Neil Young made that comment decades back. Four Way Street I think. Impressive that Dave knew it so well. Having a f**king hard time right now and these two angels save me. Again. Thank you Gillian and Dave.
did anyone else notice that David borrows the exact "starts out slow and fizzles out altogether" quote that Neil Young makes on the live "Four Way Street" album before he plays "Don't Let It Bring You Down"? i tell others that Gillian is the female version of Neil Young.. and this proves it without a doubt.. love her!
Thank you, Doug! You captured this emotionally powerful song perfectly. I’ve been listening to it all night. Can you tell me how you captured video AND audio so well? What camera did you use? Did you use a separate microphone? If so, which one? It put me on my knees
Thank you for your kind words. The performances that night certainly affected me! I have settled on a Nikon D5300 (3-4 generations old) that I bought as new old stock, about $400, ebay. The lens is the Nikon DX 70-300 mm zoom, ebay, new, $168. The mic is a Takstar SGC-598 ($28, Amazon) in the hot shoe, set flat EQ and +10 dB. My mic was just picking up the sound systen in the venue which was high quality. All that sitting on top of a monopod above the crowd. I underexpose some because the camera metering does not understand the scene.
Thank you for capturing and posting this gem. It gave me absolute chills. Magical.
