      @@snappysnap955 Sugar is the poison of the worlds population. Until the slave trade we never even used that rotten stuff. We never saw potatoes, we never saw rice and corn was merely little more than grass as was wheat. Now we shove it down our necks like it's the only thing left for us to eat. The popular view is we should eat eleven servings of this junk every day and you wonder why the planet is so sick? This has only been happening since the second WW when sugar became so prominent in our diet.
      Now listen to your good ol' Doctor McDougall. Constantly blaming meat and fish for the problem. Have you seen his interview: " An Explosive Interview With Vegan Expert Dr. John McDougall." Very enlightening.

      @@toni4729 the problem really is not in the Whole Foods form, it's in the refined and processed form that it's a problem. But what I notice is people are willing to lose their minds about anything and everything and divide on anything they can think of. We're seeing it played out in every conceivable way on the world stage. People also stuffed animals down their throat like gluttons. Animals that are raised and deplorable and inhumane conditions. People can't get enough of that factory-farmed flesh on the end of their Fork. Now I don't begrudge someone eating meat or fish. But you don't need to eat at 3 times a day 7 days a week. I'm not a liberal by the way, far from it. So this is not someone who's concerned about cow farts. But I am disgusted at the gluttonous consumerism of animals. Back in the day people ate what they raised in their Gardens and maybe they had a Sunday chicken. They weren't cramming animals down their throat morning noon and night.

      @@snappysnap955 You know it's funny you should say that. I'm pretty much a carnivore only because I'm allergic to the natural defenses in vegetation. This is not as unusual as you may think however my point is because of this I find I only eat one meal a day. It isn't much. Perhaps Eggs and bacon or a couple of slices of salmon. This is not unusual for the likes of a carnivore. We're not pigs. No-one who eats meat ever eats meat three times a day. You'll find more likely that they eat stupid things like cornflakes for breakfast loaded with sugar. This is the wrong thing to do. Cookies too, and desert. All these sugary foods are really bad news.

    • @SciSciToys
      @SciSciToys 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Ive read Dr McDougalls work and read his website and read about some people who have had hiatal hernia and acid reflux and then healed, many have hiatal hernias and some dont need meds, Ive reduced my meds to half 10mg instead of 20mg but do have to be super careful what I eat, I find that doing this I can go maybe a month before I feel damage in my throat where I get tot the point that eating bread is difficult as it seems it gets stuck as it goes down, when Im on the meds fine, what I think happens is that on meds the esophagus heals but off meds I get slgiht relfux which burns the espophagus.
      The last week been having palpitations daily and this could also be due to acid suppression, after years of this then you dont absorb magnesium, B6, B12 and maybe potassium and these are what the kidneys use to make cortisone/adrenaline etc, if the adrenals are wacked and exhausted then the kidneys have a back up system called fight/flight hence palpitations.
      In the past Ive gotten palpitations right after a fish and salad and a few days ago had a steak on its own (mistake), fish and red meat are tough on the kidneys and so now Ive stopped meat/eggs/dairy/gluten and bought various sweet potatoes and greens, rice and will do some relaxation sessions, I did coffee enemas for 11yrs and stopped recently and had a bad habit of having to watchold comedy sitcoms on my laptops before going to bed and didnt go to sleep unless they were on, this Ive done for maybe 10yrs, last night was the first night I went to sleep without the laptop, I had the fluttering, turning left and right, went to bed at 10pm (usually go to bed 2am) probably didnt get to slep until 2am but I forced myself to sleep in a dark room and so all these habits for sure have hurt me and my adrenals for sure, I also stopped drinking caffeine, I think Ive been in a drug induced dream for the past decade.

    This is excellent coverage to understand the essentials of the science behind health studies and the relation to what people eat. Every time I see severe misunderstandings of science it’s always from the lack of people’s knowledge of science (scientific method, statistical analysis, how to find and read studies) vs belief and authority used as understanding of reality. Here, people who are not familiar with the science can pick up a descent understanding for how reality is evaluated just by listening to a conversational presentation. The repetition of using primary sources, where to find them and how to check the sources is a great gift to help people be able to make good decisions. Thank you for putting this information out for the public!

    I liked the part about Dr. Heimlich. I, however, respectfully disagree with this type of diet as it didn't work for me. I just became sicker, more overweight, and needed more meds.😢. After six decades of the sad American diet I felt like death warmed over. August of 2021 I gave it to God and started Keto and never looked back consuming grass fed beef and butter, wild caught fish, and organic cruciferous vegetables. Today, I'm off all meds including statins,proton pump inhibitors pain releivers and others 😅. My vitals are great, blood work looking better now than my whole adult life, and I'm at my optimum weight. Many people that know me don't recognize me ,but when the do they say I look amazing 😊. I used to avoid mirrors now I like the way I look!!! Now by all means, ANIMALS AND OUR ENVIRONMENT SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT!!!

    Maybe I'm mistaken, but don't we "know" that sugar feeds cancer because... well... cancer cells only feed off of glucose? And that's why, in order to find cancer and tumors, patients drink a radioactive sugar? Right? I was of the understanding that cancer cannot feed on ketones, which is why the zero-carb, high-fat, super-low-protein, is called "the cancer protocol". Right? And doesn't fasting for days at a time, in full blown ketosis, actually break down tumors through the process of Autophagy? Right???

    I would love to see Dr Eric Berg debate keto with him sometime. I have used both approaches to control my hypoglycemia, and both work despite being total opposites, the reasoning is simple high insulin levels stem from combining carbs with saturated fats, reduce either one to near zero levels and you keep insulin in check. I personally feel better on keto but it is more difficult and expensive to follow, beans and rice is WAY cheaper than pasture raised beef, nuts, and avocados. In my long jurney I have learned one thing for sure though, everyone is wired differently, some people can consume simple carbs all day every day and never have an issue, while others develop metabolic disease from it, and just as accurately some people thrive on keto while others get sick from it, so when Dr McDougall says his way is the perfect way for everyone to eat I have to disagree with his over simplification or the subject.

      Insulin sensitivy+ high carbs= no diabetes.
      Insulin resistance+low carbs= no diabetes.
      Insulin resistance+ high carbs= diabetes.
      The key here is don't combine too much fat and carbs, that is the cause of diabetes, and they are more dangerous when they are refined and proccesed.
      That's how nature works, thanks to insulin resistance is how too much animals and humans on polar areas can survive, insulin resistence is an adaptation to areas where food is needed to be stored as a fat to survive on fasting periods, without it, you can't make an the excess of sugar of carbs or proteins and for then be converted as a fat. Some people have genes that allow them to switch on the two states (insulin sensivity and insulin resistance), that people can do well with both diets, but some people about 30% to 40% can't make that switch, and they always will be insulin resistance, and that is not a genetic deffect, that is an adaptation to large periods of fasting like in polar areas or deserts, they have no option that to eat no carbs, they don't need them, but others we need them , like me, that is the reason of why people succes or failed on both diets. We all are differents, humans are unique, being the same specie we could make something that other species not, and it's to live on a different geographic and challenging areas, for example skimos and hadzas. If you want to learn more about it, read the methabolic typing by Bill Wollcot, where he says that one man's food is another's poison, you know when something is true because always math up with your paradigm, and the Bill Wollcot's paradigm is one of the best that I've ever seen.

So, explain to me, how it is possible for a human to be a herbivore, Or are they a 'meat industry' myth? Or do they have hidden under snow fruit farms? which are you? a paranoid nutter or just a fool?

    Why does the graph of increase in sugar and other refined carbs mirror the graph of heart disease and cancer?
    BTW I'm not against starchy veg or other complex carbs (I eat them but also do occasional mini fasts to cycle from a insulin/anabolic state to a glucagon/catabolic state). We've always eaten animals so the problem can't lie there.
    Unfortunately in 1982, the year of Dr McDougall's quoted NRC study, researchers didn't have to disclose industry payments and it is now known that the sugar (and vegetable oils) industries poured massive amounts of money into research to get results they wanted.

    I felt this would be supported by the food industry’s. I have cut my carbs and my health has improved. Maybe it is just a calorie reduction. One common line is oils and fats. The oils and fats I have now are natural fats. I know I don’t get bloated anymore, my skin feels the best it’s ever been. And I have lost 13kg in 4 months. I suppose time will tell, while I have open ears, the correlation between modern foods and cancer is scary.
    My brother in-law died of cancer and he was very much a modern diet person with lots of sugar and modern food.
    Maybe my mum and dad have had it always right, eat in moderation, eat natural foods,
    Keep away from fast foods. My dad is 83 and sharp as a tack and my mum is well as well.

Normal cells are able to thrive on ketones but cancer cells are not able. Therefore when sources of glucose are removed most, if not all cancers go into remission

I was desperate and turned to TH-cam. I became vegan and followed this doctor and many other propaganda medical "experts". Unfortunately, 4 yrs after becoming a youtube worshiper VEGAN I was diagnosed with a fatty liver. I developed lines on my face, saggy eyes and fainted a few times. I lost weight fast on this doctor's advice and due to the rapid weight loss, I damaged my liver and became malnourished. I also developed IBS because of the high fibre these doctors BS about. The fact I gave up almost everything that is animal based messed up my health. My motto is now that a lesson learnt is one less regret...you move on and that's what I'm doing. I have learnt that this youtube community of health experts are liars and are slowly killing the mass population. Before following youtube medical experts I was fine and here I am now with a sick liver. JUST EAT EVERYTHING IN MODERATION and limit sugars.

      Buy brown instead of white rice? The brown is better than the white but that's mostly bcz of the extra fiber content but if you have white rice with high fiber veggies you really don't need the brown rice. Same thing with brown bread vs white but why even eat any rice or bread. The body basically needs fats/oils n proteins for the macros and about 300grams non-starchy veggies daily for the micros and your diabetic conditions will gradually improve. But you wanna drink fruit juice. Why? You're not a kid anymore after your body stops growing it can't take the sugar/carbs so just get over it !!!

      Sugar is awesome and you know it. In fact the meat and dairy industry gets a raging hard on when people demonize sugar cause then all that's left is fat. And afterall "studies" shows saturated fat is much healthier than vegetable fats. That one really get their nipples hard I guarantee it. I do wonder how much they pay Hollywood to show children spitting out vegetables at the dining table though. In the movie "Inside out" they had to change the girl spitting out broccoli with a different veggie that was more common in Japan. Intresting isn't it? Movies isn't about telling a story. It's about behavior modification. And paid for by the meat and dairy industry. Durianrider have yet to get any health problems and he consume like a kilo of sugar a day for a decade! Oh right the papa meat and mama dairy said he's crazy and you bought it.

      You lose weight, because the body is in starvation mode and uses up the fat (stored or not stored), as he said... but sadly, you cannot be in starvation mode for eternity and it is very hard to avoid all carbs, which is necessary to maintain ketosis. Once you eat differently again the body starts to use sugars again and immediately stores all extra fat, which leads to the yo-yo-effect.

      DG I think that you have it the wrong way round. It does not matter what some chiropractor claims. What is important is what the science shows. And just calling some fats "healthy fats" does not mean that they are healthy fats or that eating concentrated fats of any kind is healthy.
      Where is the evidence? Bullshit is cheap and many conartists make a living out of it. Just hoping, wishing or asserting that a particular type of fat is healthy isn't enough. We should ask these people to show us the evidence - not some spiel about how they just "must" be healthy.
      McDougal quotes evidence and his interpretation of the facts seems to be shared by the most credible health authorities. If you think some obscure chiropractor knows more about cancer than the US National Cancer Institute, the Mayo Clinic, the Canadian Cancer Association and professional academic cancer researchers, then you should really have some very strong evidence to back that view.

    • @tomgoff7887
      @tomgoff7887 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DG I am pretty sure that the US National Cancer Institute does not treat cancer patients let alone make money from doing so.
      In any case, even if your criticisms were true, that would not mean that people like Scmidt are automatically correct. As I have written before, where is the evidence? Without good evidence, such claims are either wishful thinking or plain bullshit.

    People should avoid fat AND fructose! My allergy (Cholinergic Urticaria) and acne have significantly improved after I stopped eating fructose. I think human beings are not supposed to eat large amounts of fruit per day (and should really avoid table sugar!). Glucose from grains and legumes is precious to the body, but fructose is not. It may not feed cancer, but it certainly feeds other diseases.

    • @nickmurray9193
      @nickmurray9193 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Fructose when accompanied with fiber (like in fruit) is not an issue. Dr. Michael Greger has a video on the topic, fruit sugar is VERY different to the concentrated corn syrup we eat in sweets.

    • @redxix88
      @redxix88 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To me it was a big issue. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to it, but limiting fructose helped my allergy considerably more that limiting fat. I was already a low fat vegan when I made this change and I will never go back.

    • @nickmurray9193
      @nickmurray9193 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are certainly people who are more sensitive to fructose. Not very many, but it definitely happens. Personally I'm the other way around. Whenever I eat more fruit during the summer time, my allergies (specifically my itchy eyes) aren't as bad

    • @redxix88
      @redxix88 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Before I made this change I only ate fructose sources with fiber (apples, pears, bananas, etc) and I struggled with gas and bloating. My urticaria actually got worse when I went vegan because I significantly increased fruit consumption. The doctors told me there was nothing I could do except take antihistamines...
      Fruit is a lot sweeter now than it used to be, it rots your teeth and there are no nutrients that you can't get from other sources. We are eating WAY too much fruit nowadays (fruit juice is even worse because it has no fiber!). You are overloading your liver with all the fructose.
