming out this year that looks nice (The DioField Chronicle), but you won't see the mainline FF games go back to that style. I'm cool with that though... it's kind of refreshing and it appeals to a larger audience too
IMHO, if a game like Beyond Good And Evil 2 goes silent for years, to me, that is good news. i don't wanna hear anything other than reassurances that the game is taking a long time to make. take your time, do it right, release the FULL COMPLETED GAME, without bugs or controversy, like so many we've already seen *cough cough* Cyberpunk *cough cough*. take your time, COMPLETE your ambitious project, and release it WHEN IT IS PROPERLY READY!

It's been in development for well over 9 years at this point, it's been cancelled, rebooted, and completely changed numerous times, and it still is supposedly at least another year or two out (but they have been posting development updates on Twitter finally).
Y'all should do a Top 10 (or Top 20) games that had the most significant art styles or technological breakthroughs. Like hearing Silent Hill 3 doing the moving walls in the otherworld, which was the first of its kind in all PS2 history, or LA Noire for having uncanny valley facial animations, or also Cuphead for having the most retro-modern art style.
I support any opportunity to praise Silent Hill.

It’s so clear what a contemporary perfect dark game would be. I was playing timesplitters 2, the other day, I feel like there’s still a real gap in the market for single players games with a tiered list of objective in a meticulously created world. The closest thing would be the hitman reboots, but they’re more sandbox’y and less of a proper scripted experience. I was surprised at how much stuff like goldeneye and timesplitters hold up, as game concepts; also shooting is such a background part of these games.
It is a big risk releasing a linear mission-based AAA(A) shooter today, when multiplayer and sandbox games are perceived to offer better value for money - especially at launch prices. I still go back and play Perfect Dark HD though, it's a classic but I can't see that sort of game working at big budget and big price levels.

I definitely agree and hope it turns out this way. While I enjoy "regular" FPSs, having ones with actual objectives beyond find the keycard, I find more entertaining.
Metroid Prime 4 is definitely a big one. Been waiting for a new entry in the series for a very very long time. Never gotten anymore than their word that it's in development. Luckily we've had other great Metroid games in between, but still been a hell of a wait.
To be fair, metroid prime 4 restarted development wholesale which reasonably set them back a long time so they wouldnt have any real footage of the game to show yet but we can rest assured itl probably be better now that the original metroid prime devs are back on the project

I get why Beyond Good and Evil 2 has dissapeared since it always looked very conceptual, but Skull and Bones had a lot shown, and it seemed like it had a pretty clear idea of what it was going to be, so I really don't get what happened there.

They just announced 3 months ago that its gonna come to early access in Q4 2022
They actually have a dev log with lots of updates about the game's design. There is plenty of updated gameplay footage now. Really excited about this one as the gameplay is described is feeling similar to Destiny and Dark Souls - both inspirations for my personal game project as well!
Wild from Wildsheep studio was a ps4 exclusive game announced in 2014 and we saw a gameplay reveal in 2015. Unfortunately nothing ever since... It was developed by Michel Ancel back in the day, he abandoned the project at some point. It really was and still is my top anticipated game of all time. I am praying that Sony will make it happen again.
This was the game I made a comment about and I thought would be talked about in the video but it wasn’t. Last time I tried to look something up in it there was news that it was still in the works and wasnt cancelled but that was in 2020 maybe end of 2019

Ubisoft seem like they might be getting themselves into a financial hole with the way the company keeps shouting about how great it'll be to have NFT's noone wants shoehorned into their games. The more money they drop into pushing that tech the less they'll have to put towards the actual games.
Skull&bones could have been out by now but it does seem like they've been holding it back because they can't work out how to milk the players after the initial buy in. Shame as all they really needed to do was create a set of new islands and oceans to be piratey in minus the nonsense of the assassin stuff.

Well I'm not too surprised System Shock 3 has gone dark due to the issues and delays the remake of System Shock 1 was having, not sure if it's the same team, but not even SS1 Remake has been out and since the last demo the devs seem to be really quiet and the release date got pushed back to the end of the year. So I'm guessing it'll be a long time before we see SS3.
As a Final Fantasy fan I'm already used to watch a trailer for a new game and say to myself: "Welp, see you in 5 or 10 years"

I love that pretty soon after this video was released, Skull and Bones got a massive leak and an official tweet saying "Keep your eyes on the horizon". Gameranx just manifested Skull and Bones back into existence
People need to remember that Obsidian isn't the company they were when they made New Vegas, they've even drifted a bit from who they were when making Outer Worlds. A game team gets its spirit and ethos from the developers making it and the turnover in the industry is *huge.*
I was really excited to play advance wars but a few days before release I found out it was delisted and pushed forward supposedly because it's "inappropriate" with the current russian/ukraine situation.
Ironically they've had this war of mine on sale for like the whole last month after saying that which is a game that is much more intense than a cartoony turn based strategy game.

When Ken Levine dissolved his studio after Bioshock Infinite we were supposedly going to get a new game from a new developer published through Take 2. I have heard NOTHING about this and I loved that series so much.

Also Granblue Fantasy ReLink, an action JRPG. Thought I saw somewhere on the internet that it could be coming this year but idk.

"Project Awakening" Is a game that looked amazing when it was announced i believe in 2018 it has a website that consists of a single video and a few screenshots. Super hyped when i first heard about it and now I'm just trying not to forget it still exists XD. Re;Fantasy by Atlus was announced in 2017. It's a new IP with very little update from it aside from the "in development", development has "reached its climax" statements, and apparently being caught up in other bigger projects that prevented them from working on it properly. I'm hoping there's some news on it this year, but I have almost no hope in that happening.
This made me think of Bloodlines 2. It was supposed to release two years ago, but at this point, I'm not sure it'll ever get released.
I would absolutely LOVE a modern Perfect Dark! Right now, if I want feature-rich, fun as hell FPS action, I go to the Borderlands games. But, the biggest thing about PD was how the levels were such interesting puzzles. I think it would be hard to create a fast paced puzzle FPS that isn't just another Immersive Sim (Deus Ex, Dishonored, and the rest). Doubly hard because all the free stuff that PD would throw at you for completing levels is usually the kind of stuff that carved out for DLC. They could borrow a bit from Borderlands and let you earn some things and pay for others... I feel like greed is king, in todays gaming market, though...

FF went down hill after they started being released on Xbox. Their entire combat mechanics shifted to becoming more and more action oriented. I really wanted to like FF15 after waiting two console generations, but I eventually uninstalled it about three hours in. FF7 Remake I got because it was a PS+ game one month and I honestly don't regret not buying it even though I beat it. I miss the turn-based JRPGs.

Skull and Bones had...or i guess has so much potential...The only AAA experience that exists like it is AC4 and ever since that all we got when it comes to open world pirate rpg's were mmo's or early access low budget pc strategy titles. Imagine a modern AAA pirate open world with tons of ship battles and island exploration and crew management. Maybe add some mythical stuff like the Kraken or the Scylla in there as special events as well instead of trying to fit them in recent AC games.

Yeah I was pretty hyped for Skull and Bones. When I saw the Sea of Thieves trailer, I told my friends "naw...I'll wait on Skull and Bones". Sadly...I have played Sea of Thieves because of the wait lol. I had Assassin's Creed Black Flag when I got the PS4 at release. I was saying then that if they gave me a game with nothing but the ship battles, I'd play it.

Project 1v1 by Gearbox Studios and the semi-recent Dead Space looking horror game that I forgot the name of. Project 1v1 was literally just a 1v1 game with small maps. It kinda felt like Unreal Champions in terms of shooting. It had a tech demo like 6 years ago and I never got word it was cancelled, but I guess it must've been
Elder Scrolls 6 was announced to show it was in development but also said they weren't saying anything until Starfeild launches.

it's not recent but, I've been looking forward to 5 years, an independent game called routine, developed by three people, company called lunar software that was scheduled to be released in March 2017 and never heard from again. It was a big promise for me. the trailer shown at E3 2012 was amazing and later another magnificent trailer too. Too bad it didn't go ahead.
Came here to comment this one as well. It's weird how it's the first thing I think of literally any time this subject is brought up. Really disappointed it never came out and seemingly the closest thing we have is Alien Isolation which is luckily a really great game.
I am ready for silksong when it comes. It's a very small team that's making it so I understand whatever delay they make but the game looks awesome and can't wait to play it.

Routine was a pretty interesting looking 1st person horror game announced at Gamescon in 2013, with a release date trailer in 2016, citing March 2017. The last update was March 23rd '17 announcing a small delay, and then complete radio silence. A damn shame, what we got looked interesting, and it even had Mick Gordon as the Audio Director (you can still view it on Gordons own website). The website for the game is still up, and the developer Lunar Software still has a functioning website as well.

So this will seem really random but hear me out. I go to a college called Ferris State University, and we recently had a media festival with a bunch of guest speakers. One of them was Robert Evans who is the Senior Character Modeler on the new Perfect Dark Remake. All he said about it was that it is still in the works and hopefully by holiday 2023 it will be out

Global Agenda was supposed to get a sequel, but then Hi-Rez Studios got busy with Smite and some other titles and it pretty much just kind of got forgotten about. The studio put together a test server earlier this year though, that some players accidentally found. No official word, but that seems like promising news. That was one of my favorite games of the 2010's.
Man, I'm waiting on Final Fantasy 16. The game looks exactly like how I wanted it. Going back to the whole castle and knight thing. A true fantasy!
Although I have heard more about it since, I have been waiting for many years for Scorn. I backed it up through BrightLocker who has since shut down. Thankfully the orders are still valid as my understanding is they were passed over to another company. But I have had the demo for the game for a long time now and am still eagerly waiting for the game’s full release.
It currently has an October release date, if you weren't aware.

Cyberpunk 2077 got developers scared to release anything.
I pre-ordered VtM: Bloodlines 2 Blood Moon Edition way back in March of 2020, it was scheduled for later that year, but they've since taken down pre-orders. The last update on the official website is from February 2021 and there hasn't been a peep since.
I'm surprised that the new Fable isn't anywhere near this list. I'm pretty sure it was announced the same time as Obsidian's game
I’ve been looking forward to the new Fable since the moment it was announced, and have been hoping for a new Fable since that old one with 4 heroes and 1 dungeon master being asymmetrical PvP got canceled.
I'm looking forward to Avowed and Perfect Dark. Avowed is most likely going to be awesome. Although I am a bit worried that Perfect Dark won't be as epic and memorable as the Nintendo 64 version we older folks knew and loved.
crazy how I felt like rewatching BG&E2 cinematic yesterday and this pops up. I feel with next gen hardware the game can finally get released on the level they want. most anticipated game for too long lol

Alan Wake 2 is an example too and hopefully they're actually working on it currently. I've been waiting for that game since ever and everytime we just hear announcements and promises. I have so many amazing memories and nostalgia with the first one which I played during my high school time and I can't believe that we're 12 years later already and still waiting for the sequel.
They only announced that 4 months ago so I think it will be a while until we see something.
@@ZombieNerd300 Yeah but the rumors about the sequel were literally circulating every year in the last 7 years. At this point I'm starting to have a hard time believing that it's actually coming out soon.

I remember watching the trailer for Scalebound years ago and thinking it was awesome. In this case it got canceled completely but I never knew why. It looked really good
Sadly it was cancelled because the staff weren't experienced enough to finish the multi-player (couldn't make it the way they promised) so it was pulled by Microsoft and its assists were used for another game instead

One that eventually got released but took several years was "The Last Guardian". It doesn't fit this list because it eventually came out, but it got announced soon after the launch of Shadow of the Colossus (mid-ps2 era), the announcement was for the new upcoming generation PS3, but only got actually delivered late-PS4 era. I heard the studio lost almost all of its employees, so that would explain why it delayed so much, but still...
I pre-ordered Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory. It became available for download, but when I went to do so, I got a notice that the keys were temporarily out of stock. It's been a couple of years. The game is still listed on Steam as "coming soon".

In regards to ff16, Naoki yoshida recently said the 16 is more or less finished development (it's currently in QA and debuggin phase) and they have a trailer to show off, likely sometime next month.
We might be getting a state of play/ summer games fest reveal for it soon
Fable 4. apparently the trailer came out back in 2020-2021 and then it just went dead silent.
i loved the fable series and it was a huge part of my gaming career, and i was sad that i missed the trailer's release but also sad when i found out that microsoft went radio silent with it! :(

One of the main two devs got pulled into the whole Gamergate thing over some comments he'd made in the past. That seems to have added to it moving to the background for a bit, along with it being a much longer development than they anticipated. You know, the usual thing of devs announcing a game far too early.
totally forgot about Fable.
I've been really excited for Way to the Woods (two deer whose antlers can glow exploring a post-apocalyptic setting) ever since they showed a trailer at one of Xbox's E3 conferences. Apparently, it's still in development so that's good.
Surprised not to see Digimon Survive here. At least both that and Silksong got announcements dates since the video, and news of '83's development being put on hiatus in favor of IGI Origins (whatever the hell that is) came only a couple weeks after this video went live
Avowed is the only MS 1st party game I'm interested in. It's a shame that Xbox console and physical games has DRM. It's a game that would be nice to own if it turns out good. Since ownership is out of the window, may as well get it on PC.
