Bro what? None of these songs come close to 20+ of the original trilogy songs in my opinion. After Hours is a good album, but it's not on the same level as Trilogy.

Selfishness vs. selflessness. Regret vs. forgiveness. Death and afterlife vs. rebirth. Chaos vs. peace. The after hours vs. the dawn. What comes next fascinates me.

I wish nothing compares would've made the album instead of being a bonus track, but this album helped me thru the pandemic and a breakup at the same time. So it's a 10/10 for me

the amazing thing is that he sings in very different styles. whether it's dark rnb to retrosynth style, and it all sounds beautiful in its own way
quarantine 2020 was a time to be alive especially when this album came out.
A little fun fact, so able said in an interview that the ending of faith depicts a moment from his past, him being in the back of a police car after getting in a fight while being drunk, he said that him being on that cop car was the lowest point of his life, where he rethough all of his decisions, deep stuff.

After hours is The Weeknds best song ever IMO. It’s The Weeknd at his absolute peak and some of the best production I’ve ever heard.
I just can't put any of these songs above a single song in Trilogy. It's good music, but I just can't feel the same way about it like I did in 2011 when I first heard his stuff.

@@JonathanMiamii to each their own I guess. I do respect The Weeknd for trying new sounds and just making music that he likes instead of conforming (mostly), so I can’t be too let down. His new stuff is still great, but for now I’ll stick with Trilogy for the most part

Heartless, Faith, Blinding Lights and After Hours. First listen experience is out of this world.
*Hearing songs on this album and Dawn FM live is something I’ll never forget. The album was already very cinematic, but live it was an out of body experience . With Mike Deans synths, the music became entrancing. Excellent album*

Love how much you loved Faith. I think it’s one of his most underrated songs and arguably one of the best he’s ever made. I debate whether this or Wicked Games is my personal favorite

I feel like people hate Blinding lights too much. It's the first song I ever listened from him and I knew in an instant I had to look at this guy. It still remains my 3rd favorite from the album. I get teary eyed when I remember the first time I listened to his beautiful voice:)
The transition from Faith into Blinding Lights is literally to die for.
Blinding Lights is actually my favorite Weeknd song so I'm not even close to tired of it. I still listen to it every week. I think it's just a perfect pop song that I can never get tired of, kinda like Billie Jean
The Weeknd dropping Blinding Lights as a single before the album and literally everyone listening to it and thinking it was about him being blinded by the “media lights” and such, was genius. Cos then the true fans listen to it after the ending of Faith and realize there’s WAY more to it
I’m gonna watch this later simply because I like to read what the community says about it and I’ll wait for more people to comment, this is definitely my favorite album of this decade, ir helped me go through tough times
I think After Hours is one of his best most cohesive projects. Alone Again is such a good opener and Until I bleed Out is such a good closer when you realize he’s dying and going to purgatory in Dawn FM. I always find myself going back to it when driving at night. My fav songs are definitely Faith and After hours. The music videos also give the album a new dimension XO
as a storyline I think after hours is better but as an album set including transitions and effect, I think Dawn Fm is more cohesive
Since you can not decide whether After Hours or Until I Bleed Out is the better closer, make sure you check out the bonus tracks Nothing Compares, Missed You and Final Lullaby. These song close it all out even better imo

Many artists have tried to recreate the authentic vibe of 80s Pop, but only few did it so well like Abel with Save Your Tears, In Your Eyes and Blinding Lights. As an 80s kid I could really imagine this songs blasting out of the radio along the likes of "Never Ending Story" and "When The Rain Begins To Fall" on a sunny day in 1984.:)
Please do the 3 bonus tracks to After Hours too, Final Lullaby is the true closer to this album. Also please do the Live at So-Fi album it's amazing! Keep up the great vids 👍

@@turtleboy35 That's fair, I love both tracks as endings tbh. Personally I just feel Final Lullaby is a better ending just because he's putting the idea of them being together and the mental images of their past to bed, I just think it's the perfect ending to the album.

After Hours is my fav song of all time from the Weeknd, the moment when I listened to it as a single on the day it dropped, it was just a whole new experience musically for me, I don't remember listening to a song with such build up atmosphere before.
Also Until I bleed out is heavily underrated to my opinion , that song is so intense and it has the perfect music video to represent it, whenver I listen to it when I am heavily down *that is rare I promise* I feel myself dying like him, specially with those suffocating sounds in the background.

If you want to know my honest opinion of Blinding Lights as a 0.05% fan of Abel then this is it:
It is not only his best song ever, it’s probably the best song of this generation.
It’s not as deep or complex as some of his other work (Kiss Land/HoB) for example, but i don’t care when it comes to this song. There is just something so unbelievably special about the melody, rhythm and feel of Blinding Lights that makes me unable to get tired of it. Its probably at this point my most listened to song ever at this point, i still have the same euphoric feeling when i listen to it as i had at first listen. Statistically the GOAT, and subjectively imo, the 🐐.
I became a weeknd fan with this album...from then,I have dig into his past discography and After is still my favorite with trilogy being second

As someone who has been listening to every weeknd song for a long time you start to go from having a top 5 to a top 3 to a top 1. And I have come to the conclusion that After Hours is The Weeknd’s best song ever. It is The Weeknd at his peak and I feel like the song is all of the weekend put into 1 song.

After hours the track is my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs from the weeknd. This coming from a guy who is XO till we overdose here since before the trilogy. Like you said its a pefect song... so many levels to it. reminds me a lot of Tears in the Rain which is also one of my favorites from the Weeknd. I love until I bleed out as the closer, especially along with the music video it has, it also feels a lot sadder as an outro which makes the project as a whole hit harder imo
After Hours, the song, was never officially released as a single, but an audio TH-cam video of the song was uploaded about a month before the album’s debut.
Takes me back to 2020, this album was so claustrophobic and everyone was quarantined, it was the perfect match. I lived with this album for two years playing it everyday!

Faith was my favorite track on first listen, easily.
As I kept listening to the album, putting pieces together, understanding the lyrics better, and getting a full picture of the story, I enjoy it more and more. Too Late grew on me a little bit, but a song I wouldn't mind not being on the album. Escape From LA also grew on me and is now one of my top five tracks for sure 😌
Until I bleed out is the perfect transition between After Hours and Dawn FM. He essentially dies in Until I bleed out (the bonus tracks sort of add onto that) and then he wakes up in purgatory in Dawn FM
