the album, which reflects the transition of an underground personality into a mega-star, although the album is half pop, but still is one of the best works of The Weeknd
One of the reasons why BBTM feels disjointed is because The Weeknd didn’t know what to do after Kiss Land. He was scrapping albums during the 2014 period. I think this was the result of just not having an idea as to what his next album was going to be.
@@angie-jo1mn This is an excerpt from a Rolling Stone article from 2015: When Kiss Land stalled, the Weeknd fell into a creative rut. “I just kept getting more and more depressed,” he says. He considered relocating from Toronto to Seattle in search of a “super-drugged-out Nirvana vibe.” Instead, after writing and scrapping an album’s worth of material, he started spending more time in Los Angeles and listening to his label. Republic got him a choice placement on the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack with “Earned It” and set up a duet with Ariana Grande on her club-ready single “Love Me Harder,” produced by synth-pop wizard Max Martin. “At first I was kind of iffy about it,” the Weeknd says of the collaboration, which would have been unthinkable in the old days. “Five years ago? Definitely not. I was the young starving artist that wanted to do it all by myself.” www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/how-the-weeknd-went-from-broke-in-canada-to-sharing-stage-with-taylor-swift-42832/amp/
the sample used in ‘Often’ is a Turkish song called ‘Ben Gene Sana vurgunum’ which means ‘I am still in love with you’ and translated in the weekend’s sample it says “Every single day of mine lasts for years” and “I am tired of walking alone”. Very interesting.
This album is very disorganised and chaotic for a weeknd album but it definitely has its high points which cover the flaws of the album probably the reason why it's called beauty behind the madness lol That's also the same issue I have with Starboy. If they were a bit shorter they would have been a 10/10
Would love for you to react to some of his features and loosies: -Trust Issues -King of the Fall -Enemy -Down Low (R. Kelly cover) -I'm Good (w/ Lil Wayne) -Devil May Cry (Hunger Games soundtrack) -Nocturnal (w/ Disclosure) -Nomads (w/ Ricky Hill) -In Vein (w/ Rick Ross) -Lost in the Fire (w/ Gesaffelstein) -Over Now (w/ Calvin Harris) -Remember You (w/ Wiz Khalifa) -One of Those Nights (w/ Juicy J) -Low Life (w/ Future) -Coming Out Strong (w/ Future) -You Right (w/ Doja Cat) -Might Not (w/ Belly) -Drunk in Love remix
i actually think this album does have a pretty cohesive story, with being unhappy in fame, dealing with the devil and finding a girl he actually falls in love with, i reccomend watching The Writers View’s video on it, he explains the album very well
Acquainted actually was supposed to be way differently in the terms of sound, it's called Girls Born In The 90s and it was leaked before the album release, so Abel had to completely change it. Also the outro of Acquainted is kinda different in the live version, I wish those vocals were in the actual song too And also it's funny that you said that Angel would sounds good at the stadium, because he barely performed it, he did a few times during BBTM tour but it was canceled quickly after the beginning, since he decided to work on the Starboy, and then in the next tour he sang acoustic version only with the guitar on the background 😂
Earned it is just elegant and cool as fuck in my opinion. Maybe because I’m a singer I like it more as the melodies and the vocal control is absolutely stunning.
I feel like she usually dresses on the theme of the album and its nice to see that. You don't want people listening to house of balloons when they're wearing some star wars outfit or smth
I feel like i'm lucky in a way because i just can't get tired of songs i like. I can literally listen to a song over a thousand times in one year and that shows in my yearly Spotify wrapped's haha
For me House of Balloon, Thursday and Echoes of silence from 2011 are the Best The Weeknd work its so Special. Later in 2012 this 3 mixtapes comes out as Trilogy Album.
I’d love to see you check out the trilogy mixtapes, Starboy, and After Hours again! They’re all so good and definitely warrant another listen if you haven’t heard them in a while!
Considering how much u appreciate cohesive albums I highly suggest u start listening to D’angelo. His albums voodoo and black messiah are simply phenomenal. I think a reaction to his work would be incredible and u surely will get Some views
When you listen to trilogy please do the original individual mixtapes rather than the trilogy album. Although being remastered I feel like a lot of the songs lost some of the original sound or feel especially when you listen with headphones. Looking forward to your reaction 😁
Highly recommend to listening to other Weeknd albums like After Hours, Starboy, and his mixtapes before he blew up house of balloons, Thursday and echoes of silence
u might already know this but the weeknd actually said in an interview lana de ray is like the female version of him. idk if he meant musically or personally (im assuming musically) but i thought that was interesting for him to say
hey, i know you probably get a lot of album requests but hear me out friends that break your heart - james blake literally a 10 in my eyes, a collection of the most beautiful & delicate songs i've ever heard.
imo prisoners is a song which you play for the lyrics not for the vibe, the lyrics are freakin amazing and i can relate to them but that may not be the case for everybody. still tho even if you cant relate to them i recommend listening to the verses cuz the song is so well written, probably one of my fav lana x weeknd songs
Yeah I think that bias was pretty strong on Dark Times. I HATE Ed Sheerans music and that is the only song I actually enjoy hearing him in. Felt like it fit In very well.
I love it! I would recommend you (idk if its your type) about Tame Impala's Album called "Currents'' its a masterpiece, i hope you consider to react this album. Nice video!
Wow I thought we had a lot in common and then you said you're an Ed Sheeran hater. I think I just fell in love Edit: and then you said you like lana i think i died and went to heaven
You should listen to SYRE by Jaden Smith. I think it would surprise you. It's not perfect but it's my favorite album of all time and even if you listened to it off screen, It would be cool. Got to show more people Jaden is talented.

That's why it's called beauty behind the madness. It's supposed to be chaotic

Considering how much u appreciate cohesive albums I highly suggest u start listening to D’angelo. His albums voodoo and black messiah are simply phenomenal. I think a reaction to his work would be incredible and u surely will get Some views
Have you listened to money power glory by Lana, but the version with the weeknd verse? It sounds SO right, like it should've been the original.
As you are is def a grower. It became one of my fav songs
fun fact the ending of Aquainted is an unrelease version called In The 90's
Dark times was like a vocals battle between abel and Ed
If you are a Weeknd fan we're friends automatically XO
I really hope you will do a trilogy reaction
When you listen to trilogy please do the original individual mixtapes rather than the trilogy album. Although being remastered I feel like a lot of the songs lost some of the original sound or feel especially when you listen with headphones. Looking forward to your reaction 😁

I agree that ed Sheeran feature is so unnecessary lol, don’t care for ed like that
You should do after hours next
Please cover the Trilogy mixtapes! Especially Thursday.
Yeah I think that bias was pretty strong on Dark Times. I HATE Ed Sheerans music and that is the only song I actually enjoy hearing him in. Felt like it fit In very well.
