#bristoldirtnationals #bristoldirt Wednesday races pulled ahead to 7AM! Good run in the heat, and had a top 10 going in the feature when a very avoidable wreck caught us.
Great Video. Bristol is not the place for attitude or playing check up on a track with speeds reaching 120 - 140 mph. You did a great job holding the line which saved you from the car behind you. Thanks for Posting. There seems to be a lot more attitude from younger drivers lately which is being perpetrated by the lack of track officials and flagmen doing their jobs. Just my observation from watching World of Outlaws dirt races across U.S. in 2020
Bad ending to a great event , you can always say you raced Bristol when a lot of us racers have not. Take the good and have great memories with those and hope you get back to racing soon , i enjoy watching your channel and keep the good fight going .
Also new to your channel and really enjoyed your videos with more too come hopefully, bummer deal for sure but like my dad said when he raced “if you can’t take it home and fix it, don’t bring it to the track “ thanks again for some of us North of the border in 3 feet of snow 👍
Your car looks better than mine I rolled 6 times at boot hill I got to get a whole new car lol glad your ok I am too good luck to the rest of yalls season
Good video, loved when you said be prepared to wreck or stay out. Been doing Dirtracing, Rallying and Pure Track racing, wrecked cars in all of them its just the name of the game, if you dont try to go fast you lose.
Man that sucks. Sorry to see it end that way. That was the main reason, outside of the cost, to why we didn't go. Well I hope you can get her fixed up quick and best of luck this year. If we go to Boone this season I will hope to see you there as well.
New to your channel and couldn't agree more about the poor decision to go green, I was watching live and it was clear they missed it, Bad call. Anyway, look forward to future races and as a retired late model driver (injury) I can't get enough of channels like yours so I'll be watching from Missouri. Great job wheeling and by all appearances the car looked like it performed well. Hopes nothing got to tore up so git'er fixed and lets go racing.
I have been to a lot of short track races all over the country. All the promoters seem to worry more about time than saftety.. I have also been an offical for the NASCAR WEEKLY RACING SERIES. You are right it doesn't have to be this way. I look forward to seeing more on your racing.
Great video coverage, I love your attitude, I'm unhappy how the race turned out for you, continued success, and I look forward to watching another race.
Great content guys! Really injoyed the updates this week 👍 Bristol can tear up alot of cars no madder the series. Sorry you guys couldn't stay untill Saturday what a tough break. Your right about the saftey vs just looking over your equipment to see where the competition is gonna be that's ridiculous waving a green flag with two tangled race cars on the backstretch. Over all like you said I think Bristol dirt event's are great for the sport but the event staff needs to realize there will be delays and rain at some point that will put you behind schedule. So basically next year just run the modified and the 604 crate and the super late models and not have 1500 race cars there if they are worried about a time constraints because that definitely is going to happen. I'm with ya bud on all that. If your worried about staying on schedule next year make the street stocks and some other divisions on a different weekend. They will get worked out good luck to you guys and safe travels back to Michigan 👍
I wasn’t to impressed with your talent in the first video of Bristol heat races. And when I saw the crash in the thumbnail, I actually thought you got tore up because you might have been in the way. But in this video,in that first heat, you completely changed my mind. Backing the corner up and just sending it, is what I love to see. When you get in the rhythm, each lap, letting off the throttle less and less until it’s matted almost the entire track. That’s racing. We usually hear that phrase only when something bad happens, but I think the phrase “ it is what it is”, Has pretty much got that handled. I hate to see your car tore up, but you got another sub. I Look forward to some more videos in the future.
RPMs dropped less than 100 on entry according to tach replay. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'll show the good and the bad. I was rusty as hell in that first heat, and I'll be the first to say it!
There will be no time off time, the rain has mist that up,, and thus the whole week will be late, kool nice , love it , this is the big time, kool thanks 6 am, wow, thanks BigAl California.
Thanks for posting your experience at Bristol motor speedway Yeah that's a bummer that you had some trouble there but it looks like you had a great equipment and great people surrounding you
I couldn’t tell really what happened from the video without you explaining it. I was watching lap times on race monitor and suddenly it stopped. Sorry about your car. We have a late model that’s ready sitting in the shop this week, truth be told, I am really glad I didn’t try and run this because I don’t have a quad or really any way to bring it if I did. Too many cars at this thing. Going out there to spectate today (Friday). Hope that your ride home went smoothly.
Your absolutely right tho. I agree with you 100%.I'm really surprised nobody didn't get hurt there,or killed.taking those lightweight cars at those speeds.was this a test to see what chassis would hold up etc..I just subscribed. great run tho.and much respect.
Interesting to see the teams perspective on this. I knew by the second or third heat their would be a ton of cars not driving off the track. There seems to be so much hurry up and wait as well. I think maybe they should split this event into separate weeks for modifieds with street stock and late models with maybe the hornets. Restarts are insane and often not lined up correctly cuz they’re on such a time crunch. The racing is great as a fan but I can’t imagine how much money is being spent fixing chassis and on new motors. Good luck in the future racing, I’m enjoying what I’ve seen from your back catalogue so far.
Just watched the whole video. I totally agree you and “safety” vs getting the events in. As a fan I thought there was some questionable green flags and non yellow calls just to avoid slowing things down. I love this event but perhaps they need to reconsider the format or cap numbers.
You told it like it really was. I agree with everything you said. Sorry you're not able to finish. If I were there I would help you repair it. Good luck in the future , drive safe going home. By all means get some rest. Thank you for sharing your experience.
As a fellow driver here in NY, I'm with yah with the safety aspect. Without us drivers thet is no show, going green with stopped cars on the track was Galactica Stupid. Well I was expressing concerns months ago about the very thing you were alluding too at the end of your vlog. Since as I pointed out in the last vlog, I have experience with what takes place at these larger tracks. And it has been that important to me that people realize what they are getting into. Because it maybe Bristol, yet it is still a big half mile pavement track with dirt on it...
and I did from the racer's side of things, but I expect the promoter to run the show with the level of safety that he said he was going to run it with... not whatever that was.
No starter should ever start a race when cars are stopped or not running at relatively safe pace with other cars. If they are the only one ensuring a big track like that is clear before they go green that is a huge problem. As a former racer some flagmen and safety crews scared the hell out of me. Everything from not throwing a caution in time or allowing people from the pits standing in the openings of the track or allowing cars to enter either in a race or hot laps/qualifying when the track isn't clear to do so. Heck 500 outlaw classes allow them to race back to the yellow which is stupid beyond belief. They shouls have never dropped the green in this instance. The cars were clearly higher up on the track and they should have seen them.
Looked like a FUN race until the terrible mistake by the Track Officials...Glad that nobody was critically injured, 🙏 Prayers go out for the Driver with the broken ribs and collapsed lung (reports) Stay Safe and Play Healthy
I found out one of the stopped cars was another local from Muskegon Michigan , His name is Brandon Taipalus , he was checked out and will be okay but the mod looks really bad . there was no talk of guys banging on the caution on their page that I am aware of ? Another one of our local mods from Muskegon , Michigan got completely destroyed yesterday #74 Mike Epplet . I dont think he was in that race but I saw pics on facebook and it was so bad I was worried Mike got hurt . Luckily he's okay but damn , that place has been a bad deal for a lot of racers at this event . Glad you were not torn up worse or hurt . I have to add , I worked on boats for years , a boat is also a risk , they have their accidents too , sinking , fires , dealing with drunks etc
Thunderbird and I96 drivers? This track is why Hartford Speedway is a 3/8ths now lol it was huge fast and the walls dont move no matter hard you hit them Rick Beebe used to say lol
I agree 💯with you I’ve been watching on racexr and you can hear race control in the back ground doesn’t sound very professional at all and you can definitely tell all they care about is hustling through the event and that’s it. I understand the whole rain issues but damn
What year(s) did you go to Boone? I went in 2001. The year it rained, and flooded everything, pretty much every night. Plus the people I was there working with had an argument over using their good NCRA engine, or continue with their weekly power plants. Although I did get a upgraded room at the Inn we were staying at, because the place did not reserve my room. So I got a room with a full kitchen, and bathroom. Which is something positive I am grasping on too. Due to the fact I cannot say the to much of my experience at Boone was that exciting. Since to put it plainly, that was a good year for me, between all the different drivers I was working with. Because I was apart of over 50 main feature wins, and 28 of those were in a row. Which was out of 134 races that I went to that year. So I was having high expectations...🙄😂
Cure at Bristol for the chipping is change the chip. With the lack of tech , no problem 😊. Sorry about the car 😔🇺🇲🏁 . TV even showed the 2 cars on the back stretch when it went green. I told my son in law then that it was going to be bad. It was. And you were 100 percent correct with what you said sir. 👏
Dude I would have made Bruton Smith cover that damage being his official can't watch what's going on like they are supposedly trained to do. What a sad effort they are doing. Better luck next time. You were running good too. Dammit!
You hit the nail right on the head. That restart should've never happened. In the time they spent cleaning up the wreckage and tending to the drivers, they could've gotten a majority of the program in. But instead they put the show over saftey.
Hey 1st off Welcome to the club that got to run Bristol on dirt 👍sorry you had bad luck following two drivers that can't grow up you had a video before Showing some drivers don't have the respect of the drivers they race this is one of those times they should pay out of their pocket for their foolishness
I'm not into fiscal retribution for on track incidents. It sucks, but I can't expect anyone to help me out of this situation. When I spoke to one of the guys that got stalled he made it sound like they were beating on each other on purpose... sounds more like they just got caught in the accordion effect as the field tightened into formation. That's gonna happen in a 30 car field, and should have been expected... but none of us are perfect. Thanks for watching!
What heck you will need to change a tire on top of wrecked race cars all stacked around your pits, I see three wrecked cars layingall on the pit lane , nice , thanks, BigAl California.
Sorry to see you wreck. The problem with these events is that there are drivers with more sponsorship and money than brains and ability. With the number of drivers and cars that they had there, they need to figure out a way for drivers to qualify to get there and race.
I somewhat agree. That's a double edged sword, because honestly if it were invite only, I wouldn't have the credentials to be here... but I'm capable. I do think they should be absolutely ruthless about rough driving and procedures. Instead they don't even pay attention to lining up anything other than the first 2 rows.
Enjoyed the videos. It seems the mods are super loose and real twitchy. They really need to have some qualifiers to put more experienced drivers on the track, then again car count is what mattered most.
I saw an opening when the yellow car spun, but also right then Marty Clark hit the pile and it caught my rf. Darn... aaaand remember thre camera is 2ft above my eyes.
I've been saying for a month now. "It'd be a miracle if someone during the month isn't seriously hurt or killed." I'm praying for all of the drivers during the month of Bristol & have been posting these warnings on every single Bristol dirt video I can find to spread awareness. Idk what can be done tho but that's not for me to figure out. I do know my biggest fear was a car wrecking & then stopping at the end of a straightaway & it being super dusty & another car T-bones the stopped car. I literally think it's a 50/50 chance of lose of life for the month. Lets pray its not
Also the biggest danger is the drivers eagerness to win. They won't be driving normally. They want to showcase "how much talent" they have to the world & drivers will take chance they normally wouldn't. A true recipe for disaster
@@highinthedirt wow I noticed as I watch the water truck and then only work the cushions which makes no since the water truck seem to be going 70 mph it seems. Can’t lay water going that fast. Very unsafe for you guys. The track prep seems crappy. For the racers. Thanks for the response
Sucks that happened especially when it was completely and totally avoidable. That is scary to think they turned it green with two cars stuck together sitting on the track. That could have killed the drivers parked on the track and possibly the drivers racing down on them. Good thing is no one was injured and sucks for all of you who tore up your rigs.
So I read about this wreck and a few guys went to hospital one with broken ribs and a punctured lung. What the hell was the flag guy doing and not throwing yellow they were locked on backstretch in middle of the track. Bristol dropped the ball on this amd and messed up bad. Glad u avoided the worst of it tho.
Buddy of mine was involved in the wreck, he has 6 broken ribs and a hole in his lung. I believe he is still in the hospital. Definitely should have thrown that yellow, cars would have been torn up.
Actually, 18K was brake checked and had no way around it when 41 got caught up under him. There wasn’t any “wanting to play bumper cars” about it. Those two drivers didn’t cause any of that wreck. Those officials should’ve been watching the track and called a caution long before when the lead cars were still 3/4 of a lap away.
Hard to believe the track can make money to be open on entry fees. Always thought it was butt's in the seats. Guessing I was wrong. They don't need fans at all.
That going to need some major fixin, better get busy, new Aarms , and other stuff, a boat, oh yes, oh yes and no one could see anything to dusty, it would of been totally different if some one got hurt, oh yes , no one is going dis you , if they do they should not be on the channel, I say good riddance if they bog you , you did fine , the track will stop doing dirt if they get to much bitching, they will just tell all of the dirt guys ,( no thanks we don’t need you here anymore) so y’all probably should not complain too loud , that is if you want to have dirt on Bristol again, you did good I love what Ravi g you did do , thanks y’all praise Jesus grace Christ amen, now we need to see HTF hunt the front late model get to do some good, they run Saturday I think, not sure, anyway thanks BigAl California.

Because I was apart of over 50 main feature wins, and 28 of those were in a row. Which was out of 134 races that I went to that year. So I was having high expectations...🙄😂
2016-2018, will be back there in 2021 I hope.
Id be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it. Lol
Sucks about the wreck....good luck this season.
Thanks
You have a great attitude for racing and you will be successful. Soooo lets get you to Eldora. Lol
I ran eldora once in 2010 in a 360 sprint, it's fun. I'd go back in a heartbeat if they had IMCA
Just found your TH-cam love the content. Man that sucks your car got totaled.
Cars stopped on the back stretch, they went green on the front stretch, came around a hit the stopped cars? Really?
Really
Dude I would have made Bruton Smith cover that damage being his official can't watch what's going on like they are supposedly trained to do. What a sad effort they are doing. Better luck next time. You were running good too. Dammit!
Pretty sure he's not involved, but either way I'm not going to sue anyone. Thanks for watching.
Just found the channel. Hell of a job
Thank you
You hit the nail right on the head. That restart should've never happened. In the time they spent cleaning up the wreckage and tending to the drivers, they could've gotten a majority of the program in. But instead they put the show over saftey.
Exactly, cost 2 hours to try saving 40sec
Hey 1st off Welcome to the club that got to run Bristol on dirt 👍sorry you had bad luck following two drivers that can't grow up you had a video before
Showing some drivers don't have the respect of the drivers they race this is one of those times they should pay out of their pocket for their foolishness
@@highinthedirt I agree I go to race not fight well I should say I did go to race haha Thanks for sharing enjoying the videos
So they cover the asphalt with dirt? That must be a mess wet or dry.
naww man, they fixed it! :)
Nice job sorry for the wreck but you can say I raced bristol I will keep watching
Thanks for watching Larry
What heck you will need to change a tire on top of wrecked race cars all stacked around your pits, I see three wrecked cars layingall on the pit lane , nice , thanks, BigAl California.
someone needs to be paying closer attention , you guys have respectable speed on that track , wow. Did you like that gear change though?
Not with that track condition, I do think it would have helped in the heat race
They really need to have some qualifiers to put more experienced drivers on the track, then again car count is what mattered most.
mods are a unruly machine to drive on a hard unforgiving tire... thats why I love them
I was curious on how much stagger you run, seems to me like he would really flatten it out maybe less than an inch..?
half inch here, trailed the LR 1/2in too
Great to see all the fans in the stands nothing like racing infront of a full house
You definitely would've missed that wreck if you could've seen through the dust. Nice job though. You looked pretty quick.
Sorry about the car man. Been there done that. Better luck next time.
it happens, part of the game
All that dust wow
And the camera is about 2 feet above my eyes.
@@highinthedirt wow I noticed as I watch the water truck and then only work the cushions which makes no since the water truck seem to be going 70 mph it seems. Can’t lay water going that fast. Very unsafe for you guys. The track prep seems crappy. For the racers. Thanks for the response
Anybody know how much it cost to enter a car for the race at Bristol
Sucks that happened especially when it was completely and totally avoidable. That is scary to think they turned it green with two cars stuck together sitting on the track. That could have killed the drivers parked on the track and possibly the drivers racing down on them. Good thing is no one was injured and sucks for all of you who tore up your rigs.
Damn. Sorry I jinxed you buddy. Got a shop link where you'll ship us race shirts?
No jinxes allowed, pm me
Sure hated to see that hope you get the car fixed back soon man
So I read about this wreck and a few guys went to hospital one with broken ribs and a punctured lung.
I messaged with him yesterday, I'm in his corner. Hope he's gonna be ok.
Speak the TRUTH Brother, but be ‘forewarned’,... The TRUTH is not very ‘popular’ especially when you are so RIGHT about it.
Im used to it, I don't have time for BS
That isn't on you or any of the drivers this was diffenitly on the track 100%
I have had 2 cars get totaled out due to promoters wanting to get the show in vs keeping drivers safe. I feel your pain.
Bummer
Glad you are ok! Huge failure by race control and agreed many people could have gotten hurt.
When I spoke with him that's not exactly how it was described to me.
im about to get a boat because of this !
You don't think the promoter had anything to do with it?
I guess I should clarify, for this event when I say the "track" I mean Mike VanGenderen. He is calling the races from the tower if I'm not mistaken.
@@highinthedirt is Mr. VanGenderen the race promoter?
Looks fun sorry u got crashed
WHAT CLASS DO YOU RUN?
IMCA Modified normally, "Modified" for Bristol Dirt Nationals rules
You knocked his door off
Almost missed him
Marnetta posts are coming from her hubby by the way
Agree that wasn't the smartest move from the flagman & track officials
Gotta Luv a Gal that knows about Vise_Grips! A++
she's a keeper, knows her way around a modified better than a lot of dudes
@@highinthedirt And she's a great Mom to Daisy. :-)
I was impressed when she asked if he wanted a new pair of calipers
@@McGuigan21 she's better working on this car than any average dude would be... it's a learned skill
